When talking about RED Macrumors always forgets the red iPod Touch which is awesome. I think Apple may release the RED iPhone 6.

I'd buy a RED iPhone 6. Love the shade they use, unlike those awful pastel colours of the 5C.

Sure they look cool, but if you only want to give money to an AIDS research charity (or any charity for that matter), it's better to just donate money rather than trusting that the extra money you pay all goes to the charity.
That could be said about donating to any charity in any capacity. Remember the Susan G. Komen scandal that broke around this time last year?

Done with the ignorant Apple Homers here.

The common sense in this thread is weak I fear.

You seem to be struggling with the difference between what Bill Gates contributed and what Microsoft as a Corporation is doing with their money. Bill gates money came from the sale of Microsoft stock to shareholders. Microsoft continues to generate revenue today, are they giving any of that money to charity (I don't know and I actually don't care). There is a difference, a big difference. This has nothing at all to do with "Apple Homers" (a term that is clearly a personal attack and a violation of the policies here at MacRumors) and everything to do with you not grasping a fairly simple and clear distinction.

The Red products don't actually cost more.

Yes, red iPhone 6 would be a blast. 5c was a total fail.

I still find all these 5C failure post amusing. Can you name a phone that outsold the 5C that isn't made by Apple?

Try reading my other posts before you tell me what I am struggling with. Pretty clear a few lines below that one that I'm not.

Those things Bono said were very uncalled for... considering Apple is Red's biggest supporter. Glad this was sorted out.

Not really, I follow the (Red) products just cause I like Red... And Apple really backpedaled as they have gotten bigger. They used to at least throw up the (Red) product with special branding in the marketing.. Now they just mix them right in with all the other colors and indicate the (Red) donation in the fine print. I understand that (Red) being about AIDs research ends up tied to "gay rights" and I think Apple is being like other big companies and just avoiding sticking its neck out because of the chicken hawk radical right. Apple has always been friendly to things like gay rights in the past when they were small and scrappy and Bobo is rightfully upset now that Apple is at the top of the heap they back down from publicizing causes they have supported for a decade.

Lol. Seriously?

Only nearly 30 Billion from his own pocket. No big deal though.

Hm that's from his own foundation, not associated with Microsoft.
And please quote the number from Samsung and Google. Note: don't include damages to people who die from cancers or to those who got evicted because employees move into the area and price everyone out.

I love the (RED) campaign. I buy those versions of products whenever possible and encourage you all to do the same.

the app most Android fanboys use to access xda "developers" ;)

I still want to see what RED produces for all the money donated. There have been questions in the past that they are ineffective.

Try doing some research. RED targets AIDS in Africa with its focus on pediatric AIDS in a big way. You do realize that in Africa, there are still people who live in huts. Try getting a population of people who do not have electricity, clean drinking water or plumbing, and live under thatched roofs with their cultural beliefs to start using condoms.

RED does help provide medications... yet again, some of these areas most crippled are uneducated and have religious beliefs that get in the way of the mission of the charity.

It's an awful epidemic over there. So to say what they do is ineffective in some ways doesn't mean the charity is ineffective.... look at catholics... they still teach condoms are a sin.

"Apple may be planning to increase support for (RED) in the coming months"

Red Mac Pro anyone? :p

There already is one.

And only one.

Maybe Apple should donate to help people who are suffering from leukemia after working at Samsung factories.

Or to help the families of the workers who kill them selves working at Apple manufacturers?

If you tell me how much it has sold, I can list some examples of phones that outsold it.

Apple may be planning to increase support for (RED) in the coming months. Following Bono's interview, King posted the following: "Great to see Bono calling Apple out on their "understated" approach to this issue. But you'll see that change within six months"

Confirmed: (RED) iPhone is in the works.

Bono just needs to pay his *********G taxes. Btw, Bono, your band sucks and always has, you Irish prick.

I agree. U2 is the worst band ever and Bono is the most annoying celebrity ever. Why doesn't he use HIS trillions to solve the worlds problems. Ya know, AIDS is a totally preventable disease anyways and shouldn't get a nickel in funding. It's easy to avoid but stopping bored, primitive jungle people from having sex is hard to do. AIDS is so 1980s anyways.

I think that what RED does in Africa is a good thing and do not have anything negative to say about the charity. Obviously all corporations latch on to a few charities to sponsor to show good will and reduce their tax liabilities. I only wonder why Apple has chosen this one, versus something like a charity for pancreatic cancer, the thing that killed Steve. I also wonder how a corporation goes about choosing which charity to support. I guess a wonder a lot about a lot...

Make no Bonobos about it . . . .

Sorry Bono, your remarks have already been put down in the records and your tax evasion strategies are on public view. You appear to be a self serving egotist who has created a 'charity' that does nothing except serve to promote you in the public eye.

I hope this isn't the dawn of the logo infested :apple: product. Its bad enough with ads slapped all over the software (reducing its beauty)

Bono was being the ass he usually is.

There was no 'teasing' in that attack. And as if Bono has a leg to stand on. U2 moved their operations a number of years ago to shield them from paying higher taxes. THAT makes him a hypocrite and an *******.

As far as Apple and (RED), I'd go into debt to buy a large (RED) 128G iPhone6, and seriously consider going commando... But I like the color red, and I like thinking that I am doing something worthwhile with my gadget lust. I've bought MANY (RED) Apple products, and will probably continue doing so.

Why doesn't OtterBox come out with a (RED) case for the various iDevices?

While my post says that I have bought (RED) iDevices, I agree that splashing the logo all over a 'thing' isn't cool. I'm already getting freaking tired of the logos that we plaster ourselves with constantly. (I took a Sharpie to a bunch of stuff once)

I think a clothing company could make HUGE bank if they started a 'generic' type of clothes with no logos at all, and marketed it that way as a 'counter culture' type thing. 'Sticking it to the man'... Although, I do find the tab, which I guess you can't see, in the fly of Lucky jeans funny...

NO LOGOS!!!

Because, isn't the color enough for a 'logo' for Bono? I'd agree with the twit, if Apple made a bunch of red things, but they don't. Anyone seeing a 'red' Apple device knows that, or should know that it's a (RED) product. Unless they aren't paying attention...

I did do some research. I couldn't find much third party on them. And I never said they were ineffective. Just wondering how effective they actually are. And there have been some controversies:

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/15973282/

And I have been to third world nations... several times. I'm quite well aware of their conditions. That's why I am more concerned with the effectiveness of help than just throwing money at the problem.
