Because that's how you wind up with Microsoft Windows. For decades Apple has been the case study in why software companies should cut off backwards comparability much sooner than Microsoft has been willing to. If you want backwards compatability that lasts for decades, you need to buy different products.I don't get why a company with the resources of Apple can't figure out how to make these changes backwards compatible.

I see. I guess it’s only on the new Home architecture.Nope, I still have it
You go first and report backDoes anyone have the Starling HomeHub for Nest integration with HomeKit? I want to upgrade the HomeKit architecture but I want to make sure it is compatible with Starling first .
Yes, updated to the new architecture with the initial release and no issues with my Starling Homehub with my Google Nest wireless doorbell cam. Eager to hear if you find resolution. I have a Homekit Hunter fan and it’s one of the more unreliable (and frustrating) devices in my house. Making it worse is not appealing!Just upgraded. Everything is broken or ridiculously slow. Trying to find an undo button. Any suggestions?
The biggest issues are with the Hunter fans/lights I have.

Interestingly I didn't get a prompt to update to the new Homekit yet, nor am I seeing this issue on my iPad that's still on 16.3.1.All our home devices are on 16.4 yet it claims my wife is not.
I’ve triple checked everything and it’s all updated. Any clues how to resolve this? (It doesn’t inspire much confidence to upgrade…add to the fact I will no longer be able to manage my mother in laws home remotely until I update hers too).
Is it really worth this agro?

I cancelled it last time, and it never showed again (was on 16.4, now on 16.5 beta).
It shows in the Home app under (···) Home Settings / Software Update.
I know; I guess I wasn't very clear! The option is there, but it didn't pop up automatically - i.e. I didn't get a prompt (again) to perform the update after rejecting it during the brief period it was available the first time. You still have the option to take the new architecture; and it's not showing you an upgrade prompt because you declined once already.

I can run it any time by going into the menu and selecting it.
Don’t know if I trust it
The update and invitation processes. The underlying architecture remains the same. A successful installation on 16.2 means there is nothing to change on 16.4So then what did they fix?
There’s very little profit in backwards compatibilityI don't get why a company with the resources of Apple can't figure out how to make these changes backwards compatible.
