Same. Just got my phone, it activated within a few minutes, but Siri isn't working. Sigh.

Major problems connecting to the network. At least 50% of the time it doesn't connect, and another 25% of the time there's an awful lag before she answers.

Fortunately, she's more or less useless anyway in this beta stage anyway, so no biggie.

Same network connecting problems here. Phone works the old way super fast. It won't even look up contacts in my phone...it just hangs and says there's a problem.

Having siri problems too

Siri worked for like 5 minutes for me, and then every other time it said it can't connect to network ..Anyone else???

I'm having the same problem with siri, just activated phone and it has worked since it was activated.

Relax guys. It is the "Siri Server," not your phone. They will add capacity as needed, but right now they literally have a million people with a new toy bombarding the server with a lot of strange questions and requests just to see what Siri will say. I am guilty of it myself. Given how much Apple has riding on this, coupled with repeated warnings that it is still in beta, I am confident Siri will only get better and faster, especially when she doesn't have to answer hundreds of thousands of questions per second about escorts and massage parlors anymore.

Interestingly, speech to text is working but Siri isn't. I would have guessed that they run off the same servers. Guess not.

Troubles

I am also having troubles with Siri not working. I figured apple would have been prepared for the demand but I guess they are still working out a few kinks themselves. Hopefully it starts working soon since it was considered the biggest feature of the iPhone 4S.

Does Siri need to get "online" to function? In theory, it should work fine if I'm just looking up one of my contacts in the phone, right?

Mine is having the same issue, I thought it was my phone at first, but I'm betting it's just the surge of people testing Siri after work.

We probably killed the servers.

How am I supposed to impress people with something I know nothing about, if what I know nothing about, isnt working?

Works on 16G 4S not on 64 G

Got myself a 64G and my wife 16G. Siri worked well on both at first, now only on my wife's. Same network, sitting side-by-side, Siri works Everytime on my wife's but I only get Cannot Connect from Siri on mine. Clearly there is something going on besides Apples servers being busy, or why is my wife's 16G Siri working so flawlessly and mine not at all?

Its working every time on my wife's phone, but never on mine. The dictation never works on mine either.

Mine is a 64 and wife's is a 32.

How does that make it clear that it's not the servers??

Solution?

:apple: Was having the same issue. Powered her (the iPhone4s) off ( for 30 sec.) then on again and now she works like a charm. Hope this helps :apple:

Works on one phone but not the other

I did not say that the servers could not be a problem. What I said was "Clearly there is something going on besides the Apple servers."
Meaning... some of us are having Siri problems that are not related to busy Servers. Else, how is it possible for two iPhone 4S phones sitting next to each other, on the same network, trying to obey the same human voice, yet on one phone Siri works and on the other it does not? This cannot be explained by the Apple Server being busy, because that should lead to Neither phone having Siri operational. What else could it be? For example, the phones do not have the same Apps. Maybe there is some sort of conflict. Maybe one phone is defective. Maybe Fate is just treating me cruelly to face a weekend with a toy that doesn't work quite right. Who knows? But I don't believe the my Siri's problem is busy Apple servers. Clearly ... something Else is going on with my phone and... maybe with some of the phones of other readers here. This could be a helpful observation as we try to figure this out.

Powering down helped.

I took the suggestion of another reader. Powered by 64G down for about 2 minutes. Powered back up and Siri is working. Fingers are crossed. Weekend is looking better.
:)

Siri Fix..

Hi all, I had this exact same problem and I finally got it to work (it was driving me crazy). My fix was to go into the 'settings-->Siri' and turn OFF siri and then turn it back ON. That finally got it to start working for me (shutting off OR restarting my iphone didn't help). Hopefully this works for you all as well!
