I could have explained the background details a bit clearer. I pitched it the wrong way.

We know that Apple will upgrade its screen size for the SE4.

Apple did offer the iPhone 8 plus modal at 5.5 inches with 401ppi and resolution 1920x1080 which had sharper text than the XR with 326ppi at 6.1inches.

An IPS panel similar to that at 401ppi at 5.4-5.7inches could be a nice upgrade for the next SE modal from 326ppi if they stick to LCD IPS panels which they most probably will given that it is their entry level phone.
Why should Apple redesign a new LCD screen for the cheapest iphone? The current Apple is pragmatic. For the entry model, simply use existing parts and chassis, done deal.

Besides, the screen in the XR is not bad at all. Blind tests have shown that people couldn't actually tell the difference between it and higher PPI Android LCD screens. Color accuracy and brightness become more important.

PPI has become like the old megapixel race. Showing larger number after a certain point becomes meaningless as there are other more important factors that is relevant to screen quality.
