Prototype Next-Generation iPhone Front Panel Reveals Identical Design to iPhone 4

If this really is the iPhone 5, then it looks like I'm sticking to Android. Sorry, but it needs a slightly larger screen, just .3" larger would do. Also the all glass back needs to go. :)

3GS vs 4S

The next iPhone will be the iPhone 5. There will not be an iPhone 4S. The only reason the 3GS was called that is because they had already used the number 3 on the second gen phone which they called the 3G. So they had to add something to the name (as it was faster they chose to add the letter S) to make sure people knew it was a newer model. This has caused some confusion ever since. As the next phone will be the fifth model in the series they don't need to call it the 4S this time. Even if it looks exactly the same as the iPhone 4 it will be called the iPhone 5.

What's the point of buying a device that looks identical to what I already have?

Yeah. It's not like the insides count. It is for showing off after all.

Like milk and toilet paper. I don't buy them 'cos they look the same as my last ones.

What if Apple waited this long because of the late Verizon iPhone 4 and NOT because its going to be an all new design?

No. The new one will be a world phone and work straight away on Verizon also. No need to wait.

I'm sick of the thought of having to save up for 50 years before I can buy a new iPhone. So, when my iPhone 4 is rougly a year old, I want to get a contract that will allow me a free upgrade to the latest iPhone every year.

Get a savings bank account and put the required amount in every month. It's the same the Americans do, they just pay it to AT&T. With interest.

It can look exactly like the iPhone 4 for all I care (though I'd like a matte metal back ala. first gen phone). What I care about is speed, memory and most importantly how that matters with iOS5!!

None of that matters with iOS5. The 3GS can handle that OS.

but they dont really, iOS5 works on the 3GS which mean the 4 will be perfectly fine. makes the whole upgrading from the 4 rather pointless if not for the new design that im still hoping for

Until you learn the iphone 5's killer app that apple won't release on iphone 4 :)

If this is the real deal, I have no idea what Apple has been doing for the last 14 months.

Developing iOS 5 ?

Don't get me wrong, I'm hoping for this to be the cheaper 4S. But if it is the iPhone 5, iOS 5 and iCloud might be a very good reason to make them keep us waiting.

Something is going on here, high res pictures of new parts, hmmm, i think apple is playing its own games, especially after the major leak with the 4, steve would be holding a gun to someone head if this happened again.

i think we are being fed a few fed herrings here, I'm not saying this is not going to be some iPhone but i don't believe for one moment we would be getting this many parts of the latest secret model.

also leaking parts even if wrong gets the hype going.

Yeah, they said that right when Jobs resigned too... and the stock bounced back in 48 hours.

Stop spreading FUD.

its not FUD, expectations are high. Any company not living up to expectation suffers from correction of stock price. Very simple.

Now, as for short-term bounce-backs, who cares about that? Volatility in itself says very little about the future valuation. What matters are trends (Steve Jobs resigning will surely have a negative effect on trend (please realize that this does not equate to "the trend will be negative").

Just upgrading some technical **** and voila; new phone.
...
Can't remember the last time a real update was done on the Macbook Pro; just some hardware changes.

It seems you don't know anything about technology or computers. "Just" upgrading some technical "****" is what makes the iPhone work. The appearance of the device has nothing to do with upgrading the functionality or features.

A Macbook consists of hardware and software, and the software is not Macbook specific. So what in the earth did you expect from a Macbook Pro update than "some hardware changes"?!

I don't know why everyone hates the iPhone 4 design, Personally I think its incredible. Its so sexy. I'd be happy with the same design, and in A5

If the curent design was made considerably thinner and more rounded off it would be incredibly comfortable in hand as well as retain its reputed looks.

That's what I envisage happening anyway.

I demand blurry pictures, these are way too clear!

Agreed. If this is legit, why havent Mr. BlurryCam posted anything about this?

Liquid Metal back ??

With the new rumors of Glass falling out of favor one has to wonder if its time for the debut of the Liquid Metal technology Apple invested in.

They bought out right the sole IP rights to manufacture Liquid Metal in the Consumer Electronics arena. Assuming they haven't just been sitting on the tech it's about the right timing since that purchase to role out the first Liquid Metal components.

Or will it be parts for the new rumored product category this fall. Could it be a Nano device, (ApplePico.com) maybe more likely given the current state of the manufacturing tech for Liquid Metal.

My moneys on both, its going to be a Liquid Metal year.

As sexy the iP4 is, i really like it when apple comes out with something new and "fresh"

Just getting a A5 in the same "cover" will not get the iPhone 4 owners to upgrade.

If they will make it thinner, lighter?, larger screen, better camera´s. That is what gets people to upgrade.

So what was the deal with that picture of the factory workers next to a bunch of phones with elongated home buttons? You can't trust any of these rumors.

Apple developed a less-extensive update at the same time as the iPhone 4 as a backup in case something went wrong. Maybe they did that this year, too, and the iPhone 5 design failed at some point (there was some talk of overheating).
Temperature problems could be a fair reason to go for a metal back instead of glass...

Well. The iPhone 4 last June was a brand new design. Finally changed it after the iPhone, 3G and 3GS.

I'm getting a new Phone September 19th, and ofcourse of Apple announces the iPhone 5 before then, and it releases in Oct, I'm obviously going to wait. (Verizon).

But if the iPhone 5 has a larger screen, I'm going for the iPhone 4 instead. I dont like phones with the larger screen's, its just..too big. Apple likes small and sleek. I honestly don't think they're going with the larger screen. Atleast not this time around.
