Except for what winni said about windows xp being stable, etc, etc (I'm configuring a PC with XP for my business today for software not available on the mac side for an employee that refuses to try Mac-firing him is not an option before you say anything.) and the experience is downright painful compared to Mac. Pop ups, spyware, adware, crapware, bloat, endless security updates, etc., make me realize what a PITA windows is to use.

That said, Winni had some good points about Apple taking advantage of its locked down OS and hardware when it comes to pricing and taking away options.

Let's not forget Apple at one time sold more PC's than anyone on the planet (Apple II days) and lost their lead with some stupid business practices that it's competitors took advantage of. If Redmond ever gets their #$#@ together and comes up with a better version of windows (like making a new version unix based and running legacy software on a virtualization layer) that does anyway with the malware problem that can run on any mainstream system or that you can configure on a system yourself, I could see it drastically cut down on the number people walking into apple stores-unless they're buying iPods.

The posts on this thread are starting to get nasty and a bit personal-and BOTH sides have some legitimate points.
