so, yesterday, I am in my managers office discussing an issue, one of our VP's comes in, says is that an "iWatch", I didn't bother to correct and say yes, then he promptly took off his shoe and put it up to his ear like his was Maxwell Smart, said something about Get Smart, I wasn't expecting that, he didn't want to see the watch or anything, just joked about technology.

I was at the client and the Manager asked me to give him a tour during our meeting. he was very impressed by the watch and even wanted to hold it in his own hands.

the same was happening during a team lunch with a high director at my work. I did not expect that they also wanted to try it on. they were the first two ones who asked. others were just amazed and wanted to get a quick tour.

So far, nobody (besides people who knew I was purchasing it, co-workers, etc) has asked me about my Apple Watch.

However, lets rewind a bit.
If I got a dollar every time someone asked "Hey, is that an Apple Watch/iWatch?" regarding my Pebble, i'd have about a third of the cost of my watch.

I went in for my first physical therapy appointment today and my PT noticed right away and asked about it. In my area (Bloomington, IL), I haven't seen anyone else with one so far!

Champaign here. Not seen anyone with one but I don't tend to look at people's wrists too often I guess.

I have someone ask me daily at work if I'm wearing an apple watch and what all it can do. Some seem generally curious and interested in trying one after seeing it in action. Others are ready to state how unnecessary it is. I admit that it's not necessary but very convenient to see which notifications I can ignore.

I was ridiculed by my friends when they saw it, but hey, that's what friends are for, right? Nobody else has mentioned it, and I like it that way.

Look at it this way, these people who give you grief will likely spend more on alcohol or cigarettes in a year than you did for your watch. And the watch is obviously better for your health. :D

This is a great point. When I was a smoker, about 3 years ago, my habit cost me over $1500 per year. I suppose it would be even more than that now. That makes the Apple Watch a far cheaper (and better) investment, cough cough.

The waiter on a big cruise ship in Europe (likely not that well paid) recognized my Apple Watch. He said he was waiting until they became available in Europe.

Tried to pay with my Apple Watch in a grocery store a couple miles from Cupertino. Clerk said that was the first time she'd seen anyone even try. (Ended up paying with my iPhone 6 since I hadn't yet figured our which way to hold the watch near the POS terminal.)

Not to be snarky but "Europe" isn't a country ;) The watch is available in several countries in Europe. Also you have to double-click the contacts button on your watch to pay. Did you do that?

I almost always get, "Oh, is that the Apple Watch? How is it?" followed by, "So do you like having it?"

People are always just curious about it in almost an eye rolling way. I get the sense that people think it's a mostly unessesary toy for geeks with money.

And then there's the fellow watch owners like the one I was straphanging with on the E train yesterday. They always notice it, and I notice theirs, but the geek inside us keeps us silent.

This sounds rather unfortunate :D

You just summed up basically every single person that asked me about my watch. If they don't ask how much it was, they ask me how I like it in a half-hearted eye rolling sort of way.

used the watch at heinen's (a higher end grocery store) to pay cashier was BLOWN away. told the guy behind me I just paid for my order with a watch he didn't believe it. they asked me to buy something else. i walked away.

Why? If they were that interested I would have bought a pack of gum or something to demonstrate it for them.

because I had my 8month old daughter with me

and....

A magician will never reveal the secrets to his tricks

this, primarily this.

PLUS, have you seen what a pack of gum costs at upscale places? Im not paying $2.59 for a pack of pür gum when its typically $1.29

Only had my watch for few days, so far I've noticed a girl staring at my watch for a bit, other than that, not much.
