I think I see how this works, regardless of the facts, a bunch of folk are gonna get their panties in a twist and accuse the nasty people of trying to rob their precious Apple.. even if Apple were in fact to blame. That's irrelevant , they will defend them as if it were their own child... I'll just have a quick look at the comments to see how my theory pans out... :)

Until we see evidence of it, these allegations are pretty ridiculous. This is the sort of behavior that will make any supplier never want to work with a company in the future, for fear of it happening to them... So, for Apple's sake, I hope this is false.

At the same time, making these kinds of allegations will make companies not want to work with any supplier, either... so either Qualcomm is desperate, or they genuinely believe this is true, or they have evidence of it.

If they had evidence, they'd have brought it to court already. Makes me think that it's 1 or 2.

Fun fact: the Wi-Fi/Bluetooth chip is not made by Intel, and was never made by Qualcomm.

The headline reads "LTE modem", I didn't say a thing about bluetooth and cant answer what's up with Wifi.

so in another thread people are complaining about Apple NOT using Qualcomm chips.. and here maybe we see why? Not all business decisions can be based solely on specs.

The reason people complain about Apple not using Qualcomm chips is because Apple is doing differently. Qualcomm gooood, Intel baaad when they have no objective reason to make that assumption. If the situation were reversed it would be Intel goood, Qualcomm baaad. Remember the tempest in a teapot over whether an iPhone was using a Samsung or a TMSC processor? The “only specs matter” crowd will always be doing this without regard as to how things actually work.

Well judging by the number of people who have ****** LTE and Wifi Intel failed at implementing whatever it was they were given.

Care to repeat that since your post is quoted twice in this thread stating wifi? We all make mistakes.

Desperate times call for desperate measures.

Yup. QCOM down quite a bit yesterday as this was simmering. Tanking again this morning. The Markets are skeptical. I call BS on QC.

Then the conspirator in me says it did happen, and Apple is using firmware to hinder performance on the Xs modems waiting to see. :apple:

I’ve been seeing the opposite from those on 12.1 beta. They are saying no change.
Having installed 12.1 beta, I'm no longer dropping 5GHz connections on my WiFi. Being an AT&T user, I can't speak to worse signals as I actually get a better reception now than I did with my 6S Plus.

If that's your evidence against Apple's alleged theft then you really haven't thought the matter through. How about the Intel phones wouldn't be nearly as close to Qualcomm's if not for trade secret theft?
No evidence. But given the long time suits going back and forth and getting nowhere, I'm just inclined to think it's just an empty suit. Who knows, maybe me watching the entire series of Suits, which is awesome, has me leading to such assumptions. :)

Qualcomm seems like such a petty, vengeful company. "Oh, you're not going to use our products anymore? We'll bury you in nuisance lawsuits!!!"

I'm glad Apple dropped them; hopefully others see how toxic they are and drop them too, though most companies don't have the resources to fight these lawsuits like Apple does.

These guys sued Broadcom out of their space a few years back and even prevent Samsung from brining the Exynos to the American market.

I'm glad that apple dropped this terrible company.

Here's a thought for all antiquated outdated greedy companies out there (including our beloved Apple) – open source your software and hardware. You will likely not be worse off by doing so but you will gain a lot, and such petty grievances will be a non-issue.

Qualcomm is acting like a bitter ex girlfriend or boyfriend. Get over it and move on or Apple is going to slap a restraining order on you.

Exactly. Are the folks here thinking that apple is a saint? Apple is quick to sue others - example fixing etc and definitely sues others for intellectual property. So why is it wrong for them to be sued when they do the very same thing they accuse others of?

Well in this instance, Qualcomm are missing something fundamental, colloquially referred to as “evidence”.

Qualcomm represents many of the things wrong with modern IP rights and modern companies that are more interested in bottling up older technology than actually inventing a damn thing.

Sounds like Samsung... can’t make enough money on your own (after being caught cloning the first iPhones) then try bringing up a lawsuit against Apple for anything in hopes you get some money to keep afloat.

Most companies steal from each other. Corporate espionage is a huge problem. Apple plays dirty also.
Who's to say what Is true and what isn't anymore. You almost or pretty much have to investigate it yourself to determine the truth or reality.

LTE is a big business - hence they all fighting for the greatest power. Stealing is a very wrong thing to do, eventually you get a caught red hands.
