I really hope the 13 rmbp has quad core and 4 gigs I ram. If it doesn't I don't know what to say.

Of course it will, the rMBP 15" maxes out at 16 GB and they both need a powerful CPU/GPU combination to push out that many pixels. You have nothing to worry about.

I really hope to get a rMBP 13' as soon as it becomes available. I'd pay more to get more power and a much better screen.

But, how much do you guys think it's going to cost?

Apparently, the Retina version is from 22% to 27% more expensive:

MBP 15' (base model) -> $1800
Retina MBP 15' (base model) -> $2200
Diference: 22%

MBP 15' (top model) -> $2200
Retina MBP 15' (base model) -> $2800
Diference: 27%

If the 13' model follows the same diference:

MBP 13' (base model) -> $1200
Retina MBP 13' (base model) -> $1500
Diference: 25%

MBP 13' (top model) -> $1500
Retina MBP 13' (base model) -> $1900
Diference: 27%

Maybe the three iMac models are 21.5" and 27" models with the old resolutions and an additional single Retina (4k) model?

That would follow the same pattern that they used with the Macbook Pro, and would allow them to charge more like $2500-$3000 for the Retina iMac.

That makes sense to me given that they're having display problems with the "high end" iMac.

The Retina model might even be a new size, like 24" or 30".

I have multiple people waiting to buy iMacs or Mac minis based on my recommendation that they hold off on buying one until the new versions come out "soon"- and it's been several months now that we've been seeing stories on here about updated versions of the iMac, Mac mini and 13" MBP coming out in varying degrees of "soon" (the whole reason I've been making the suggestion to my friends/family that they wait just a little longer so they can get their money's worth), so the sooner the better.

I was hoping for a 24" iMac.
I agree! This is the perfect size for me. I wouldn't mind them replacing everything with a single 24" Retina iMac to rule them all. I develop software all day long on 24" and it never feels too small, despite this kind of work being notoriously space consuming.

27" is so bloody gigantic, and I don't really like that the only other option is some slightly larger version than my current small-ish 20" monitor. 24" would be just perfect, and if the need for more space arises, then just add another monitor. That offers far greater advantages than just a single monitor anyway, since a full-screen mode app can run on it undisturbed with no context switching.

probably October...

I was hoping that Apple would announce updated iMacs this week, but I'm beginning to think it's not going to happen yet. I just got an email from Apple saying that their iTunes giftcard educational promo is running through September 21st. It seems like they might use the promo to deplete remaining stock and ship updated models next month. I'm ready!!!

I'll be interested to see the performance on a the 13" Retina MacBook Pro.

It should give us a better idea of how far away the Retina Air models are.

A new iMac design would be awesome!

Current design is fantastic, but new Apple design is ALWAYS welcome! :D

Except that it's not happening. You would have seen a leak of some part by now if there was going to be an entire new design. It's not like these leaks aren't planned.

That's my guess too.

I don't recall seeing leaked iMac parts in the past before a new model is released. I think that it's mostly because the iMac is a much lower volume and lower attention product.

Apple has to start ramping up iPhone production tests well in advance because they have to be producing tens of millions of them a month by the time they're announced.

The notebooks are lower volume than the iPhone and we have seen leaked Macbook Pro parts in the past, but not as many.

iMacs have lower production volumes than the notebooks. There also isn't as much of a media frenzy around them as with the iPhone.

As for the iMac, Apple originally planned to release three new models with upgraded panels and CPUs, but due to poor yields of the panels, the mass production of the high-end model, has been postponed

I know this may sound crazy, but maybe the "high end" model that is rumored to be having production problems is not the 27", but a new, larger iMac. The three new models could refer to new 21.5", 27", and then something in the 32" range. As someone who has eschewed traditional television in favor of online viewing, this would be a welcome upgrade from my 2009 27" iMac / entertainment system. Call me a dreamer....

i love the 27" iMac design.. it's beautiful for editing, but i wish the bezel and bit at the bottom were smaller (Gets in the way of my 5.1 monitors in a massive way)...
I guess I should just buy one of their external monitors if i want that though...

My wallet can't take a rMBP 13" right now. Please don't do this Apple. :(

You don't want Apple to release a new product because you don't want to spend the money on it? I think those that would purchase such a notebook would resent that :p

Apple is falling apart

1. Mac Pro is 2.5 years old
2. iMac is 1.5 years old
3. MacBook Pro Retina has image retention on LG screens and no way I'm playing lottery
4. MacBook Air is major lottery for a decent Samsung screen. I'm stuck with an LG right now

The Mac Mini is the only Mac I trust right now. Apple can't seem to make an updated computer with decent QC.

Maybe they jumped the shark?

WTF :confused::confused:

We never saw a leak of the new Apple Extreme. I don't recall ever seeing leaks on iMacs.

Tunderbold display

Any word on a new "retina" tunderbold 27" display?
Seems like an awesome combination: 13" retina macbook air with an retina tunderbold display!

It does say three new models so in thoery they could do the 2 updated 27" iMacs pretty soon and the top end (Probably Retina) would be the delayed one. This would make snece as there is a problem with the panel etc...

Hopefully that is the case as I am not fussed about retina as I think the screen is ok now and retina will cost a fortune I would guess...

That's what I was thinking. I suspect the retina panel will be available as a build-to-order ad on for the 27-inch.

If the 3 models are referring to a 21.5", 27" and 32" I would love a 32".

Such a great size for things such as Netflix and LoveFilm without needing a separate TV.

Would be nice if it had a HDMI IN or something similar so you could use it as a screen.
