Purchase a 5c until my 5s comes?

I have a 5 now. I thought about purchasing a 5c unlocked to play around with until my 5s arrives. then i'll return the 5c within the 30 day period.

I know it sounds a bit rude and wrong. i don't want to sound entitled or whatnot but im tired of waiting for the 5s Nov1 shipdate? i feel like apple dropped the ball on us giving the same shipping date to the people who ordered it just now. that's just wrong. i think apple should provide "loaner iphones" in these backordered cases. so in that regards, i'll consider the 5c purchase to be refunded as a loaner. it's like when you get your vehicle serviced, they provide you a loaner to hold you off. what do you guys think?

Now, the 5 had scuff and dent problems, we all know that. But if you upgrade to the 5s, you'll have those same problems.

With the 6 around the corner, I figured I might as well get the 5C. I don't care about the internals, fingerprint scanner or camera.

I mean people complain about Apple coming out with the same phone, but then when they came out with one that looks different and one that looks the same, people decided they want to buy the one that looks the same anyway.

Now the reason that I don't care about what's in the 5s, is because it's going to be superseded in just a few months. The A7 chip is going to become the A8 chip and there aren't any apps that will use the A7 before the year is out.

I'll buy the 5c and then the big money is going to go to the 6.

I agree with this attitude. But it sort of contradicts your earlier point that the 5s isn't worth getting because the 6 is around the corner.

I do agree with the OP that Apple clearly did not even attempt to have an adequate supply at launch though. It seems that most of those units they "sold" are unfilled orders. Lots of people who ordered on the 20th haven't received their phone or only received it recently. How many people who ordered online from any source actually had their order shipped before the end of September? How many are still waiting as we approach the 1 month mark? They can't have underestimated demand that badly.

Launch had 80 people waiting outside their doors to get the 5s. You know how many people walked out that day with a gold 5s?

I HATE waiting for a new toy. it's hazing. money is not an issue, I can get the 5c unlock now and just return it later. I just don't know if I should just wait or do it cuz im pissed. LOL

anyways, for everyone saying that don't worry about the 5s cuz 6 is around the corner. well good luck with that. they said 5s was gonna release in june 2013 and guess what month it got released? btw: NOV 2013 for me.. FAIL.

A 5c is no different than a iPhone 5. It's subtle features like a plastic back and I slightly bigger battery. There is no point mate.

You have no idea when the 6 will be out. So your statement that it will be released In a few months, is totally inaccurate. No one knows when the 6 will be out.

Plastic scratches. More durable yes, but you will still get scuffs, just not silver ones.

We'll news flash , when the A8 is out no apps will use that either, same situation the a7 is at.

Why waste your money on a 5c if it's the 6 your want and it's right around corner?

Reading all your posts, you really come across as someone who is trying really hard to justify thier 5c purchase and putting down those that got a 5s. If that is the case and the 6 is right around the corner, people who bought both a 5c and 5s are fools though the reality is 5s customers are getting better value for money and resale value, the 5c is failing..... Good luck reselling that when the 6 comes out

Just to be clear, you did see my earlier comment where I said that I don't agree with you buying and returning a 5c just because you can't wait for a new toy, right? I'm in the same boat as you. In fact, I'm probably worse off since I ordered though a dealer associated with my carrier, which is probably very low on Apple's supply chain. They're currently listing 5s orders as "available in 8 weeks"! So I'm betting that I'll be waiting longer than you. It's frustrating, and I hate it, and Apple shouldn't have launched a product if they didn't have enough units to ship orders in a timely manner, but I'll suck it up, show some discipline, and wait.

And you're still saying the same thing. Bottom line, the 5 and 5C are essentially the same phone. If you want to play with a new phone that is the same as the one you have (just a different shell), then do it and move on. It's really simple.

It's simply frustrating that after so many responses you're still saying the *exact* same thing. You've heard what people have to say. You're an adult. Just do what you want to do. If you end up accidentally breaking the phone, you'll have to swallow the cost. If you think that that risk is worth taking just to have a "new" toy to play with, then take it. Honestly, if you were a child, I could understand your reasoning better.

And even IF there wasn't an abundance of them, as long as you went through normal channels to get one you wouldn't be "denying" someone who wanted one one either. They had the same chance as you did.

The return policy only works if people don't abuse it. Sadly, if they do, they'll replace it with an exchange/credit-only policy.

So all the people who genuinely want to try it and find it isn't for them get screwed because someone wants to try a nearly identical phone to his own for his own entitled reasons.

I could understand if OP was on a 4/4S, but from a 5 to 5C isn't going to entertain you for very long. Maybe the drive to the store is what you are really looking forward to most.

As for availability, I do agree it could have been made better.

But the loaner-car comparison? I've never bought a brand new car and have had the dealership lend me one until it comes in... and I've waited 16 weeks for a vehicle before. They don't owe you a loaner unless they're removing your current device from service.

Besides the color and the plastic back of 5c, is Iphone 5 and 5c technically the same. So you don't need to get a 5c, because you already have a iphone 5 that you can play with.

What do you want to play with your 5c?

-It does not have a Touch ID
-Camera doest not have two tone flash
-Processor is the same with your iphone 5
-Camera does not have burst mode.
-M7 is not even included in 5c

Unless you have fetish with Plastic with colors.
