NEW VERSION AVAILABLE FOR DOWNLOAD PLEASE CHECK SITE OR UPDATE IN APPLICATION

I just trief Radon. the buttons are too big! too much brushed metal, No bookmarks, too simple, slower than safari when i tested it..

well, radon is small. it is fast.

but it seems to be only "mostly stable" whatever that means. i can't find how to create bookmarks, how to download anything (beyond using krypton separately) and there is no manual. so i'm not too impressed but maybe i'm missing something.

maybe they should port it to my OLPC XO-laptop ;-)

well, i like the fact that there is a very simple browser. but bookmarks are essential. aside of that it would be ok with me. i tested the tiger version only, however.

Ok 118 views & only a handful of replies,if you are giving it ago, could you please post with something like" testing at present will post back" then at least i'll have some feedback

thank you

Neil

Well it's...

  • Slow
  • A bit ugly
  • Doesn't appear to be loading until it does - needs to give more feedback
  • Pretty much useless still

And people need to stop advertising things here. Radon has been here before when the developer himself pretended to be someone who had just found it.

You don't need to advertise to get into Macworld Italy *points to Battlefront Mod Installer in his signature*

It's pretty fast,.. but the UI is ugly. You need to do some work on those buttons... steal the buttons from camino!

Small buttons option is needed. Keyboard shortcuts are not available for all features, as website states.

You guys are all right, and all have decent reasons to not like the radon browser. Plus it's your opinion so i won't expect you to like it.

But, PLEASE keep in mind, this browser is still a pretty early version. I've been beta testing it as well, right now the biggest feature in the browser is

It works!

:p

i know that sounds silly, but it's quite an accomplishment. The developers goal was to create a fast, and light browser.

He has sucessfully done that, it's actually very fast... and it starts up faster then any other application on my mac. Just remain open minded, and remember all the features you guys have requested, the developer(s) are well aware of, and are working on them :)

Many thanks for all your replies,as applefan69 just stated the browser is still in its early stages
and the developers welcome your comments & feedback

Please remember if you do try it can you post your views

Once again thank you to all those that have tried Radon so far

well

improvement

no need to install anymore +

still

when click, the buttons have a white background -
no tab function -

Its javascript is a little it faster than safari, but still much slower than opera 9.5 weekly, firefox 3 nightly and webkit nightly. Is it possible for you guys to just use webkit nightly instead of safari 3.0.4 as core?

Clevin:
We could use WebKit nightly builds, but it would require us to package WebKit in with Radon, meaning the application would be 40+MB

Radon "Weekly Builds" are something we are pondering

Just tried it. Sorry, but it's friggin' horrible.

No bookmarks.

No tabs, which (obviously) means no single-window mode.

No way to turn on the status bar (I like to know where I'm going before I click).

Tried clicking one of the links in this thread with Radon. No workie.

The transparent bg in the preferences window makes it very difficult to read.

Already uninstalled.

Heavy Doody:
Please no that this is a beta. Feedback will help us to improve this browser. If you could be so kind as to list all your concerns in a none "bashing" way, we can address them. We appreciate all feedback

To ALL: the website was just updated this afternoon with the new version, so please either check for an update in your application or just download it again from the website

thanks

tested 1.0b on tiger 10.4.10

like the large buttons

like the look

java works but scrolls slower than on safari

youtube works fine

no https

seems to use the cookies from safari. that means when i go to ebay.com it recognizes me. if i'm not careful and type my password there it seems i sent it unencrypted since there is no https. i don't like that.

still no bookmarks

seems you still need to download files with a separate program "krypton". that is not convenient.

i don't need tabs. i never use them.

For some odd reason everytime I start it up, it says there's an update but it's the current version. I tell it to install it and it does, then just repeats when it opens again.

Oh and I tested a myspace band page out with it, and it has randomly:

- refreshed the page for no apparent reason
- gone back to the last page in the history spontaneously.

Rather odd behaviour.

It does seem a bit slow as well, but from looking at it it appears to act like IE in that it waits until everything has loaded before displaying the content.

The icon is ugly.

Icons on the top don't seem to mix in well.

Just too simple for me, but might be nice for kids.

Software Update checker is broken.

Download 1.5
Select Check for automatic updates
"A NEWER VERSION OF RADON IS AVAILABLE"
Radon 1.5.0 is available, you have 1.5
Install and relaunch
It downloads, installs and then tells me a newer version is available
Repeat this loop forever.

Also, the buttons are a combination of too big and too colorful. They look like they are 30x30 right now, try 20x20 and make them a little less "bright".

I think it would be nice if you're pushing the lightweight aspect of the browser to make the address/buttons area as small as possible.

I really like the application icon though. :)
