I'd like a PS3 Slim for the bedroom. There's a 60GB PS3 (launch) in the living room (with a 320GB drive installed), but I'd like to be able to play other people over the internet (as split screen seems to have died these days).
Tiger, I must have missed when the Slim was announced by Sony. Do you have a link to that I can view later?
9am PST is Sorny's Gamescom keynote. PS3 Slim, PSP-Go! Price cut and a bigger badder PSN, make it so.
GAF is reporting that in Euroland, PSP + PS3 bundled together for 400...
Wow, looks like Sony is serious about getting back in the game. If there's a firmware update for PS2 backwards compatibility, it'll be even better. Emotion Engine + Graphics Synthesizer emulation patents in the past month? I think Sony's striking back. MS needs to watch out now.![]()
I doubt they'll put BC back. They're sods like that.
And yes, I'm still bitter they pulled the BC chip from the EU launch units and had the cheek to charge the same price.
Jem Alexander: From which he picks up the new slimmer PS3, available in the first week of September
299 Euros, 299 dollars. (in pound sterling plx?)
New PSP colours. New shorter Loco Roco game. Firmware 3.0.
Cool beans?
Its always funny to see people reward MS for mediocrity. Latest reports show that the Xbox has a 55% failure rate! But what can I say, I guess people are just cheap. They wouldn't recognise build quality if it hit them.
When MS released X360, 80% of CPUs were defective and they knew it. They only wanted money from Christmas sales.

Sony had a string of backward compatibility patents get approved awhile back for competely emulating PS2 titles using the cell chip. Surely, they didn't develop that for no reason.
However, I have the 60GB launch model. So, it doesn't matter much to me.
I hope we get a new firmware update that adds new features. We haven't had a firmware update in what seems like forever.
The PS3 Slim has officially been confirmed by Sony, and it's coming in at a great price: $299.99. The system will be available in the first week of September, feature a 120GB hard drive, and will be around a third smaller and lighter than the first-generation systems. It gets better: if you don't want to wait on the Slim, tomorrow you'll be able to go to your favorite retailer and buy an existing PS3 for $299.99 as well.

Smaller is nice, but no backwards compatibility is a deal breaker.![]()
Firmware 3 is.....yawn, nothing substantial. Just adding the store update in many locations really. The rest is nice, should have been done before. Still M$ XBL is the clear winner even at only $50/yr.
