Purchase a 5c until my 5s comes?

I have a 5 now. I thought about purchasing a 5c unlocked to play around with until my 5s arrives. then i'll return the 5c within the 30 day period.

I know it sounds a bit rude and wrong. i don't want to sound entitled or whatnot but im tired of waiting for the 5s Nov1 shipdate? i feel like apple dropped the ball on us giving the same shipping date to the people who ordered it just now. that's just wrong. i think apple should provide "loaner iphones" in these backordered cases. so in that regards, i'll consider the 5c purchase to be refunded as a loaner. it's like when you get your vehicle serviced, they provide you a loaner to hold you off. what do you guys think?

I can't imagine someone with so much time in their hands to be consuming and doing a bad practice of refunding instead of doing something cool.

Keep the iPhone 5, do your homework, get good grades, get a girlfriend, excel on sports and science. Create something in Ps, become a skateboarder. Learn Japanese. There's so many things you could o instead.

Completely understandable, there are people who refuse to put in for a days holiday or stay up till midnight (or even refuse to make a number of visits to a carrier store to get one). That is their prerogative, no one is saying they had to.

But equally, why should those who were prepared to use a days holiday and stand in a queue (or stay up to make a midnight order) have to wait an extra 2 or 3 weeks so that enough stock is built up to satisfy the less committed customers who want to order at their own convenience?

Silly comment, stocks of the iPhone 5s are being delivered and sold daily.

Just because you haven't managed to get one doesn't mean Apple aren't selling them.

The thing is even if you did order at midnight there was at least a twelve day wait. And from what I've read stores that did have stock on the 20th had extremely limited stock.

Had the release date been 2 weeks later stores could have had a higher level of stock for launch day and this might have allowed for online preorders too.

im happy for apple having a blockbuster sales.. i'm genuinely happy for them. I'm just frustrated as a loyal apple fan to find out that someone who decided to order today will have the SAME Mfking ship date as me who have been waiting since 9/20.. now tell me, i'm no expert, but is that good customer service?

1) But you can't wake up for 10 minutes to place an order when you KNOW the ship dates will be multiple weeks by morning?
2) They sold 9 million iPhone 5s's and 5c's over the debut weekend, with most sales coming from the 5s. How much more prepared could they have been?
3) Depends on when you ordered, eh? I ordered a few days after release because I was waiting to hear reviews on it. By the time I receive it it'll have been over 3 weeks waiting, and you'll have yours within 3 weeks.

Don't give me attitude because you can't handle the truth. I have a 5 right now also and the wait hasn't been that hard. There's absolutely nothing you can gain by buying and returning a 5c. If you really can't wait then keep checking for in store pickup every night and morning until you find one.

The overwhelming opinion seems to be to suck it up and wait. If you have a 5 already, what do you need a 5c for in the interim? They basically have the same capabilities. It sounds like you're just can't wait to have a new toy. I totally understand that feeling, as I'm waiting for my 5s too (to replace a 3Gs, not even a 5), but just be patient.

I do agree with the OP that Apple clearly did not even attempt to have an adequate supply at launch though. It seems that most of those units they "sold" are unfilled orders. Lots of people who ordered on the 20th haven't received their phone or only received it recently. How many people who ordered online from any source actually had their order shipped before the end of September? How many are still waiting as we approach the 1 month mark? They can't have underestimated demand that badly.

There were hundreds in the queue I was in, there were at least 50 gold available, anyone who made the queue by around 4:30-5am would have got their choice of colour.

Many people used the Apple in store pickup this week with same day order an pickup for 5S. And, it seemed that there were more silver and gold than space gray. They are out there in store inventory and Apple online inventory.

Just going by what Apple have said more than once, there have been a few links to back it up so I see no reason to believe otherwise.

Then the vast majority must have been allocated to store inventory rather than set aside for online purchases, because that doesn't mesh with the number of people who say they placed orders within hours or even minutes of launch and are only now seeing them ship.

The carrier I ordered through right on the 20th is still awaiting stock. 3 weeks of taking orders and they're still waiting for Apple to provide them with actual phones. They now have the 5s listed as on an 8 week backorder.

If your a apple fan your should know this happens each year with an iPhone launch, why are you surprised ? I always order mine online just after the store opens, I know what happens !!! Had your ordered after midnight you would have had your phone just like I had mine now for a week

Every post I've read from you has seemed like you are either trying to justify your purchase of the 5c or you were trolling to see what you would get out of people, but this one actually made a little sense.

There are some apps still not optimized for the A6... Therefore the A7 and M7. May not have much use yet, but I will say the A7 is a monster. The 5s is super fast and still worth getting.

That said I did end up with a 5C. Only because I truly wanted something different this year. The A6 is still a fast beast. However I'm not idiotic enough to set here and say the 5C is a better phone then the 5S... It's just absurd to think that!

So, you're going to replace your aluminum iPhone 5 with a plastic coloured iPhone 5 that has no extra features, only to play with until the iPhone 5S arrives?

Honestly, that's a waste of money - even if you return it after a few weeks.

Purchasing a 5C when you already own basically the identical phone, because you simply must have a shiny new toy and can't possibly bear to wait a bit more for the 5S, and then returning the 5C, is everything that is wrong with the western world today, all rolled into one conspicuous consumption taco.

You are clogging up the system with this impatient nonsense. You are wasting gas and energy, and creating pollution, by either traveling to the store yourself, or having the phones delivered and returned by gas guzzling delivery trucks. There will be a time when frivolous travel by car will be illegal, because of all the frivolous travel by car we do now.

You are also wasting Apple's time and money. They have to pay someone to process your non-purchase and return. They have to spend time and effort to process the packaging for your returned 5C. They do not reuse it. They will then waste more time, money, paper and ink, inspecting and repackaging it as a refurb. All this added cost means that when prices for memory chips and LCD screens go down, Apple will NOT be passing on that savings to us with a lower priced phone.

Thank god everyone else doesn't think like you. If they did, the lines at Apple stores would be out the door and around the block, every day, all day. UPS, FedEx, and the post office would be overwhelmed. And the next iPhone would cost $1000.

What is it going to take for Americans to stop being so damn greedy and selfish? When will we be able to think more than 3 weeks into the future? When will we decide maybe spending $100 on gas isn't worth saving $50 on a TV that's 1 inch bigger than the perfectly good oversized TV we bought 6 months ago? When will it occur to us that our living room full of electronic niceties is the product of blood and environmental doom? That our grandchildren will likely live in chaos and anarchy on a daily basis because of our current lack of foresight?

Now you're getting it.

The MacBook Air I think is better than the MacBook Pro with retina. Just because it's thinner.

I like things that are agile and the 5c is better in that I can get the most use out of it.

64 bits and an M7 is not really going to get you far.

I had the choice. I got the 5c. I'm not going to wait for the 5s. It's not worth it. That's why I have the 5c.



If there was one reason why the 5c is better than the 5 it's that there's no scuffgate.

Anyone who's owned a 5 could appreciate something as simple as that.

When devs start optimizing apps for the 64 bit chip it'll be time for the iPhone 6. I had a choice as to whether to get the 5s or the 5c and I went with the. 5c just for something different. Honestly I was tired of the tock cycle. Now in one year I can upgrade to the iphone 6 and sale this phone. Maybe I just keep this phone until my full upgrade in May. Who knows? What I do know for sure is that I do like the phone. However I don't believe it's a better phone then the 5s tech wise. As far as looks IMO I like it better
