You would think they would turn on Apple One before subscriptions run out... Timing is not everything but it is a lot!
I suspect Apple One is tied to iOS 14.1 and iPhone 12, widely speculated for next Tuesday (October 13).

If you are into streaming music, Apple One can be very compelling. Pay $5/month more and get Apple Arcade, Apple TV+, and iCloud -- $11-13/month value.

I buy all my music and stream through iTunes Match ($25/year), so I am clearly not the target audience. If Apple ever decide to offer iCloud-centric Apple One, 2TB iCloud instead of Apple Music, I would be all over it.

Just out of curiosity what shows have you tried? Admittedly I have broad tastes (I don't expect everyone to like Little Voice, for example, but I loved the **** out of it), but I know stuff like Ted Lasso, Tehran, For All Mankind, The Morning Show, and Mythic Quest were pretty well liked. Dickinson was also well liked, but for a specific demo. Several of the other shows were also fairly well demo-targeted.

And See? Well, it just sucked. And I'm I'm a sci-fi guy.

I've tried For All Mankind, Defending Jacob, The Morning Show - they're decent shows. But given the Apple branding and spending on content deals, you would have expected it to be heads and shoulders above Amazon and Netflix. For a limited time at least, John Wick 3: Parabellum was free on Prime. Amazon is more well rounded in terms of a mix of original content, reruns, and popular movies.

Buy new stuff from Apple (iPhone, iPad, AppleTV, etc) , register to new appleid, add to your family and fun next free year.
When you say register to a new Apple ID, what does that mean? I wouldn't want a new iPad setup for some bogus email that I rarely use. How do I register a device to a little-used email without making that email address the active address the device uses?

Until Apple removes ATV+ from the Apple TV app, I won’t even consider renewal. It is nothing short of monumentally bad, and I hate the Amazon Prime app.

If you’re going to cancel, consider checking out Ted Lasso first (if you’re interested in a heartfelt comedy). It was way better than almost everyone intended.

Also, I wonder if this is when Apple Fitness+ and Apple One will debut. Think about all the people that will be canceling on Oct 31 and how Apple could reclaim a lot of them.

I have Amazon Prime and never watch anything on it. I cancelled Netflix because it wasn't worth the money. My favourite streaming service is Britbox and I happily pay for that - I have a huge long watchlist of Britbox series to watch. I have just subscribed to a year of Apple TV+. I figured if I paid for a year in advance it would come out of one month's salary and I wouldn't have a monthly payment to begrudge. Done and dusted.

See was good, servant was good. nothing else really made me wanna bother to watch when there's so many better services. I haven't even launched the app in 6 months or more. But my subscription is included with student Apple Music so whatever

really - IMO, Apple had many shows that were from good to excellent - in fact, compare to Disney+ that only had 1 premier show in Mandalorian and nothing else.

To me it's a no brainer with the new Premier plan that has the 2TB storage, Music Family plan already $20, having news, arcade, Apple TV included its a bargain
....Um....what?

Disney+ launched with the entire Disney catalog of things they've made + things they've acquired. Their original The Mandalorian was icing (like originals are supposed to be)....not the entire thing, like Apple TV+ attempted.

Seconded. I almost skipped it because the trailer made it look really dumb. But it quickly became by far my favorite show of 2020, and I have trouble thinking of any other show in a similar genre ("uplifting comedy"?), from any year, that comes close. The writing is incredibly good - characters with lots of depth, avoids all the usual unrealistic cliches, and leaves you feeling good even when bad things happen. It's gonna be a long wait for season 2.

Thirded…or is it tripled?

One of the best things ever put on television. Surprised the tar outta me.

TMS, For all mankind, Dickinson, Mythic Quest, Central Park, and Ted Lasso. Love all those but I think my favorite is a tie between Mythic Quest and Ted Lasso. Can't wait for more episodes of both of those.

Waited to activate ATV+ until Dec so few more months before renewal. Only thing I really watched is the Tiny World.

I'll keep it. I haven't had cable TV now for 16 years. Before all the streaming services started up, we got our shows/media in...cough...creative ways. But now, with Hulu, Netflix, HBO Max and AppleTV (along with the Showtime/CBS bundle), we aren't really missing anything...well, except commercials. 😀

Yeah, I really enjoyed Ted Lasso. I didn't think I would, but it turned into a nice little, innocuous, "feel good" show.

Apple is literally the only service I have ever seen that stops your access immediately if you cancel your subscription. To be honest, I didn’t even know that was legal
I think that only applies during trial period and not during paid period, but not 100% sure.

I'll be continuing my subscription. I'm watching Long Way Up now and I think it's quite good, and I'm also starting Tehran. I plan to watch Ted Lasso and Central Park soon. The cost is minimal, so it's worth it for me.
