Remote access to alarms is still broken with the "new HomeKit architecture", been that way since introduction with 16.2...

For ****s sake Apple, fix it or just go ahead and remove recurring alarms from the HomePods entirely, without being able to disable alarms remotely it is an entirety useless feature that will only result in pissed off neighbours when I inevitably go on a business trip or vacation without remembering to disable my recurring alarm.
Can’t you just sent your recurring alarms to not go off if it doesn’t detect you at home. ?

I got the new architecture in December. Didn’t have any issues except with a few thread devices(kinda regret getting so many thread devices cus now THEYRE the problem ones) So is 16.4 changing anything for me. If we upgraded to the new architecture in December and it was faulty why don’t we have to do anything now? The OS just fixes it?

I have a fairly complex home, 76 devices, 6 cameras, Homebridge also bringing in some non HomeKit devices. Since upgrading to the new architecture I have had zero issues and everything is much snappier. It looks like we are really moving in the right direction with this upgrade.

I've not had any problems but I've only got a few devices, however I do have a Nest thermostat which I control through Homebridge and that still works.

For those wondering: I successfully updated my architecture on 16.2 as soon as it was released, and the update did not re-appear when everything updated to 16.4. If it worked the first time, there aren't any changes to make now that it's back.

Correct - nothing to do now that your architecture is already updated.

I was able to upgrade before they pulled it last time. With that said, I’m still dealing with an inability to add people to my home. Invites just don’t go out. Very frustrating.

this may be a dealbreaker for some people, upgrading the architecture required everyone to be upgraded to 16.4, so if you - or invited people - use older devices (not being able to upgrade to 16.4) to control HomeKit I'd NOT upgrade but rather wait and see

It may be obvious, but it’s worth mentioning that third-party apps (like Hue and ecobee) still work on non-updated devices to control individual accessories.

The frustrating thing is that in my experience, the new architecture is a massive improvement over the old - so much quicker responses, no 'lost' requests or feedback... but I still can't share my Home with the rest of my family, even though they're all running devices on 16.4
Curious why you can't share with the rest of your family?
I have not updated the architecture yet, but I have never been able to share with my son. Apple support is clueless of course.

Darn, thanks for the info. I have the same issue and was hoping this would fix it.
Have you received any troubleshooting support? Any path forward?

I don’t recall opting in the first time and I’m not getting prompted now. If you deleted and created a new home, does it automatically upgrade?? Anyone know?

I took the chance and updated. So far no disasters. Turning on my smart plugs seems a bit more responsive. I only use it for smart plugs so no big consequences if there is an issue.

Initially, they didn't even get my invitations. Then when they did start receiving them, clicking to accept them either just hung, or gave them a warning that they'd received an invitation from someone who wasn't in their contacts (I am), and even if they accepted, it just then went back to their empty Homes.

I will say anecdotally since updating to 16.4, it is better than 16.x (x < 4). I had "updated" it back in December, but the bug fixes in 16.4 seem to have helped the reliability as of now. I still have to see if I can re-add my spouse. :) We were having the same issues as @NightFox above.

Seems much faster which I guess is the point.

Have 2 meross HomeKit thermostats controlling electric underfloor heating which now appear as not responding in home - but work in the meross app. Will have to work that out...

Edit - turned them off and on and reconnected to home no issue

Seems to work faster than before. I had the feeling that HomeKit wanted the exact current status from a device before allowing me to manipulate anything, which meant that slow devices blocked everything. Now it's really responsive.

It also requires Ventura on Mac...which is also a dealbreaker, for now.

Just upgraded. Everything is broken or ridiculously slow. Trying to find an undo button. Any suggestions?

The biggest issues are with the Hunter fans/lights I have.

Restart hubs/ATV/HomePods and phones?

Apart from that I think I speak for everyone here when I say: Thanks for taking one for the team.

(I will wait for 16.4.1)

I had similar thoughts. One must assume it is taken care of by 16.4 in an automated, corrective fashion, though I don’t hold my breath entirely.

I had this problem with early iOS 16 ( before the architecture change)had apple on the phone a number of times over a few weeks. The solution (not that I called it a solution) was to remove everyone delete my home and re add everything then re invite everyone. it worked however it took over three weeks to setup everything again. I more wish apple had a backup feature for Home because if I have to to that again I'm looking for alternatives to HomeKit.
