No. Those 60M are the people who didn't want a crappy Android and couldn't afford the iPhone X. I think we call them the middle class.

Wrong. Don't assume you know the motives for everyone that purchased an 8 or 8+. I purchased the 8+ because to me it's superior to the X. Zero to do with cost. Imagine that.

I'm glad that my X purchase didn't come with me also being condescending. I really don't understand this mindset. Buy the phone you like. I thought we were all part of the Apple family here. Sheesh.

I took that as “you don’t have to be super rich to own an iPhone until now”.

Here with AT&T I only paid sales tax and pay about 45 a month.

I would love to see receipts of people who go out every weekend spending money on liquor and other things. I just don’t get why people are loosing their mind over the price and better yet attempting to put their hand in my wallet.

Hear hear, JZM. Hear, hear.

When you tell them it's only a bit more expensive than the 8, they say it's out of their price range and expect you to respect that. When you tell them you see the value in the features of the X for the higher price, they call you a wealthy fool and preach about some Android phone you've never heard of.

In the end, iPhone's are a premium product. Either spend the money or don't.

True. Either spend it or don’t. It’s almost Christmas and in the grand scheme of things there are lots of other things people to be upset about than a phone. ✌

You're in a vanishingly small minority, with that sort of rant.

Not so sure. Better to rant than to obediently give in to Apple's flawed design.

You must have missed the large top and bottom bezels on that Samsung housing inferior and insecure technology. (http://bgr.com/2017/09/05/galaxy-note-8-features-face-unlock-hacked-photo/)

You also seem to have mis-parsed the normal sequence in asking your question.

At least there is no ugly-as-he** notch. I've had my Note 8 for three months now, and it is great. Better than my last two iPhones in so many ways.
[doublepost=1514096639][/doublepost]
i don't see it as a notch. for me it's extra ears that give me even more screen what would be wasted space otherwise ;)

That would be fine except that it cuts into videos and pictures. Does Apple count the "ears" in the screen size? If so, then that is false advertising. If not, then kudos to them for being honest in their marketing.

You can’t be over the notch bc the notch Isn’t over you:

I'm over this notch and I'm tired of hearing people trying to defend it. It's awful to try to consume media on (why should I have to accept a hole in the side of my screen) and then if I choose to not use full screen, I'm left with 4.9" - WOW a whole .2" bigger than the regular iPhone! The notch serves no real purpose other than to allow added screen size!

I'm so loving this notch and I'm tired of hearing people trying to attack it. It's awesome to consume media on (why should I have to accept bezels around my screen) and then I can choose to not use full screen and still be left with 4.9" - AWESOME as it's still .2" bigger than the regular iPhone! The notch serves so much I can't believe some people think it has no purpose other than to allow added screen size lol.

I like the notch also. It’s iconic and it’s amazing how many folks don’t understand why there is even a notch due to limits of trying to fit a camera and sensors into this device. If they could just read they would understand.

The stereotype of Mac users being educated I have issues with because with the level of ignorance I’ve seen about this phone on this board...

I’ll just leave it at that.

I understand and accept the notch. It doesn’t bother me but I don’t like it.

It’s not ignorance to have a different view on something aesthetic.

If my wife puts an ornament at one side of the TV, I move it. I don’t cycle through the remote control looking to reduce the size of the viewable screen.

It looks like a design compromise Apple implemented to avoid a fat border/bezel at the top of the phone. People are putting up with it, but I’d say it looks half baked.

In the grand scheme of things, it's not people just attacking the notch, they want to Attack Apple. On a tech forum, you're going to have a divided class of those who support Apple and those who don't. In the real world, a small minority that own the iPhone X that Are around me, Have never even mentioned the notch. Some want to be close minded about whatever Apple does, even if it's fascinating technology like Face ID.

I Do you find it interesting to read the positive aspects of those who don't have an issue with the notch and those who have negative thoughts about it too. I think it's interesting to read both sides of the argument.

It is ignorant to act as if the world shares your opinion about iPhone X as well as ignorant to think you can tell people why something they purchased is wrong.

That’s ignorant. You don’t like the notch great I like it so let’s just disagree but if you sit there and try to berate me
Like many of you have attempted to over my point of view. I got two things to say.

