My mail and safari started stuttering again on the new wallpaper. Now they're stuttering on a bunch of wallpapers that didn't do that before.

I've found 1 wallpaper that seems to be okay. It seems like the lighter wallpapers have better performance.

I wonder if I had to do with how iOS treats the wallpaper after it's applied. Some wallpapers are dimmed, while others are not. I wonder if it's the dimming effect that's putting too much strain on the GPU or something.

Well, I got my iPhone 7 Plus about 2 weeks ago and I must say, I'm having a lot of the same issues you're having. There are lag animations when doing certain tasks for sure. I notice a lot when scrolling through apps like calendar. Try scrolling through the months, up and down and you will see. Also the reddit app has bad scroll lag. Not sure if that's a problem with the phone or the app, but it is there. Another place I see it, is in the app switcher when scrolling through a lot of apps. Sometimes it even freezes for half a second if you have a lot of apps open on the app switcher and scrolls really bad. Unfortunately my phone also has the light bleed issue on the screen right at the bottom left corner. It's not terribly noticible, but can be distracting when watching something in the dark, especially a movie with black bars. So I'm debating if I should take it to Best Buy and get a replacement or take it to the Apple Store and have the screen replaced. But I just got this phone, I shouldn't have something already replaced on it.

I'm seeing better performance by using a more simple wallpaper (like a blur or gradient). It sounds silly, but it helped some of my lag.

I changed the wallpaper and I noticed many lags ! I am using the default again :/

I am using one of the stock wallpapers the one with the wave crashing on the bottom right of the screen. No issues at all.
I also have Display zoom set to standard view. Not sure if that makes any difference.
Maybe we should notify and give feedback to Apple that certain configurations and wallpapers cause conflicts and bugs that result in slower or stuttering animations.

Just bought a 7+ and received it yesterday. I highly prefer the new home button from the old one. And the battery lasts a little longer than the 6s+. I also like the jet black color and how it looks on an iPhone. I bought a clear case with front and back glass protectors so the back won't ever scratch.

Not having any problems whatsoever. Also feels faster than my 6s+. And with that snowy wallpaper or whatever it is, I set that as my wallpaper and not experiencing any lag.

Agreed. The speed over the 6s is immediately noticeable on my 7 Plus. The A10 Fusion has plenty of power. And the Haptic home button at first was an adjustment. I even was seeking a way to deactivate it to conserve battery life. But after being accustomed to it, I really appreciate the feedback and it's slightly addicting when using it. I don't miss the previous home button on the previous iPhones now.

How did you put a new battery in? Apple wouldn't do it for me, claiming I had more than 80% of capacity still.

My own hands. I handle the 6 leather cases and the 7 on a daily basis. Without fail, the 7 leather cases are slippery as soap. The 6 are much better, grippier.
I told them I wanted it and that was it.

My phone also uses the low power cores the majority of the time so that helps with battery life, too. I use my phone the same way, every day. Right now, at 5:20 PM, my 6s Plus would be hovering around 50%. My 7+ right now is at 70%! That's a pretty big difference to me and I'm very happy with that and the phone in general.

I play a couple games every now and then but doesn't make a big difference on the 7+ in terms of battery life.

OP, reviewers and real world users aren't experiencing the problems you list. Something is wrong with the phone or how you have it set up/apps running.

Yes apps can affect it. Install the google app, and turn on location reporting. Your battery will drain 5-10% faster easily, all because of one app.

Doesn't matter it's your second phone, there is an obvious problem. Replace it, factory reset it as new, or figure out if there is an app problem. I know it's inconvenient, but it's the fact of the matter.

Also, another poster stated that (paraphrasing) "this is a new phone and I shouldn't have to replace it". That's simply not how it works. Based on the law of probability, you can get a brand new phone that is a lemon. Period.

Again, I know it's unfortunate. But once you fix it, you'll be happier.

* the iPhone 7 plus is not slower than the 6s plus. This is either the result of a bad test, bad phone, or cognitive dissidents.

I use low power mode all the time. Unless I'm doing some serious tasking, where draws more power and I need the additional performance, then I deactivate it. But Low Power Mode definitely conserves. I'd be curious to see what the battery life would look like extended with the haptic button turned off. Unfortunately, that's not an option. I wish Apple would allowed to have this toggled on or off.

I had 6s Plus, now i'm using 7 Plus. If we talking about user experience, then i can say clearly - 6s Plus with iOS 9 had way less bugs than 7 Plus with iOS 10. Not saying that 7 Plus sucks, or something like this, but it's far from being perfect. Stutters here and there, sometimes camera opens with black screen (annoying as hell), more problems with touch id as i ever had, sometimes i can't answer the call and so on. And yes, i'm even made clean install (iOS 10.2) without backup.
At the end of the day - i'm OK with this phone until i remember how much do i paid for it :D

Thus it's a software issue, and I imagine iOS 10 will be similarly smooth by the release of iOS 11.

All your mentioned problem I didn't face any.

No black screen when opening camera, no facing cannot answer call issue. All in all I didn't clean install iOS 10.2 at all. Just from new update to latest.

After clean install are you ok with i7 and ios10? No stutter etc?

Lol my post said low power *cores*. Sorry about the confusion. I was referring to the processor.

Curious - how long have you had the 7+? I had the 6S+. After going to the 7+ my phone seemed to have some lag and strange behavior while it was still restoring from backup for a few days (took a while for all photos to appear), then settled down. I think 10.1 also solved some of the issues too. Being on 10.2, I haven't seen any of the issues you are having. Wondering if your phone is still "breaking in"?

I have 7 plus for around 2 months. iOS 10.2 is more stable than 10.1 was, without any doubt, but i'm still have random issues. And all of them software bugs, i'm almost 100% sure.

Just for reference, never use restore from backup. Because when you use restore from backup from the previous phone to a new phone, this transfers issues or glitches that carryover. Always restore from new. Perhaps this is why you are experiencing issues.

Well, forget my thoughts then.........what about the wallpaper issue @Jayson A mentioned? Do you have anything custom? Its crazy to me how wallpaper could have such a drastic impact but he says that's his experience. If not wallpaper, could be something else you have set up too.

On the wallpaper discussion, I remember way back in the early PC days how the background could use a ton of RAM and thus take away resources programs had to operate in. Wonder if that, or something similar is the culprit? People say that since the OS is now 64 bit and Apple is displaying the "this app can slow down your device" or something like that when running an app in 32-bit space shouldn't impact how the device operates since apps are sandboxed. But I would say it depends on how that 32-bit space is created for the app to run. For each app, does an instance of a 32-bit emulator have to run? If so, how is IOS handling the memory leaks? This message is new to iOS10. Maybe Apple changed something to improve 64-bit app performance at the expense of the 32-bit apps. IN so doing, they adversely impact the OS and other 64-bit apps? Something to think about.

Wow I saw an iPhone 7 Plus today.,pretty laggy.,.(orientation lock issue)I moved to the S cycle . I will Stick with my SE with zero lags (no orientation lock issue here). I won't go back to 5.5 inch iPhone again

Can it be different between backup from itunes and backup from icloud? (Stutter, lags rtc...)
