I lucked out yesterday getting the last MBPR base near walt whitman mall in NY. I told them about the apple store educational discount. They were very nice about it and gave me the full discount apple gives. It was already on sale for $110.00 less, so they gave me $200 off of that. I got it for $1,889.00!! I would recommend trying your local BB's!!

I will be buying a Macbook Pro 13". And Aug 3-5 is tax free weekend in NC. So I am expecting to get tax off plus $100 for student discount making it $1040 for 13" as originally Best Buy has it for $1139 and tax is around $76-$77.

Is there any other discount I can get possibly? I think they have price already lower than Apple , right?

sorry for bringing up an old thread, but is best buy still doing the price match with gift card?

im planning to pick up the 15" this wednesday. if they don't, ill just go to the apple store instead

best blah

BB will match anything apple does.

that is not true....

there was a display model 17" macbook pro (early 2011) they wanted to sell me cos I asked if they had any new in the box and they sold out
i quoted apple's online refurb price and brought it up on that computer for them to read for themselves (it was almost 350 less than their tag price)
they kept their price but offered me a bunch 'free' of non-sense extended warranty, while I only had to pay 40 dollars a month for 3 years rather than the entire amount upfront for the additional insurance plan (basically)

they are pretty sly about making you 'think and feel' as though you are getting a 'good deal' but in reality they are scoundrels
