Could it be that Apple is testing to see whose leaking their secrets? By creating a multitude of designs and carefully distributing them to people covered under the Apple nondisclosure Agreement, they could easily identify who is not protecting Apple's intillectual property. This could help determine what suppliers or employees are not trustworthy or honest enough to be associated with Apple, and need to be removed or eliminated.

Making it easier for the competition to get Apple product copies to the market sooner will significantly impact the value of my retirement funds. Go get em Apple! IP theft is a crime that needs to be stopped.

If the phone is exactly the same as the 4, other than they have to fit the A5 processor and a higher resolution camera in it, there shouldn't be any issues with time.
Most electronic companies had to qualify new components (including more or less thorough testing) or find new sources due to the Fukushima incident - that alone could mean a delay of several weeks to months, even more so, if a device would have to be (electronically) redesigned to accomodate necessary changes from new components and/or new suppliers!

Please be the cheaper iPhone 4..I want i5 redesign!! :(

Hopefully this

I don't know why everyone hates the iPhone 4 design, Personally I think its incredible. Its so sexy. I'd be happy with the same design, and in A5

I want a phone made out of materials that can survive an accidental drop. Glass is not sturdy enough for a phone.

Phones should not be made to withstand a high drop. If you think you are going to drop your phone. Get this one.

Ouch! I am so sorry! Was it in a case? I have dropped mine a couple of times with absolutely no damage, but I did have it in a semi-hard gel case.

Well. The iPhone 4 last June was a brand new design. Finally changed it after the iPhone, 3G and 3GS.

Umm I don't know if you were around in the beginning? But the iPhone 3G was a different design to the original iPhone

Also i much preferred the 2g case to the 3g/3gs case

iphone 4 i like the look of, but i don't like the feel.

It was my GF's phone, and no it wasn't in a case (that wasn't a photo of hers, found that one just on google images -- hers looked a lot worse). She'd dropped it a few times, but this one was knocked off the nightstand trying to hit the alarm and cracked on the hardwood floor.

She was quite distraught.

Ew cases, cant stand those at all. They make everything bigger and hide the pretty phone behind some plastic. I couldnt even do the bumper, had to go. But then again i got a phone insurance so i dont rly care about dropping it lol

None of the waiting could have had ANYTHING to do with the terrible disaster in Japan, slowing or stopping progress. -Sarcasm-

Jesus

Lol.... if you have to type sarcasm then you're not very good at being sarcastic. Being truly masterful with sarcasm is an art..... one you have yet to master young jedi. I however agree with your point. This crowd can be hard to please at times.

Nooooo it can't look identical because when I get the iPhone 5 I need everyone who see's me using it to know how important I am!!!!

Now here ya go.... this is true sarcasm! (I hope lol)

Ever heard of invisible shield? That qualifies as a case.

Does it protect the exposed edges of glass on the iPhone 4 though?

I'm not complaining and will be buying the next iPhone regardless of its design, but I can't see the Invisible Shield making much difference to a high speed impact to concrete. I had one for my black 3G and white 3GS, but never dropped them so I've no idea of its protection value.
