i really don't like how thick most smart watches are, and i don't like how long the battery lasts even more. Hopefully the iwatch will be apple obsessively thin and last over a day at least. otherwise it will be a hard sell over my fitbit that lasts two weeks.

I understand the sentiment that we don't want to charge a watch-like device daily, but I don't see it as a major blocker. I have to charge my iPhone every night, but have not yet thrown it out in frustration.

Assuming that the wearable does have wireless charging, at least we won't have to plug it in. Just take it off and drop it on the dock/mat before bed.

Except that entirely kills the idea of using it from sleep tracking and/or a vibrating alarm clock.

It seems odd to have a perfectly circular sensor in a rectangular housing. Why go through the engineering process of designing circular sensors to house in a rectangular form? Doesn't make a lot of sense at the moment.

Maybe its the housing for production?

No I hate the fact that everyone gets hard ons over it just because the display is round.

I think people just get hardons because Motorola got the fashion part down. Being round is a big part of it. You really gotta see the watch in person to appreciate it.

This is the second smartwatch I've owned, I've played around with Google Glass and I also own a Narrative Clip. At this point I'm convinced when it comes to wearables, if a company doesn't totally nail the style part, it's never gonna take off.

It's not a watch - it's an ultra low-powered group of sensors and a microtransmitter that affixes to the underside of *any* watch. Apple doesn't want to sell you one of them - they want to sell you one for every watch you might have (sport, fashion, luxury, etc.).

Why complete in a market with broad consumer tastes and needs when you can use the existing market to deliver your product? The Android kids have no idea what they are doing.

I think that highly unlikely, and -- in the event it came to pass -- an indication of a sad lack of ambition.

Just as was the case with MP3 players, smartphones and tablets, Apple is in a position to disrupt an existing but small and imperfect market. I don't see any reason they wouldn't want to, but I doubt if a screenless base that gets bolted onto and existing watch is the amswer.

I'm new to this whole smart watch thing, but I'm assuming it won't work with iOS? The moto 360 looks great.

Everyone needs to start preparing themselves now that this product is not going to address every single use case and idea that we've ever had. It is a first generation product.

You are going to have to take it off of your wrist at some point to charge it. That's just the way it is going to be until true over-the-air charging is available.

Agreed. The style part if everything with a wearable like a smartwatch. If it isn't fashionable people just don't going to wear it. In that regard a smartwatch isn't any different from a regular watch.

Square and Fat body housing on iWatch,
(Yeah, it is rectangular to be precise. But really, it looks almost square!!!)

Protrusive Camera and Thick bands on iPhone,

Dear god...

Am I wrong in sensing the event tomorrow is just not getting more exciting?

That business model fits Samsung very well.

A big part of the decision process to buy or not, for me at least, is the look of the "watch". I am not in Geek mode 24/7 so personally I would prefer something to look like a nicely styled watch. Something I would wear out to dinner with the wife, or to gatherings with friends and not look like I have an iPod strapped to my wrist.

I am confident Apple will design a nice watch whether it's round OR square... but I would prefer it look like a watch, not a "gadget".

We'll see tomorrow, but it would be freaking weird if Apple with its OCD Jony Ive and tons of fashion hires in the last few years would come up with a crappy looking watch.

I thought this was Samsung's business model:

I don't think these are real. Placing that chunky aluminum finish on your wrist and expecting the trendsetters to wear it would mean the people Apple hired are playing a joke on them.

No way, no how. Not if they're serious about breaking into the fashion business, which I assume they are with their Beats acquisition and recent hires.

I really hope apply just copies the Moto 360 but with a full round screen (no notch at the bottom like the moto) Touch ID screen with retina resolution screen, 2 day battery life.

One can dream. About the battery life though, I'd take a true one day battery life and a better display (brighter, denser) than 2 days and a crappier screen. It's all about compromise.

If it's going to be square-ish it definitely won't beat Motorola's smartwatch.

Did you read Ars' review of the Moto 360. Anything will beat that watch. It's got internals from 2010. It may look nice, but it's slow and needs recharging "a couple of times a day". I was all set to get one. Thank goodness for Ars.
