after 2 generations of the same design I HOPE it is different :-D

Case manufactures now have to come up with new designs! It boosts the entire iPhone Ecosystem.

I like the new design, seams and all. I'm betting they are there for a reason...

Anyone here think the new iPhone will have the same quality and build as the 1st generation iPhone.

I never tried the aluminunm one since the plastic 3G model was the 1st to come to Canada. I really liked the look of the original :p

Do you guys think the 4th gen looks better?

Guess will have to wait till June for the feel for it...

I have a 1st gen. Didn't upgrade to the 3G because we don't have 3G where I live and I really think the design of the 3G is a step down. This one looks very sweet. I will be upgrading in June. :D

If you need anymore proof this is the next iPhone, then go start working for apple. This "iPhone HD looks awesome, I still wonder how Steve is gonna react come WWDC.

Wouldn't say that. I sat next to some Apple Engineers at WWDC 07 and they were very out of the loop when it came to the iPhone. Stuff is just as secret inside Apple as it is outside.

iPad nano, called it first

That makes no sense. The iPad isn't a phone.

The hype is simply gone already. Launching early is the only surprise Steve has left.

Why does there have to be a surprise? As long as it's an amazing product, that's all that matters.

For all of you saying that the design is getting old, what would you like to see? The design is based around the screen. If they made the screen any different, the OS wouldn't match up to it.

The only thing I'd like to see is that the black areas above and below the screen should be touch-sensitive. That way, you can have gaming controls off to the side and not right on the screen.

But they never turn the thing on and show it working in some capacity. How do we know this isn't just a cardboard-cutout (so to speak).

Also, the phone will probably fit great in the hand but I am a fan of the rounded back. I have a couple clients who still have first-gen iphones and when I hold them they feel a tad awkward compared to my 3g.

Inside it has insides of an iPhone. I know this could be faxed, but seems like a lot of hassle to go to.

Steve looking for heart transplant .. because his heart cant take any more leaks...

How deep is your love
How deep is your love
I really need to learn
'Cause we're living in a world of fools
Breakin’ us down
When they all should let us be
We belong to you and me

That text resolution comparison doesn't really prove anything. If you take the 320x240 text and blur it a slightly in PhotoShop (Gausian, radius: 1.1), it looks completely identical to the text above it.

It really doesn't.

It's my graphic used on the homepage :) My mockup is pixelated and difficult to read at 320 pixels wide. Even from the blurry YouTube video the text on the 4G is clear and the characters are all well formed.

This is even more apparent in one of the Vietnamese photos and also if you watch the relevant section in the YouTube video.

Why are people trying to analyse pixels on a compressed 480p video? You can tell diddly-squat from it.

You can see that the characters are very small and are perfectly formed.

In my mockup you can see that on the iPhone 3G screen the characters would end up being about 5 pixels wide. There is no way you can achieve that level of clarity with a 6x5 pixel shape even with the best antialising the world has ever seen. :)

Why don't we all wait and see what Apple announces. My money is on the 4G screen being higher resolution based on the evidence of the YouTube video. :p

I hope they release a 64gb model!

I concur. If this is an actual model, it looks like they will have multiple phones at multiple price points. Wasn't the phone the dude lost in San Jose an 80gig model? That could mean the 16gig is the new minimum with maybe a 32, 64, and 80 and $100 dollar difference inbetween the model prices?

Has anybody translated the Tinthe page yet?

TRANSLATION (as best as I could get):

On hand for the phone Apple iPhone 4G

Taller, thinner, narrower, more sturdy, more dry ... This phone is not in the operating system so all what we have described the design as the outside. We can easily see Apple use the chassis design with an aluminum block hard on this new generation iPhone (temporarily called the iPhone 4G), it looks as thought as portable computers and the iPad Apple.

4G iPhone with a completely new design compared with the previous generation iPhone. Not only look quite powerful and modern (aluminum and glass) while holding sturdy feeling suddenly, you do not think it is made from different parts of it as a mass communication, certainly . Because doing so is not rounded edges like the previous generation can not be held more comfortable because the edges need on hand.

The front edge is no longer seen only as metal plating and a black face, flat on the back look the same, a glass covered it all: Fantastic, camera, flash, information ... back just the front, it looked very very thin rim and into the ball. We will see the front and rear glass panels are mounted on aluminum ribs in between. When viewed from the side edges of the aluminum was seen as very sharp, all made very reasonable detail, looking at the seat speaker, headphone jack, mic ... The front of the machine outside the home button and speaker with more traditional we see a small camera right next to the left of the speakers are located hidden under the glass. Both the two sides should stick to the glass for fingerprints horrible.

Four sides of the machine with similar functions as the first generation iPhone, the bottom edge of port and speakers, including the left button to increase volume, vibrate mode buttons / bell. Increase the volume buttons are now two separate button. Above is the headset jack, button machines and have a small hole like a mic hole, so maybe this is mic noise. Remove the SIM from the button on the right side was brought down, like the iPad.

Size: iPhone 4G pretty much thinner than the previous generation iPhone (about 2.5 mm), width is much narrower, about 3.5 mm (which is brought by aluminum ribs), the height is higher than about 1 mm. Changes of this size as the iPhone 4G looks higher.

We open the machine up, just show up a screen with fire and the same information as the command line. Maybe Apple does not have remote locking, which is locked in time, if a certain time that the birds do not enter a machine code on the machine that will automatically bring about this state.

Adding the test connection to your computer:

Experiment 4 gene iPhone plugged into the computer, iTunes does not automatically open up as you plug the iPhone or iPad. Try opening iTunes, it immediately connected to the server and realized it was the iPhone. Bringing the machine on and try DFU restore but no alarm software for their iPhone version, please check your version of iTunes. So make sure when it will launch the new iPhone requires a new iTunes.

For sure more into the USB of the computer to see it get here is what device. Mac OS has been reported thiiet BRCM2046 Hub name, more detailed, here is the recipient of the Apple device, USB chips produced by Broadcom. However, USB is version 1.1 so the maximum transfer speed is 12MB per second while the others are 480Mb iPhone. 002608C89DCA machine is serial number, try checking on the Apple support pages and pages are Apple Serial Number reported is not true. The final step, put your computer on and run DFU Spirit but this software does not recognize.

I reckon it's a knock-off. They're getting better every year anyway, so why not.

The volume off switch looks a way too flakey (wobbly rather than the usual volume switch, which clicks solidly between on/off) at 1:08, and the sim drawer is protruding from the case at 1:18, rather than flush, which is an Apple aesthetic present even on the curved bezel of the 3G/3GS.
