13 inch rmbp would be amazing. The only thing that would hold me back is that it would have the equivalent real estate of a 1280x800 screen instead of 1440x900 like the 13 inch air has.

Here's hoping Apple starts treating the 21.5" better and not like the red-headed step child it now is. The 21.5" should have all the high end CTO options the 27" has. So annoying you can't get a better video card for the 21.5".

Retina or go home.

I was looking forward to a Thunderbolt Display Retina. I'll have to wait some more as Apple have ruined me for anything non retina. Hahaha

Back on topic, so are we now assuming that the 27" will feature a 'retina' display ? or just another kind of display ? Surely something like 5120x2880 would require huge graphical power boost ?
Are there any GPUs that can drive that many pixels with laptop levels of acceptable power consumption?

13" retina plz

13" rMBP is perfect for me ... I want more power than my MacBook Air but the current Pro I don't like the 1280x800 ... they could at least have had the 1440x900 of the MacBook Air ...

I want to see undercover pics of the new rumored iMac. Just like the iPhone 5.

Cook doubled down on secrecy. Too bad he forgot to double down with the iDevices

Retina will probably have adjustable resolution...

I really hope to get a rMBP 13' as soon as it becomes available. I'd pay more to get more power and a much better screen.

But, how much do you guys think it's going to cost?

Apparently, the Retina version is from 22% to 27% more expensive:

MBP 15' (base model) -> $1800
Retina MBP 15' (base model) -> $2200
Diference: 22%

MBP 15' (top model) -> $2200
Retina MBP 15' (base model) -> $2800
Diference: 27%

If the 13' model follows the same diference:

MBP 13' (base model) -> $1200
Retina MBP 13' (base model) -> $1500
Diference: 25%

MBP 13' (top model) -> $1500
Retina MBP 13' (base model) -> $1900
Diference: 27%

would those prices include a quad core and dual GPU?

15" Retina MacBookPro has higher resolutions so why not the 13", it will have 1440x900 or better.

Been waiting for a retina 13" for ages. Hope it has a dedicated gpu though or it'll suck

If the intel 4000 can power a 2560x1440 Thunderbolt display it can probably manage a little more with the 2560x1600 or whatever the retina display will be

But yea I would still love it to have separate graphics and quad core

This time, I hope Digitimes is correct. I've been wanting to buy that 13 in. rMBP! :D

I'm interested in seeing the direction of the iMac. I've used MacBook Pro 17" for 6 years and am on an early 2010 MBP. I'm so tempted to update but I put in a 480GB SSD on the MBP so I may wait for the Haswell update next year. That should make Ivy Bridge look slow...

You don't want Apple to release a new product because you don't want to spend the money on it? I think those that would purchase such a notebook would resent that :p

Don't mistake me, I want to spend the money on it, it's just I don't have the money. Temptation is evil! ;)

I thought I read some reviews of the current 15" Retina MBP that indicated it *sometimes* seemed a bit laggy when closing, opening, or moving windows at full Retina resolution. That's with the discrete Nvidia GT650M GPU.

I wonder how a 13" variant would fare without a discrete GPU.

Noting says that a retina display would be twice the current resolution. The 27" iMac resolution approaches "retina" anyway once you take into account the greater viewing distance of desktop computers. It might be just 2x 1080p, or 3840x2080. Still a graphical power boost, but not quite as huge. Maybe they'll switch to a desktop GPU, delete the ODD, and use the space for bigger fans.

Good question. I have no idea.

I personally think they would use the same dual core CPU from the non-retina MBP 13 to keep a competitive price. But they will have to add a dedicated GPU, because the Intel HD Graphics 4000 is not powerful enough (I guess) to handle the retina display and its high resolution.
