Bought one today at the Salem, OR BestBuy. Everything went as well as I wanted it too.
Whoever gave the advice about checking for the RMBP on the BestBuy website and seeing Coming Soon is 100% correct. I called the night before and they said there's a good chance some would be in the next morning. I called in the morning, right when they opened, and nothing. Then, after a half hour, I clicked the link and checked out the availability. My Salem store all of a sudden said Coming Soon. I didn't even call, I just booked it to the BB. I make it up to the computer desk and ask. They have 3 in stock, they had just been entered into the computer.
So, this guy in a black shirt starts to work me. He first says that I only get $100 with the BB coupon for students. I said "Whoa, $100? But Apple is offering $200 off on the Retina Macbooks." He didn't believe me, but said he would check the Apple website. Sure enough, it showed $200 and he said he'd agree to take off $200. But then I asked "So, I heard that if I give you this SKU, I also get a $150 BB gift card, ya?" and he replied "Sorry, that deal expired on Monday." Then I told him that the Apple gives a $100 iTunes gift card. He refused to believe me, but I showed him that you have to enter the RMBP into the cart in the Apple store. Then, the gift card showed up. He then went into the backroom to talk to the manager. He came out saying "Ok, we can't give you a gift card, but how about if we take off another $100 off the macbook?" to which I replied "Perfect!" Then, he tried to work me to get the Black Tie protection and open up a BB credit card to save an extra $80. I told him I'll think about it.
To sum it up, I got the 256GB RMBP for $1900. I'm really considering the Accidental Protection coverage, even though it's pretty spendy. I mean, if anything breaks on the RMBP, it's not like the BB Geek Squad is gonna know how to fix it. It's not like they can swap the RAM out, or throw in new batteries, or slap in a new LCD panel.
