The best we could get is the repackaged S8 phone so don't hold your expectations too high.

If there is an iPhone 8+ with a ~6.5" screen within the same footprint of the 7+, I'd be more than happy to pay over $1000.

That would exceed all expectations and I'd be quite happy with it.

Why
Hang on, some people think Apple will release the 8 and an 8 Plus with the major redesigns? You've got more chance of seeing pigs fly.

The iPhone 8 will have a similar screen size to the 7 Plus but will have the same footprint as the 7. There'll be one iPhone 8, one.
why not offer an iPhone 8 with 5 inch or less like 4.9 inch . a lot of people hates their iPhone 6, 6s and 7 with 4.7 inches because its to big . I wish if I can have an iPhone 4.7 with less bezels and smaller body .

The iPhone 7 is still the best phone on the market. No smartphone, the new Samsung model or any other phone comes even close performance-wise. So a 7s would obviously continue wiping the floor with it. Software-wise, of course, ios 10 also wipes the floor of any Android device.
The iPhone 7 also finally fixed the details that made the 6 series the stain of Apple design. The iPhone 7 still looks amazing to this day.

Sure OLED would be nice, but other than that, the 7s will be the best smartphone on the market and give Apple the time it needs to finish up the 8.

It's Hard to say what we will see this year for the iPhone. I still think an OLED display is likely. But even if it's a minor update, I hope they do something physically with the iPhone, which would be a nice refresh from the last three years. But I also believe we will retain LED models until OLED is the primary.

However, I still think we will see three iPhone models. 4.7/5.5 LED and a 5.8 LED model.

That's beyond Apple's control to a certain extent. There's only so many OLED screens that they can obtain in time.

Exactly! That's the reason it should wait until next year when they can get all the components they need and are certain everything works as intended.

I can get onboard with that. My 7plus is a great phone so I could wait another year for an amazing iPhone 8.... However there are a lot of people who are waiting to upgrade this year, a lot of folks who skipped the iphone 7 waiting for this revolutionary "10th anniversary" phone.

Well we know this isn't true because no one in the industry believes Apple could amass enough OLED displays to satisfy the entire iPhone market yet.

Hence why Apple will be selling millions of 7s and 7s Plus alongside the more expensive OLED model.

If it's a questionable rumor, why the &@%$ are you posting it here? #sellouts

Aren't all rumors questionable... hence the word "rumor" by definition a rumor is doubtful or questionable.

Definition
a currently circulating story or report of uncertain or doubtful truth.

Geez cant that screen go right to the edge... I am beginning to think apple has Oppositional defiant disorder . These half measure upgrades are beginning get old.....
Eventually Science and physics come into play.....as hard as that is for soooooo many to believe in this world.....well maybe just the U.S....

finally sanity. this makes more sense then launching a bunch of different phones. Just one iPhone 8 in a 4.7 and the plus version like they've always done. I never believed Apple would release a "premium" phone.

Perhaps you're right, but If you're already dismissing the rumor why are you bothering to even post it?

Apple always get their sales forecast wrong at launch time when it comes to colour or size.
"Oh, we didn't think so many people would chose the Plus version", "Oh we didn't think Jet Black would be so successful".
If they launch iPhone 8, 7S and 7S plus, as well as a new colour as they usually do, one can assume that they'll get it totally wrong again, and it'll be late November before anyone can get the iPhone 8 with 256Gb in Blue or something.

Now we have had all conceivable possibilities. Wich basically means that we don't no anything about the new iPhone(s).

Apple doesn't have a "normal cycle". Our monkey brains have evolved to see patterns everywhere, so we freaked out last year when the iPhone 7 looked too much like the iPhone 6s, when all that is holy in the universe told us that it should have been a complete redesign as Apple had done since the dawn of time--or since 2012 when the pattern became apparent. We freaked out in 2011 about that pattern, because the fifth iPhone should have been called the iPhone 5, and Apple called it the freakin' iPhone 4s!
Yeah, four 's' cycles with one aberration (7) is just pure coincidence. /sarcasm

Remember that we had the first OLED/no bezel iPhone rumours in early 2016. And now rumours push availability into November 2017 with some speculating about an early 2018 release. A scenario where this phone got delayed multiple times, leading relatively early on into the decision to produce the iPhone 7 and now pushing its release past the usual September timeframe is definitely plausible (we did not have iPhone 6 rumours 21 months before its release). Of course, a scenario where form factor evolution is slowing down due to convergence, leading to the iPhone 7 (ie, three-years per form factor) is equally plausible. Moreover, these two scenarios aren't mutually incompatible.

My predictions:

There will be an iPhone 7S, 4.7", i.e. a spec bump for the smaller model.

For those who want a phone with bigger screen & dual camera, there will be the new iPhone [whatever], i.e. the flagship, with all the latest & greatest features. This will replace the S-cycle of the Plus model.

It will be simply called the "Apple Phone", to mark the 10th anniversary & set forth the future of the iPhone.

Ot the bigger OLED model will be the Plus model; the Plus is known to offer superior features since the introduction of iPhone 7 Plus last year. They just make it even more superior this year.

Why would Apple have two phones with almost the same bigger screen sizes (5.5 & 5.8)?
The only concern I have with this scenario is that the OLED phone has been rumoured to have only 5.15" of useable screen (useable for apps, the bottom being reserved for system elements) which would be a serious downgrade from the current 5.5" of the Plus model. Otherwise your scenario looks like the best rationalisation of a product line for Apple given the rumours that we are aware of.

I've been saying that it might be a smart move to release around march/April, which is when a lot of Android OEM's will put their offerings up. Then Apple sells new phones twice a year, and the Android OEM's have little room to hide from a big iphone launch. Maybe they'll even launch an updated SE at the same time. Hey, i can dream right?

One thing I want to see the most is a breakthrough in battery technology. Just feels this is an area that hasn't progressed compared to other components.

So we're getting an iPhone 6 with a glass back for an iPhone 7s. I'm selling my shares and buying an iPhone 5se. Fingers crossed for the 2018 iPhone 8, but it will probably be just as gross looking.