1) I don’t care what you think
2) I don’t actually need your validation for things I purchase. Maybe you shouldn’t of had children or gotten married to where you have to actually check in with someone before you buy something. You can try to hate and bully me all you want but it doesn’t effect me at all.

I’m sick to death of nosy people putting their two cents where it doesn’t belong. Worry about yourself and shut up about telling people what they can’t and can’t afford just because YOU can’t or YOU choose not to.

Indeed, it’s very interesting to see how views have changed recently. In the past it used to be either you were pro Apple and an iPhone user or anti Apple and a user of another platform. These days Apple is even getting flack over their direction from its own users. I used to enjoy every aspect of my iPhone and defend my experiences. I can’t do that anymore without being dishonest.

I’m very critical of the X and I don’t mind admitting the price has heavily influenced the way I evaluate it. I no longer see past flaws and things I am less than keen on as I’d expect it to be superior in every way.

I don’t like the notch but appreciate the technology of FaceID and what it will bring in the future even if I don’t need it right now myself. The X has divided opinion more than any other iPhone I can remember so it’s just something we’re all going to have to accept in discussions. Some love it, some don’t.

Nobody is bullying you and I think you need to learn different opinions to your own is what discussion forums are all about. It’s clear you do care what others are saying here as you’re taking it far too personally. If you want pro Apple bias full of fluffy sugar coated opinions then threads like this are not the place.

I don’t think it’s really realistic to suggest people shouldn’t get married and have children if they want to buy an iPhone either. I wouldn’t trade my family for an iPhone X and don’t need to as I’m lucky enough to be able to afford it. There’s far more to life than material things most people don’t even care about.

I think you need a break. Merry Christmas and focus on the important things rather than getting worked up on here.

Maybe you should stop generalizing when you post stuff like “These days Apple is even getting flack over their direction from its own users”

Seems to me if the X was so horrible then it would not have sold out as quickly.

Some of the stuff you did say came across as if you were attempting to judge and bully. Having an opinion is one thing but acting as if a tiny segment of Mac users on a message board represents the majority is not accurate.

Honestly you have some type of issue with Apple and I’ll have a Merry Christmas because I don’t see any flaws in this product at all.

I wasn’t generalising with that statement. I didn’t suggest it represented all iPhone users but it’s clear a certain segment are unhappy. I’m an iPhone user and I’m not the only person vocal about my disappointment this year, it’s present all over the web and even on Mac Rumours.

I wasn’t bullying you at all? You’ve got a real problem accepting others have a different point of view and throwing in the ‘bully card’ is pretty low.

It’s not unreasonable to suggest the iPhone X doesn’t appeal to all iPhone users. It’s a cold hard fact. I still haven’t seen one in the wild all these weeks on so it’s not as popular as previous releases, that’s a fact. It’s main disadvantage is it’s price therefore it’s never going to compete for the mainstream user.

I do have an issue with Apples direction at present and I’ve admitted that many many times. I am one of their customers and have been buying their products for well over a decade. I’m entitled to share my opinion as much as you are and if you’ve got a problem with that then that is for you to deal with. Enjoy your phone and stop accusing others of bullying you just because you don’t like the fact they have a different point of view.

Samsung Note 8 and S8 don’t have a notch, so why did Apple? I think the notch was a bad mistake and it does take away from the screen size. Apple could have lengthen the size a tad bit to illiminate the problem. Perhaps Apple liked the new style to differentiate from the other manufactures
Your last sentence is the correct answer. It is iconic, just like the home button. We can debate the choice, but I cannot think of any design choice for a phone more widely discussed in recent memory, and that is marketing 101.

I agree. The notch is distinctive and, frankly, gets people talking. Marketing 101. I do find Android users tend to froth at the mouth every time an apple phone gets more attention than whatever the latest Samsung or whatever comes out. Without fail, every year. Even Samsung itself can’t run an ad that doesn’t heavily reference the iPhone, and I’m sure Apple doesn’t mind the free marketing. I can’t think of an instance Apple even acknowledged Samsung, aside from patent infringement. Apple only really competes with itself, and it drives the Android users crazy.

I think there is a lot more competition now so people will look at Apple with a more critical eye. In the past it was only really Apple.

iPhone knockoffs with crappy Android operating systems aren’t competition; they are iPhone copies for cheapskates.

BMW owners don’t buy Kia’s.
