He could, but I have my doubts that he would.

Take some time to yourself and ponder the possibilities of an unmoderated forum. Consider it objectively from all sides and let us know what you come up with.
I don’t see any problems with it. In the real world, we don’t have big brother telling us what we can or can’t say. If everyone wants us to act like adults and “not the schoolyard” then let us go unmoderated. Would let both sides be happy.

Nothing has changed since you left the mod team.
I would have expected nothing less, my friend. :)

PRSI would be fine if everyone already acted like ideal adults while leaving the rules in place and keeping it moderated. The staff wouldn't have to do anything. So getting rid of that aspect would not change a thing.

Arn can change his mind. And what problems will arise?
I think Arn knows a lot more about running a successful forum than a random forum member with a bee in his bonnet.
Simple solution, don’t moderate PRSI and let us deal with things like big boys and girls.
Another simple solution, find a dedicated political forum where the rules are to your liking.

I’m a paying customer of this forum, thank you very much! (I don’t use Ad blockers)

Good to see how well the staff here likes members. Without members, this place would be nothing! Or perhaps, again, moderators have a predisposition for conservatives?

We like our members, we also like them to follow the rules.

Oh wow, you view ads on this site, and that makes you so important. Crikey don’t you have any hobbies other than whining endlessly about being banned from a political form on a tech site?

Sure use the same argument that people use with the police on a traffic stop. "I pay taxes and thus your salary!" Its a poor argument and you're still getting a speeding ticket.

That reminds me of this scene from Liar Liar.

We are still waiting for an administrator to justify moderators actions here of banning not only myself, but others. I don’t believe saying “Why would I watch anything but Fox News” is against the rules. Can you show me the rule that says I must watch other news sources besides Fox?

I do not. I am at heart an Apple Fan, or geek rather and we don’t have many hobbies LOL.

This isn’t a government ran forum though. This is a private business, as so many have said before. So your point you’re trying to make is a very bad one.

Then enjoy the rest of the forum and maybe switch to a low-sodium diet to get that blood pressure down.

The analogy holds.

In my experience on staff I never looked at or gave a **** about who (left or right) made a report. Most of the time when I handled a report from PRSI I let out a sigh and thought to myself, ****, another PRSI report?

Here's the thing that I did notice and found especially true when it came to PRSI reports. Many (from both sides), but not all, PRSI users like to instigate others and push the limits of the rules and find unique ways of skating under them yet still making a trollish or insulting post. Then, when the other person sees it, gets pissed off and reports it or responds in kind and steps over the line and gets moderated. A win for the other person who slipped a trollish comment under the rules and got away with it.

There is an awful lot of arguing by proxy that goes on in PRSI. There are some of you (not necessarily you two I quoted here) who absolutely love to argue and use the moderators to fight their battles via moderation and suspensions. They poke the bear and then run and hide behind a rock and tell someone in a tank when the bear comes attacking for being poked and then the person in the tank has to blow the bear away.

It's very difficult for the staff to moderate consistently and effectively applying the rules fairly when so many people ride the fine line trying to get away with their poor behavior.

Frankly, its ****ing annoying as hell and no matter what the moderator does in a lot of these situations, they're the bad guys because either they took action and one side gets mad for it, or they choose to take no action and the other side gets pissed because the post(s) remain.

Many, again not all, of PRSI users really make life hard for the staff and their political opponents.

Hardly seems worth the effort. I'd be fine with just trashing the whole section... after all, this is an Apple-centric tech forum. Where are the sports discussion forums? What about the camping forums? How about a muscle car forum?

Your argument of you’re a paying customer is also a weak one. If you don’t abide by the rules of said business, it’s a thank you, but get out situation where said business will refuse to provide service to you.

Just because you paid for something, doesn’t entitle you to act like a jerk. You say you want to deal with things as adults, then it shouldn’t be hard to behave in a civilized manner like adults should behave. The rules for PRSI are there because it’s been proven people can’t act like adults.

You're not likely to hear any arguments from the moderators on that. But its up to the big boss man on this one and he's made his statement about it.

All of those other discussions can fall under the Community forum.

Not for anything there is a time to hold or fold. This conversation should have folded many posts ago. As was suggested find a place more to your liking that doesn’t serve up ads.

There is an open faq, that’s is enforced and there for everybody to abide by. Your choice. Threatening to leave gets you no where.

If I may interject here... It’s not just one side. My test yesterday showed that this “jerk” like actions is a big part of PRSI. Only the reported ones get dealt with. I spent maybe 3 hours in PRSI yesterday and it only took a few posts before my skin color was brought up, I was belittled, etc... I didn’t report because I was testing. But I could see how people could feel slighted because only the reported posts get dealt with.

It’s definitely a grey area. That said, I’m sure PRSI brings a *lot* of ad revenue to Macrumors.

Last time I checked I am perfectly healthy, and the last time I checked I don’t pay taxes to Walmart. I purchase something at Walmart, they give me a product. I let ads be displayed on my computer, I get to post here.

The forum is a business. The last time I checked Walmart doesn’t care what I say in their business. As long as I’m not endangering myself or others, or stealing - they don’t care.

Please show me in the FAQ or rules where it says I must watch or read something other than Fox News!

Agreed, I don’t think anything is going to change. I can see how someone would feel slighted being banned from someplace while seeing lawlessness abound.

This conversation is like applying a layer of bug spray to your body and then having to endure the mosquitos’ complaints about how unfair it all is, and why do we need bug spray anyway?
Because the moderator(s) in the PRSI section abuse their power.

And I’ll bet if you went into Walmart and caused a scene/disruption, or maybe many scenes over and over again you would be given a no trespassing order. Paying customer or not.

PRSI has certainly became an anti-American cesspool since the mods have wiped out the conservatives there. They have achieved what they wanted.

These baseless repeated comments are probably what got you removed from PRSI. If you continuously post baseless, pointless statements, you will be removed. And this thread is a prime example. Most of your posts repeat the same made-up tripe, provide no basis or source for said tripe, and project an endless victim mentality. These things, after a while, will get you removed.

In your moderation examples, one was "why would I watch anything but Fox News", which was a fully transparent attempt to bait others into arguing with you. The "blacks are more hostile" was likely the same. And reading through many of your posts in this thread, it almost seems as if you come here solely to bait people. Generally, that's not welcome.

Well, every since I got banned - I’ve been hitting the report button like crazy.

How very mature of you.

I peopose two solutions.
1) completely shut down PRSI
2) Make it an unmoderated forum.

Have you ever been to an unmoderated politics forum? They are awful, awful places. Conservative trolling circle-jerks galore. If that's what you're looking for, I suggest the City-Data Politics and Other Controversies forum. I joined there years ago to participate in a forum that wasn't as liberally centered, even though I'm decidedly liberal. I wanted to get a little more conservative debate going. Even on posts as simple as supporting better wages for working Americans or better healthcare options, I was told I should die, that I should be neutered, that I should have been an abortion, that I should be ejected from the country, that I'm unamerican, amongst all the name calling. No liberal could post anything remotely reasonable without being called every name in the book. It was an exercise in futility and a textbook display of immaturity. I left there after a few months. Reading your posting style, I think this forum would appeal to you greatly.

I don’t think any of the mods spend time in there so we’ll usually just deal with reported posts. We might pick up other violations as we clean up moderated posts but we rely on reports to notify us of any problems.

Which I think is the most efficient way of dealing with things otherwise you’d need 10x the mods, at least. So definitely not a slam on Macrumors, just fyi. :p
