Hmm..twice a month? Why spend money on a 6+ 128 GB phone if you're not using it as a phone? Not bashing just curious?

wouldn't you be better off with ipod touch or an ipad?

I have both.

I don't talk on the phone because I hate talking on the phone. Work in HR for 30 years and you will understand.

However, since I do not have a land line, I do need a phone. I just let people leave voice mail and then decide how to answer.

I am the voice of reason/common sense on these forums. She said she talks at most 2 times a month..for that, you don't need a phone.

Why you rolling your eyes at me? You think it's normal to buy a phone, pay for not only the phone but a calling plan that you don't use?

snap to reality..if not using as a phone, don't buy a phone. Of course people ulitmaltely will do what they want..sometimes they just need the voice of reason

I'll be the real voice of reason here, and explain that I don't need your guidance on how to spend my money or make my decisions. But I do appreciate your concern.

Radiation levels for IP6 off the charts

I beg to differ. You may not want to hear the voice of reason but deep down you know it's true.

I would also suggest instead of playing with the phone all the time you find a few people to call you more than twice. I'm not saying that to be mean, I'm saying this in general.

This world is becoming a place where no one talks to each other. A text is so impersonal. Anyone with a wife, kids, friends, co workers etc should be talking on their phones much more than twice a month.

Has it occurred to you that not everyone has to live their lives exactly the way you live yours? I don't use my phone as a phone frequently because I am able to meet the people I care about quite regularly in person. It's still nice to have the phone's functionality if an emergency should arise.

Texts are convenient because people are busy, and they don't require one to respond instantly or interrupt anything.

I realize that this is probably your only social outlet, and I do have some sympathy for you. Just know that if the way you portray yourself here is indeed your real personality and not just a passive-aggressive way of anonymously blowing off steam and impotent hostility due to a sad, empty life, you might want to step away from the non-verbal communication yourself and go make erroneous assumptions about people you don't know, face to face. Just don't be too surprised if that doesn't work for you any better than it works for you here.

This coming from the person that talks on the phone twice a month.

Unfortunately you are way off. I am happily married with 2 children. I came to these forums last month to get some info for the upcoming iphone. I found great information here but I also found myself amused by some comments and threads that are started. Not only amused but amazed.

So now when I come to the forums and see things I find ridiculous. I point them out, just as I would do to my children or any friend or family member.

I'm not the one that talks on the phone twice a month as you claim. To me that is incomprehensible and that is why I posted here. Not to be anything other than...

Simple solution to Radiation

Just bend the phone to redirect it in another direction!

Apple is always thinking of us. :D

I no crap learned something

I was not aware that it is not recommended to carry a phone in your pocket. That is crazy! I used an iPhone 5 and an S4 entirely with no case. I have a case on my 6+. Hopefully that helps.

If you haven't figured it out yet, communication has evolved beyond the antiquated phone call. Some of those evolutions are less personal, some are more personal.

Texts and Facebook may be less personal, but FaceTime, Google Hangouts, Skype and many other new tools are more capable than phone calls. So, it's very easy to have rich and personal relationships with other people and rarely have phone calls.

Yet, for the time being, having an active and available phone line is still essential if someone needs to get ahold of you immediately for an emergency or other time-critical matter. The phone line still has its place so it can't be discarded, but it certainly no longer needs to be the primary method of communication. Thus, it's very practical that someone would have an iPhone but rarely use it for phone calls. If that is "incomprehensible" to you, I'd suggest that you might want to broaden your thought process.

I understand the arguments about non-ionizing radiation not being able to damage dna, but while cancer association hasn't been linked they have found tumors rates on the side of the body the phone is used on to be higher.

Researchers from the Department of Oncology at University Hospital in Sweden reviewed several studies on cell phone use and tumors. The results, published in the International Journal of Oncology , found that there was no significant association with cell phone use and overall tumor growth, but there was a pattern in ipsilateral (same side) tumor growth and cell phone use.

There are also some studies of lower male fertility rates. While my worry level is low because I understand it's not ionizing radiation, I think there is still some effects of non-ionizing radiation we don't fully understand. I'm honestly more worried about effects in the thigh area than near my head because that's where my phone is 16 hours of the day.

If you are on wifi, why would the cel antennas be in use, or vice-versa? I guess for phone calls, until all carriers support wifi calling, but that seems to be coming along soon.

Microwave radiation is non-ionizing. It won't hurt you, won't give you a sun tan, etc.

All double blind tests have shown that microwave, Wi-FI, cell phones and towers, have no affect. It falls under the white noise of placebo.

Now another issue, does the extra output of the phone cause interference with your car stereo? I am thinking it might, and that's an issue for me.

I figure your joking, but its worth noting that the iPhone, smartphones in general, don't produce caner causing radiation, RF energy is non-ionizing radiation.

It can excite water molecules, generate heat, cause burns. But it doesn't displace electrons, which damages DNA and causes cancer.

You seem very knowledgeable on the subject. I've studied it, albeit briefly, in the past.

This is based on a statical bias. Statistics is not causation, it's just coincidence.

Statistical analisys has screwed us many times. The US diet is totally messed up and now we are suffering from diabetes, because statistics suggested that fat was bad for you. Now we know that this is not true, it's sugar that's bad for you.

There could be other reasons for tumors or it might be a combination of things. Stress and inflammation, causes cell damage, and can lead to these things.

Get a cheap dumb phone for your emegrency calls, and get an ipad

..voice of reason

Why are you telling this person what is and what isn't right for them? Why tell them to buy and carry two different devices? They didn't ask for your "voice of reason"

So a friend of mine wants the new iphone6 and wanted to know about the SAR rating for the phone first. I went and checked for him and was shocked that it's so high when all radios are turned on. The legal limit is 1.6 and the iphone6 is 1.59. yikes. Anyone concerned with this? Get your aluminum hats on.

No, I'll wear my tin foil hat. I'm fine

I'll take a phone from today over any of the cell phones I used 20 years ago.

Besides, kids these days don't put phones next to their heads. They text. No cause for concern folks. Move along. Nothing to see here. Move along.
