First of all, let’s clears things up, shall we?
The watch being announced via press release is completely likely. They announced the AirPods Pro, a brand new version of one of their biggest products via press release last October. They released the new iPad Pro, along with a completely new input device, the magic keyboard, and iOS 13.4 with a brand new cursor support design via press release and video last March. They released an entire new iPhone, the iPhone SE, via press release.
So please explain to me why it’s unlikely that this upcoming Tuesday, they update the website with two new iPads with minor processor bumps, and a new watch with relatively minor upgrades via a press release. Then, next month, see event can be filled with the iPhones, Apple powered max, AirPods studio, air tags, Apple TV, and HomePod Mini.
Those six things can easily fill an hour and a half to hour and 45 minute keynote. I don’t think they’re going to try to pile on some new cheaper iPads and a tiny watch upgrade on top of that. Also, I don’t think there’s any reason for them to have two events.
Also, just because the iPhones are delayed, does not mean that iOS 14 is delayed. Anyone who is currently using the beta will know that it’s extremely stable and ready to go at this point.
So it makes complete sense that they’re going to announce new iPads and watches this week, release them along with iOS 14, watchOS, and tvOS all next week. Then the new iPhones and everything else can be announced next month, and ship with 14.1 or something like that.

Gurman’s tweet doesn’t completely contradict Prosser. Whatever is announced next week certainly won’t be available immediately. The big claim he just dropped is that the Watch won’t be released without an event, and that the event is still happening in September.

They both seem to agree that at least iPads are coming next week or Mark would have contradicted that because they seem to have a beef with each other for some reason.

My guess is that Prosser has had some accurate tipsters in the past but has now lost some of them. He isn't nearly as good as Gurman in how he communicates the info he finds out. He has probably included too much info causing the tipsters to be discovered internally.

I also believe that Gurman is better at parsing through tips/leakers and figuring out which is the BS. Apple/others absolutely feed him nonsense, and he has fallen for some of it. Gurman is better at protecting his sources and continuing to get long-term info from people who have previously been proven correct.

Then you have people like Gruber and select others who get purposeful leaks from Apple communications and SVP's to help control the narrative ("this is a software only event" "I think the price will be lower...")

What a fascinating world.

Yawn. Covid + not leaving house for another year = I bought a SE to replace my X. Anyone spending $1500 on a LIDAR equipped iPhone during a pandemic is moran. Wake me up when it's fall 2021 and life has started to return. :)

Going with Gurman on this one, has the better track record, on the other hand Apple Watch shipping times have blown out in most countries. 🤔

Hopefully it’s the iPhone event, since it’s going to be a online only event, hopefully they don’t make us wait 2 weeks to watch it after announcing the event date.

Something is happening in Tuesday, 8th Sept.

At least we know that.

My guess is that Apple will announce an event that will take place at Apple Park in the following week (Tuesday, 15th Sept.).

I would trust Mark over Prosser. Yeah Prosser has like an 85% track record, but he hasn’t been doing this near as long as some other leakers so his “high” percentage of accuracy is due to a “thin” profile.

Prosser always leaves himself an out. Almost all of his recent leaks are always followed by “things could change.” Yeah no s*** Sherlock. Lol

the vitriol you people around here have personally invested in him is absurd. he gives out content leaks, some have been spot on, some haven't.

yet every time he says something, people just cannot resist the temptation to remind everyone how little they think of him.

lmao, why do you people care this much.
<snip>
He comes off as an arrogant ass, maybe it’s just an act to be “controversial” or whatever. But he rubs a lot of people the wrong way.

I’m not personally concerned about his haters, he doesn’t seem to care so why should I 🤷‍♂️

No disrespect to Prosser but Gurman has been doing this a lot longer and his track record speaks or itself.

86.7% vs 77.8%

Prosser may not be as accurate, but he’s one of the more accurate leakers out there

CoinX was the best imo. Even l0vetodream has been wrong despite an almost 90% track record

Have you watched his stuff or listened to his podcasts or listened to him on other lives streams etc? He’s not an arrogant dbag at all. This is a narrative that has developed and it’s a slanderous one

Have you seen what 9to5mac did with him when the whole iPhone SE stuff happened? Those were unnecessary and I would argue more arrogant than anything JP has done since he started on YouTube many, many years ago

Team Mark Gurman!!! Stand up

“Team mark Gurman”
“Team Jon Prosser”

Neither of these guys care about any of us who are random posters to them, it’s just a social media thing

Seriously people are painting themselves into team X or Y corner of freaking sub-90%-correct apple product and date leakers a few days before an announcement lol. It’s kind of ridiculous when you step back and think about it.

How does it make one a moron, when their job status hasn’t changed due to the pandemic and they saved all year for a new iPhone? It’s their money and they can do whatever they want as they choose.

I don’t really watch any of the clickbait tech Tubers and I don’t listen to Prosser’s podcasts. I was reading his tweets when he broke onto the Apple scene, what, maybe six months ago? To me, he came off like an arrogant ass. Stopped reading his Twitter feed after maybe a week or so 🤷‍♂️ (btw are you sure a non-defamatory statement is slanderous? 🙂 )

re: SE and 9to5mac, not familiar with that, but no interest in it either. I get enough drama here at MR.

He’d fit right in on this message board then.

Steve Jobs was an arrogant ass. But that has absolutely nothing to do with how amazing his vision and products were. Same in this situation, he might be an arrogant ass, but his personality and his Apple information are not related one bit

I’m boycotting all apple products until they change their stance on xcloud, GeForce now, stadia, etc. should be interesting, since I’ve used iOS for 10+ years. But I’m done. This was the straw that broke the camel’s back.
