I'm with you there. Very plausible thought. But I do think the chipset and camera etc. won't be too different between the 8 and 8 Edition. Apart from the fact that Apple won't develop two different chipsets in one year; an OLED screen, build-in Touch ID and a more premium design will be enough for Apple to raise the price tag.
Yes, but the integrated touchid, oled en 3d touch for oled will require quite different controllers en power management and requirements, so i think internals will differ in a lot of area' s, though.
[doublepost=1493209501][/doublepost]But please apple, for the gold, silver and rosegold coloured iphones 8: NO gold , rosegold or silver coloured glass on the back of the iphone, or on the front. Just use plain white or black glass backs, and just colour the alu and stainless steel frames. No distastefull samsung styling of the days of the s6/s7 that is just too tacky.
I would actually like a regular iphone 8 plus with the good old 16:9 5.5 inch display in the new design and shorter chins, that is a perhaps a little thicker. They could shave of about 4 mm of total lenght of the iphone 7 plus with keeping touchid on the front/lower chin.
I guess that is also going to happen to the so called 10.5 inch ipad pro in the same footprint as the 9.7 inch ipad pro. Smaller chins/bezels with the unused area above and below the homebutton " cut off" . So the lower chin will be just as high as the homebutton/touchid and the top chin in the same size, and shrink of the sidebezels. Their new look/design language: Same footprint , bigger screen or smaller footprint, same screensize. More compact...
