Past few days, it's been getting so much attention. I do desktop IT support for my university, so people tend to watch my hands while I'm working on their computers, etc. Most think it's really neat but are skeptical of the usefulness. I tell them just wait a few years and everyone will be wearing one.

I was at a doctor's visit today and ended up giving a demo. Then I was at a restaurant and someone called across the room "is that an Apple Watch?"

I think the Sport with the blue band was not the most low-key fashion choice I could have made.

So you are saying a wealthy, successful business man is going to aspire to buy an Apple Watch over a high end Rolex? LMAO!!!! wait, let me catch my breath...LMAO!!!! Some of you are straight up delusional.

But I already passed on the rolex and bought the Apple Watch instead. I like the way it looks and I find it useful in ways a rolex is not. A rolex is PURELY fashion and for the look. An Apple Watch is functionality and good looks at the same time. I'm sorry but I would not wear a watch just so it could tell time or for purely fashion. It's just not anything I would EVER do.

I dont do stuff simply because Im trying to flash my status...I make a truck load but just can't justify the expense.

People in class (as well as two of my teachers, one who preordered it) keep noticing it! They are thoroughly impressed with it!

The teacher who preordered it wants to talk about it some more since he has questions, haha. He is getting his in June.

I told people at work a while back when I preordered it, so they were curious to see what it does once it came. Cue lots of demos and here we are. Also people keep asking how much I paid for it. I have a SS WSB, but I just keep saying it starts at about CAD500. I don't want people counting my money. Lol!

I have never seen people walk up to someone they didn't know asking to see their iPhone, iPad, or Apple Watch. You all must live in some extremely friendly parts of the world.

When the products are brand new, it's not entirely uncommon. When the 5S came out, I had a few people that wanted to see it, feel it, etc. Same thing when I got my 6 Plus.

Everyone at work had the same reaction
First: that's dumb, waste of money
Then....those icons are so small u can't even touch them without opening the wrong app

Then when I go through the watch for about 30 seconds they fall in love with it. When they see the texting dictation and that you can make phone calls, they go nuts for it

High end watches are beautifully crafted and have hundreds of years of history behind them.

Third day I've been in the office since getting it last Friday...and I've been keeping a relatively low-profile with it. Haven't been showing it off, and it's usually hidden under my shirt sleeves.

It's just announced itself when I got an email ping and casually glanced at my wrist.

"Is that the Apple Watch?"

Cue 5 minutes of questions from the people who sit around me. Frankly, I find the "What does it do?" question very tiresome, as it always seems to be asked by people who are already pretty dubious about the whole thing.

My initial answer was "Well, it's a watch" before talking about the key attributes for me (the health/workout aspects, the message pings/the remote camera). I don't think anyone was too impressed. I really don't care though.

Since the guy next to me wears a particularly bling-y watch worth hundreds more, I was able to ask him what his watch does too. His reply "It tells the time!". Um... yeah, mine too. And more.

Frankly, I find it all a bit puzzling. People don't seem to be too bothered when others spend lots of money on a watch or fitness wearable, but as soon as you stick an Apple logo on it, they want you to justify your purchase.

I'm so tired of the "what does it do?" Question, I'm not Apple and I'm not telling you everything about it over and over again.

Our UPS guy (who delivered our watches last week) dropped off some packages today and he asked me about our watches. He was interested in knowing if we liked them.

My public reaction yesterday ... When I was at Starbucks "Hey omg is that the Apple watch in space grey ?" Is sure is ... We talked for a while while I was sitting in a comfortable chair enjoying my vanilla latte .... Long story short , he offered me $750 for my 42mm Apple watch space grey ... That's exactly $320 more of what I paid for . I went home around the corner picked up my box and charger and restored the watch, and he went to the bank and met up in at the same location, Starbucks, and sold it to him lol. I could wait until June to get an upgrade with the money I made from my sale , a stainless steel with a leather loop : )

What would of you done ? I could live without the watch for a couple of weeks and get a free upgrade ? I'm in no rush. I got to experience the good feeling having it on launch day ,and sold it to someone that really wanted the watch now, good deed for the day I suppose #

I've not had any reaction from people I don't know, but people I do know have asked for a demo and it's really hard to show how good it is.

I just end up showing digital touch because it doesn't necessarily DO anything it's just way more convenient than my phone. I think that's what a lot of people are struggling to grasp

Anyone had someone strike up a conversation with them and it ended up leading to somewhere private? :D

I was eating alone at a restaurant and a guy, after noticing I was wearing it, asked if he could sit with me.

We spoke for half an hour while eating and he ended up asking me on a date by the end.

Though, I'm already taken

That's harassment! #

Haha

I had to take out my iPhone pretending to be laughing at a non existing iMessage I was getting cuz I couldn't hold it in. it was just so random. I was sitting there, thinking about nothing and all of the sudden I noticed "something" from my left coming closer and closer

That is exactly why a huge percentage of the naysayers will slowly but surely change their minds over the coming year and Apple will sell tons of these. The initial negative reaction will melt away for many when they actually experience it through a friend/family member who owns one. Plus Apple will improve and refine the software.

You could even go as low as saying "it starts at $449" (Canadian). But I suspect many people will still go WHAT?! THAT EXPENSIVE!?

I prefer to say - "How much? It's posted online, different prices for different options"

cashier at old navy.

her:is that the watch
me: it is
her: (devilish grin) How do you like it
me: it works pretty well.

That was a very odd interaction.

Then today at the apple store; used :apple: pay on the :apple: watch to buy some :apple: product. Lady helping me showed me her watch (SS White band, very nice) and damn near lost it shouting "I just had the first :apple: watch :apple: pay customer!!!"

I've been queried by nine people in the 4 days i've had it. amazing.

Used my Starbucks card via the watch'a Passbook today and got a smile and "that's neat" from the cashier. It was much easier than flailing with my phone :)

I have tried to be very discreet with my watch, usually covering it up with a sweater or long sleeve shirt. It seems like people still manage to notice and i get a lot of "oooooo" looks

Great story!! Thank you for sharing.

Was telling a friend at work I was getting one and he was very skeptical, borderline derogatory.

Wore it in to work yesterday after getting it and showed him the watch faces and he said Oh that's nice looking

Showed him how you can make and receive texts and calls with it I didn't know the watches could do that.

Went over to one of our vending machines and got a soda using my watch That's really cool!

No teasing any more, he was impressed.
