Yeah same here, i noticed the exact same thing you did. I asked the manager about 5 times if it would be this friday that I would receive my phone. He assured me I would. I'm still a little concerned though and I will definitely try to get my 50.00 back if I don't get the phone this Friday.
Likewise, they said I should get mine this friday, although the email I got said it was being delivered to the store 10/5...
AFAIK yesterday (Monday) was actually the last day. You could still go by and see if you can get on a waiting list thingy like I did.
I called the RS I ordered from yesterday and asked if any phones were still available.The manager told me at 455ET that only 2 Verizon phones were still available.No more Sprint or AT&T.I cancelled both my Apple & AT&T orders after I ordered mine at RS on Monday morning.
The worst thing about ordering from Radio Shack may be the fact that you have to sit around and wait for them to call you. Im gonna be stressed all day lol.
Call them tomorrow evening as the phones should be arriving at the store today. The manager will have to sort them and assign them to pre-orders. Depending on the store and who you talk to you might get an answer.
Also I would just show up when they open on Friday as you can get them to do it then.
Meh, I dont want to bug. I also ordered on the last day they were taking preorders. The employee told me they're calling people in the order that they preordered so I know I wont be getting a call immediately when they open Friday morning. Wishful thinking.
He said they would have my phone though. So Im gonna just go to work on Friday and try not to have a heart attack.
You are taking a real chance ordering from Radio Shack. They are completely clueless. I just came from my local RS and the guy tells me this whole story that nobody is going to have stock on launch day, not even the Apple stores and that only the people who pre-ordered are going to get them on launch day. I just said ok and walked away shaking my head.
You are the 1% of us who is just going to relax on launch day and not go OCD about getting their phone.
Well I just started a new job, so I can't skip work to wait for a phone. I live in NYC and work in Midtown, but my phone is reserved in Harlem. So when they call, Im just hoping I have time to run uptown and get it. It'll take me at least an hour, but Ill have to disguise it as lunch lol.
Believe me, Ill be quietly going OCD in my head.
Just wanted to give everyone an update. I just called a local RS (not the one I PO from) and asked if they will have the i5 this Friday. She informed me that they are getting a certain amount ON FRIDAY and those will go out to the people that PO. If someone doesn't pick up their PO within 3 days, then it will be up for purchase from anyone.
So what it sounds like (and what they told me at the RS I per-ordered at), is that they WILL come on Friday, But they will only have enough for the allocated POs.

I was told this same thing. I asked "So there is NO WAY that you will NOT have my phone. And I was told "that rarely happens" from one, and that they would DEFINITELY have my phone from another. "The unit is yours. You just paid this $50, the unit is yours".
So as long as he wasnt ********ting me, im expecting to have my phone tomorrow.
There is no guarantee that they will have your phone. The Radio Shack receipt that they gave you with your preorder specifically says that it may take weeks due to the high demand for the phone.
However, it does say that when they receive phones they assign them to the preorders and the phone you are assigned is specifically yours for 3 days from the time that they contact you. Once the 3 days are up it is released into inventory.

I called this AM and the manager expects to receive the small shipment tomorrow.Since only 12 phones are in the order,I figure 5 minutes to sort.
I'll be there around 10AM Friday to pick mine up.The manager also ordered from the store-her 1st iPhone.

The only calls they will be making are to those on the waitlist.We have 3 days to pick up our orders and then the waitlist comes into play.
Good.I'm am glad you won't be ordering from RS.It will free one up for the rest of us.But I will have my RS phone before your UPS delivery.

My RS specifically told me that they WILL call me regarding when I could pick up my PO.
Lesson? Call or No call, go into your RS on Friday.
