Jon has been feeding wrong info about products many times:
1. Hardwares on WWDC
2. iPhoneOS
3. Air Tags
4. Fake AirPower photos

He is most accurate at event dates and times but not products

Agreed, but the AirPower one was purposely fed to him to discredit him. That was a big thing behind the scenes that he didn’t really share publicly.

That said, other smaller leakers have backed him up on Apple Glass, and that’s a pretty big thing to reveal. Not even Gurman was aware of that, but he was aware of Apple VR stuff. Is it true? I don’t know. But some credible leakers like Jioriku on Twitter have backed AG up.

The thing is all of these leakers have different sources. Some of them will know about certain products or items or things, but not other things.

Sometimes they are wrong because their source might work in one area of the company and have zero idea about another area

The sheep mentality about disparaging people is pretty lame. I had no idea how much vitriol there was against Prosser on here until I started to see the trend with posters.

Imo, macrumours is doing the purpose of the site by commenting on rumours as they come. Whether they’re true or not, this is what the site is about. Hopefully people start to give Prosser some slack if he’s right, cause he gets some unjustified hate imo.

Do the folks who follow these cottage industry classes still buy Apple products for actual productive use or just to have the latest status symbols? Are you using it to learn, listen music, watch videos, keep notes, do your taxes, communicate with friends and family, try to make your society much better and more efficient?
I mean, let’s be honest, none of us need the latest Apple products to get any of our jobs done. Even if we rely on our Apple products to do our jobs, they don’t need to be the latest one.
Anyone who uses an iPhone, iPad, or Mac for their job or their livelihood, and they’re using the latest generation are doing it either because they like to be on the cutting edge, or the previous one that they had wasn’t meeting their needs.
But the latest generation of Apple products is not necessary for anyone. We could all survive still using an iPhone 7, and a 2015 MacBook Pro. Or any type of combination of Apple products from the last 3 to 5 years. But we buy the latest generation because were passionate about the company, and we enjoy their products.

Is it such a small upgrade that it's not worth waiting an showing it on the event? Feels bad. Way more fun with the marketing bull at an event.. :(

1) Well, Apple did release hardware at WWDC... Developer Transition Kit.
2) There is EXTENSIVE documentation from WWDC stating iPhoneOS for features and functionality, including references within Xcode for Device Manager and Simulator.
3) Completely agree with you there.
4) Yep.

Actually, Jon never said anything about AirTags

Well if iPhones are going to be delayed I could see Apple doing this to take the focus off iPhones or expecting a September event.

7 hours and 20 min to go
If Jon will be right and we do get apple products ..i will make a hot sexy bubble bath
Regarding "Apple press release is currently scheduled for Tuesday (September 8) at 9:00am EST"
When have you ever saw Apple bring the site down at 6 AM PST? (Apple Campus time - Cupertino, CA)

Yeah, well he’s probably right. Hope you guys calm down with the ridiculously and unnecessarily vehement hatred once he nails another product release date & time.

Sure, he has been baited into believing that some fake products and photos were real and then subsequently reporting on that. Oh well. He still gets a bunch of **** right.

They did exactly that with the iPhone SE 2 announcement earlier this year....

‘My sources’ oh please!

If it happens, it happens because of the power of deduction.

1. New product model registrations in Eurasian Database (the most obvious sign)

2. The history of announcements in September after Labor day and often before September 11. Apple also like the beginning of the week.

3. The depleted Apple Watch stock

If I am not mistaken, he made his prediction before these events took place.

please be true!! I know a ton of people are “happy” with their series 4 or 5, but I find the S4 chip that is in the S5 to be plenty slow for 2020 as far as wifi/cell speeds. Would appreciate if this was waaaay faster.

It doesn't make sense if they announce iPhone and Apple Watch in a few hours. GM version of iOS 14 and watchOS 7 aren't even released yet.

They won't release a GM until new products are announced as they likely contain references to said new products. GMs usually are released after Apple events after they show off new products on stage.

I don't they will release tomorrow, but be available for sale tomorrow with shipping happening later this week or even later (which will give us an idea of when iOS 14/watchOS 7 will be shipping.).

See here’s the thing, it doesn’t matter what you think about Jon’s personality. That has absolutely no relation to how reliable his information is. And while he’s been incorrect about future product features, and distant plans, when he says a solid release date, at least the last several times that he’s done so, he’s always right.
He said that Apple would be releasing some new products the week of March 15. Three days later on Wednesday, March 18, we got the new iPad pros, MacBook airs, and Mac minis.
On Tuesday, March 31, he said the iPhone SE would launch on April 15. Every other website and leaker said he was wrong, but April 15 arrived along with the iPhone SE.
He said a 13 inch MacBook Pro would arrive in May, and wouldn’t you know, it arrived on May 4.
He said the new iMac would not arrive in July as other people were saying, but would come out in August. August 4 came with a new iMac.
So when he says that new watches and iPads are coming on September 8, with an Apple event scheduled for the week of October 12, I tend to believe him. Now if he were to go on and say that they’re going to announce Apple glass, airpower, and all that kind of stuff, then he starts to enter murky territory.
But this release schedule makes complete sense with the restrictions that are currently going on. Almost every series 5 model is completely out of stock, and if it’s true that Apple doesn’t plan to have an event until October, I highly doubt they’re gonna leave the Apple Watch with no supply for an entire month. What would their stockholders say? How would they report Septembers data at their quarterly earnings call, if the watch sold zero units because there were none available?
Of course Apple is not gonna do something stupid like that.
So tomorrow, we’re going to get new iPads and Apple watches.
Then in October, we’ll get new iPhones, AirPods, airtags, and ARM MacBooks, along with whatever other surprises they have up their sleeve.
Also, I have mad props for Mark pre-2019, but over the last year or so, his reporting has become very shaky.

If you've listened to Mark Gurman on MKBHD's podcast, he typically does have a lot of information that doesn't get reported simply because there's not enough details. It's likely Mark also has access to this same info, but he holds off until he has more information.

It's likely leakers already have access to these dates but there's just not enough details to publish a story. But then Jon capitalizes on these dates and making either obvious guesses or completely wild guesses just so that his videos could have some meat on the bones.

It'll take at least two weeks to come out with new products even they release GM versions tomorrow.
