Reminder that, despite some questionable marketing by Apple to use the 5.8" horizontal measurement, the screen on the X is NOT bigger than the screen on the Plus. All it is is taller. The X screen is significantly more narrow, and the total AREA is also less on the X.

And please no comments about pixels and useable space. The laws of physics have not changed because Apple says so. If anything, the X losses space due to the unibrow and the rounded corners. Nothing wrong with it, to each their own, but don't expect to have a screen that is marketed as bigger, actually be bigger.

See attachment.

No questionable marketing involved, and no horizontal measurements either. Screens are measured diagonally and have been since the beginning of time.

So yes, it’s smaller than the Plus because it is a different aspect ratio. We all knew that already.

I still have my old plus phone. And I do see what the OP means. The plus seems to me to be a bit wider. Where the X seems to be a bit more narrower, but feels slightly taller.

"We"? I don't think so. Only marketing has been 5.8" to a population who was been force fed 5.5" as the Plus version for 4 years now. come on

You know what we needed? Another thread on this topic...

Not as much as we needed your comment! Thank you sir, may we have another?

Have you read the posts in this forum? Many people think the X has a larger display.

I've been correcting people for weeks about this (not just in these forums). More people have it wrong than not. I guess the advertised 5.8" diagonal size is what causes this misconception.

I'll just enjoy my larger screen iPhone X. Thank you :)

Can't believe .(point)2 difference warranted this thread (Whatever unit of measurement was in your screenshot)

I agree. Although, to be honest, OP does have a point. Especially with stuff like youTube videos. The difference is noticeable. I'm coming from a 7 so it's not as big of a deal. But, I could see 7 Plus users needing some adjustment time.

To call it questionable marketing just shows that you have no idea what you’re talking about.

They advertised the screen size the way all screen sizes have ever been measured. Nothing questionable about it.

The screen is indeed narrower, as well as the physical measurements of the whole phone, not sure if I am liking it as I love the screen on my 7 Plus. The apps that are not ready for the X look horrible, feels like I am using the screen size of the original iPhone. Will have to use it for a few days. If i decide I don't like it, I'll see if I can see it for a little profit, if not returning to the Apple store.

I needed zero adjustment. It's like going to a wide (or ultrawide) screen computer monitor. It's just different in terms of it's ratio. Why are so many people expecting everything to always be the same? Too many people scared of change (in my opinion).

Kind of surprised people are being condescending to the OP about this.

While I'm no Apple fanatic, I generally am pretty well-informed and up-to-date on iPhone news/rumors/etc. and I had no idea the X screen is technically smaller. I've known for months now that it has a 5.8" screen and honestly I've been expecting a screen basically the exact same size as my current 7 Plus but in a smaller overall footprint.

My X hasn't arrived yet, but I appreciate the OP pointing this out because I didn't know myself.

It doesn't look like you post here often, which is fine. It is simply because there have been about two dozen threads about the very same topic, with dozens and dozens of comments in each of those threads. Beating a dead horse to the extreme.

I went from 7 plus to x and im super satisfied. Screen is almost as big and since my hands are gigunda "The Rock" size hands, the user experience is better.

The amount of usable screen estate on the X is appreciably less the 8+.

Just about all content feels less spacious on the X.

This is something only a Plus user would really notice. If you are coming from a 4.7” iPhone you’ll be very happy because you gain a lot and lose nothing.

coming from a 7+

ill take the slightly smaller surface area display but better form factor/compactness over a larger phone.

i can actually one-hand a lot of operations on this phone

Been a plus user throughout the 6/7/8 plus models. I’m excited to be able to use the phone with one hand again. I do wish the width was a tad bit larger to allow the keyboard to be larger, but overall I’m really enjoying the smaller albeit taller footprint. This reminds me of the change from the 4 to the 5 more than anything. I’m sure future iOS 11 updates will enhance the experience. I don’t think it’s worth $1k but I do not have buyers remorse either. Looking at my 8+, the bezels seem completely outdated now.
