Whatever, dude. Have a nice day. I'll enjoy my picture perfect iPad.

ah, the joy of "whatever dude"...aka my "debating skills are nil".

sweet...I assume that means we won't have to deal with you in these threads anymore.

These threads are getting really off track, we are not here to call each other OCD, or insult people, I view these threads for getting information off of them, so if you are going to post, please post about the issue at hand.

got my ipad. no dead pixels, but the screen is a little yellow. The yellow wouldn't bother me too much but it's more yellow on the top half in portrait mode, with one corner (top left) some what even darker. I probably wouldn't have noticed or gone looking for such defects without all the threads on this forum, but the top half being darker does bother me, as does that one corner. It's something I think many people could and would overlook, and probably if I continued to use it I would eventually not even notice. For now I'm going to try the technique of keeping ipad on a white screen for a day or so to see if it gets whiter. Undecided as to whether I'll exchange.. maybe not, as while my screen isn't as uniform as I'd like, at least there are no pink and green splotches as other people complain of.

I really don't want to piss on your parade but I have the same issue, the whole white screen thing doesn't work( have tried it myself). To be quite honest with you my yellow half screen has now turned into a pretty pink which I dislike even more than the yellow but regardless it's still half the screen

Pink is the new white for the New iPad.

Reading through this entire thread, many pro and con opinions on validity of original poster's issues. Either dead pixels and scratches on his iPad purchases happened or someone's lying. If they happened (as I believe the OP), the customer has every right to expect a flaw free product, and this is not being anal.

By the way, why the sarcasm and nastiness in many comments here, and is that necessary? As Rodney King famously said, "Can we all just get along?".

Agreed.

considering you'll likely be able to see their new headquarters from space, I'd say yes...

doesn't that look like one of the spaceships in the "star wars" trilogy ep 1-3?

Just for the record I changed 22 iPads

Dead pixels
Dust
Dents/dings

I would prefer having a dust particle in the corner but not in the middle.

Just for the record I opened 2 yes 2 more iPads all 64gb wifi - 4G and the first one had 1 spec of dust the second one had 2

Don't Believe The Hype.
...

iPad 3 display is about same quality as professional calibrated reference monitor.

“the new iPad has a virtually perfect 99 percent of the Standard Color Gamut (a 38 percent improvement over the iPad 2). The colors are beautiful and accurate due to very good factory calibration – they are also ‘more vibrant’ but not excessively so or gaudy like some existing OLED displays.”

My ipad's yellow tint on one side is bothering me more and more in usage. the top half in portrait mode is a bit more yellow but the top left corner is especially discolored. I keep turning my ipad in different orientations trying to find a less distracting way of holding it while reading in iBooks. Also noticed there is a piece of dust trapped between the edge of the glass on one side (not on the screen, so it doesn't bother me really, but gives credence to some of the reports of dust under the screen). I may make a trip to the apple store this weekend to see what can be done and to compare my iPad with some of the others. I don't and can't exchange multiple times, so I was thinking I could keep it despite the discoloration but it's not getting less annoying so far.

I have the same problem and my whites are not white. Why can't you exchange multiple times? This is my first exchange and I fully intend on taking this one in for another. A screen with a noticeable darker tint on a piss yellow screen should not be considered within spec.

Mainly my problem is that I don't have a car and getting to the Apple Store is a pain. and if it's true that a lot of the units have problems that are not readily visible under the Apple store lighting, I'm just wary of arranging a ride or getting out there and getting home with another bad unit. This has nothing to do with whether I think there's anything wrong with exchanging multiple units with problems--I was hoping the problem was overblown on the forums, but my ipad definitely has a visible yellow cast on parts of it which I find quite distracting in normal use (reading).

Why don't you order online?

I did order online. I'd just prefer to exchange in store because then I could inspect the unit before just getting shipped another, or sending mine back and having Apple send it back to me saying it's within spec or something. I could of course keep buying and returning online if I keep getting units with a yellow cast but that seems like even more of a hassle..

If you are going into the Apple Store already expecting to find issues you will find issues. Stop reading these forums, it's not healthy for you.
