Prosser demonstrating yet agin why he's the champion of Dunning-Kruger-based prognostication. The Mac Pro exists to host PCI cards, and massive amounts of mempry, That's literally its sole function.

Apple made a "Mac Pro" that didn't host PCI cards. It was a manifest failure*, and it was a failure, because it didn't host standard PCI cards. Noone outside of Apple's design department, wants a "smaller" "integrated" "sealed" "applicance" Mac Pro.

A cheaper mac pro, yes. A Mac Pro that uses non-xeon processors (threadrippers, epic or high end Core-I(x) chipsets), yes. However, there is literally no market for a Mac Pro without internal upgradability and internal reconfigurability post-purchase.

Why anyone pays attention to this clown, is beyond me.

*Which had nothing to do with the "thermal corner" PR excuse - the trashcan was a flawed design, not a flawed implementation of a good design.

I think the real hot question is release date... The M1 MacBook Air, Mini and 13” Pro have really disrupted the market and created waves. Currently, potential MacBook Pro, iMac and Mac Pro buyers are in a very odd position...

It’s looking more and more like the Match event (if it happens) will be about iPad Pro’s and Apple tags. Could we see Apple launch the new 14”, 16” MacBook pros and the new iMac at WWDC? Could we see a surprise release similar to what apple did with the 16” MacBook Pro?

The suitable size for smaller Mac Pro should be in G4 size enclosure, I think. Smaller than that it might concern with limited amount of PCIe expansion.

I don't know why but the blue and green look appealing to me.
I will wait two years until they nail the design and add FaceID.
I think its nice they're doing colours again, I wish there was a choice of colour on everything they make to be honest.

I'm kind of the same about the design/FaceID tbh and its something I've been considering with the new laptops too. FaceID on a desktop/laptop seems like an absolute no-brainer, so you know its going to come down the line and it is making me think I won't buy a new MacBook Pro or iMac until they have it.

I love the new M1 MacBook Air, its the best laptop I've owned in years, but my other Macs are more than fast enough for my workflow, so I'm in no rush to make the switch, particularly as there's still programs which only run on Intel.

Its pretty exciting though that there's talk of a new "mini" Mac Pro as I think that could be a great machine to get assuming it starts at a lower price point than the current Mac Pro. A modular Mac with a nice new Apple display of some sort would be a day one purchase for me.
