The new PS3 slim design is horrendous. Look at the power and eject buttons! Should have kept the clean, seamless look. It also looks like the same material the current PS2 slims are made out of. Eck...

^ Actually was just looking at the pictures released and I have to agree with you in reflection. It's looking somewhat very cheap now, and not in a particularly good way

Ouch. Still a ways to go, if this was released at a really low price it would have stormed over everything. That's not much from the previous price.
I prefer the glossy look of the older one too. But that really is a lot shorter!

Yup because I actually buy the console the stare at the thing....seriously The buttons are ugly though but I'm just glad the price went down no features was lost....this leaves MS to revamp the elite(maybe add those HD cables back in the bundle and drop the ridiculous HDD price)

YES. I only have a 20gb drive so I can't fit many downloads on it, so if Microsoft wants money from me to buy their software they best lower the price of the HDD! And the wifi.

Yep M$ need to add the cables, and revamp the elite with wifi as standard 'finally', however I suspect they may only do that with the rumored Xbox Natal upgrade.
I find it funny how the interviews and specs all say "... and a third lighter!", umm... why does it matter so much that its lighter! Its not exactly portable!

So september will be the month i get a BluRay player for the living room.
I hate to "unwire" my 60 GB PS3 and bring it to the living room only to watch a BluRay Disc.

So as for the look of the slim, I'd say, it'll probably look better in person than with pictures. I thought the PS3 looked butt ugly until I saw it in person.
But finally, this makes Sony truly competitive again. Now no one has no excuse to buy a PS3. They have a great range of awesome exclusives. I'm glad that now there's only ONE SKU. Very smart move. I think MS should be VERY worried now. Their system is looking to be overpriced for what you get. I mean c'mon, no wifi when even the Wii comes built in with it?

believe it or not, I still use Driver 2 for the PS1 haha
All PS3s are PS1 backward compatible. So you can play Driver 2. It's PS2 compatibility that was dropped.
That makes no sense to me...
Maybe I could get my job to buy me one of these. It should be tested.

Wait what. I connect to Live on my Xbox that I only paid £110 for. That's less than half the price of a PS3 (even though its anecdotal since I had access to a spare HDD and use my Macbook as a wifi bridge).
And it's still quite expensive. It's just a bit more than an Elite here, which was an optional system anyways (the Pro model comes with almost everything needed). How well do the Elites sell against the Arcade and Pro?

Looks like I'll have to grab another PS3. That'll make 4 PS3s that I have. A 20GB, 60GB, 80GB MGS model, and a slim. Woot. I imagine this'll help blu-ray movie sales as well as well as software sales.

according to your video, with the comparisons and all, the PS3 Slim doesn't seem that much slimmer then the normal PS3...it doesn't even seem 1/3 slimmer to me.

I don't even have 1 PS3. I was waiting for the slim and the price drop. now they are both here, let's see what kind of holiday goodies will get bundled with it... Darn that Blu-Ray winning the HD war...
