If it can check my blood sugar non-invasively as often as I want, I'm not sure I care what it looks like. I'm also willing to bet the design change is related to the packaging space needed to house the new sensor package. The rounded sides waste internal space.

Oof, I REALLY don't like it. Looks like a watch made for Minecraft characters. While I like the flat edges on the phone, I want my watch to look like a watch, and not so gadget-like. I think the Apple Watch could use a redesign, but I hope it's not this. Was always planning on finally going stainless steel on my next upgrade but this design would make it look cheap, not premium.

The Series 4 wasn’t a ‘relevant’ redesign, it was a larger implementation of the Series 3 and below. I mean, they virtually look the same with the digital crown, power button, almost everything is identical. If this rumor proves true, that would be a relevant redesign than more of a refresh as the Series 4 was.
If the only difference is that it’s flat, I’d argue the AW4 would be a bigger redesign: bigger, edge-to-edge displays, rounder shape, new Digital Crown, totally redesigned ceramic back… I compare my AW3 to my AW5 and it seems ancient.

Just give us more tech all-around. Apple design is almost always on point, with some horrible exceptions.

I dunno, sharper squared off edges on a wrist watch just seems like a bad idea.

I agree, putting aside that it's ugly as personal taste, I occasionally hit my watch against door frames etc, the rounded edges just roll off it. A square edge? I think will make more impact. same force, lower surface area, means more concentrated force. Likewise the watch sometimes hits the back of my hand when I bend my wrist up. A squared off edge won't feel great.

I get the new design language of keep all edges on all devices to be flat is the Apple Way, but this just seems to be ugly and a safety concern.

I’m happy with my SS Series 6 and don’t plan to upgrade for a while. My only fear is that the band attachment design changes which would put a limit on older Apple Watches to update accessories in the future.

I like it. Of course, I just upgraded a few weeks ago, so I suppose by the time I get another one, the watch will look like it does now again.

If that is what it really ends up like then I like it with the flat edges. Of course, you can be sure it will mean all new straps ;)

How is this still being brought up? Apple will never make a round Watch.
It takes a bit of practice, but I recommend starting off small. Bring up some coin-sized products that Apple will never release and work your way up.

Round watches are pretty easy for me; what I'm really struggling with is bringing up G6 Mac Pros.

People have been saying that for years that they feel the Apple could ‘change the band port’ at any time, making their band collection obsolete. The reality is, they could do that, but they executed it so well, why would they? It’s a small monopoly for them to make tons of money, but I don’t think they would change the Port unless the design forced them to do so. Plus, there’s nothing really indicating that they would change the band port at this point.
