Pls help...

I desperately would like to revert to my previous IOS6.4 as since I loaded IOS7 I find reading mail and other text extremely hard. The translucent design is ridiculous. I guess it looks okay on a desktop, but not on the tiny screen of my iPhone 5....

Q. What is DFU mode and where is the Option button? I only see ctrl, alt and cmd....

Installed iOS 7 GM on my iPhone 5 last week. Not a developer, sosumi...

OMG, what have I done?????

OK, I thought, it's different but I'll give it until the 18th and then downgrade before it's too late.

A couple of days usage and it was all starting to make sense. Now, a week later, I wouldn't go back if you paid me.

Give it a time, people.

Hi, I'm OP! Look at me! I need your attention! Look how different my opinion is from the norm! Something really weird happened! Did anything remotely weird actually happen? Nope! I just needed attention. I instantly felt much better! Do I really feel any better? No, my life is still so sad that I need attention from strangers on the web. Is steve jobs really smiling from heaven? Nope. Hyperbole! Got you again. Anything to get someone to respond to me.

And the point of this would be?

I completely agree except one thing, if someone paid me good money I'd go back. Easiest money ever.

Hmm - got a UK iphone 5 - tried the iPhone5,1 GSM 6.1.4 firmware - but iTunes said it was not compatible with my device :(

Looking like I'm stuck on iOS 7 :(

I instantly felt so much better about owning an iPhone. You can feel better right now too. Apple is still signing 6.1.4. Here are simple steps you can take right now to enjoy your device the way it was meant to be.

1. Download appropriate 6.1.4 IPSW file for your device. Direct links from Apple's servers.

http://vipulmb.blogspot.com/2013/06/ios-612-613-and-614-direct-download.html

2. Open iTunes, connect your phone, and put your phone into DFU mode.

3. Once iTunes recognizes your device in Restore mode CTRL+Click Restore on windows or OPTION+Click Restore on mac.

4. Wait 5 minutes for your upgrade back to 6.1.4

5. Enjoy your new upgraded Apple iPhone and know that Steve Jobs is smiling from heaven.

That is completely ridiculous.

Will Steve Jobs's family pay me if I downgrade? Or Scott Forstall?

I so hope the signing window will be open for at least another 24 hours. My new iPhone 4s arrives tomorrow but it will have iOS 7 pre-installed. Please just a little longer! :(

I'll also be downgrading. iOS 7 was clearly not designed with functional practicality in mind.

I'm downgrading to iOS 5. 6 is just too close to 7. Luckily I have my ancient blobs and IPSW.

While I'm at it, I'm also making a Platinum theme for OS X. Way too shiny and easy-to-use.

Yes, it looks different. But I don't see how anyone can say it's less functional than iOS 6. Yes, it's brighter and less awesome in a dark room or car — I'm ALWAYS adjusting the brightness down manually. But the fact that I CAN adjust the brightness without opening an app is a fair trade-off in my mind. Plus, multi-tasking is SO much better. My less technical friends actually get it now.

While I appreciate that some people don't like the aesthetics of iOS7, I completely disagree with you on the functionality. I find that this latest iteration of iOS is the MOST functional to date. Easy access to things you need to control your device with far less button pushing than before. The functionality is what sold me, not the design.

And to all of you making fun of the folks that don't like it... settle down. It's their opinion, and it doesn't make them wrong.

OP: You need a girlfriend.

"Drunken Master" ..... Yeah.... HE'S the one that needs a girlfriend.

I foresee a new Apple Maps crisis.

Uh, yeah...

In my Brooklyn hood, Apple Maps has the post office, the hospital, pizza places, other restaurants, the grocery stores, BUT NOT MY SUBWAY STOP! Only something like 20,000 people a day use it. They have all the other subway stops on my line, but not mine.

This iOS is giving me a headache, especially with so much white everywhere. It's a migraine sufferer's ultimate nightmare.

No! why ? :)
iOS 7 is great

Funny I have heard nothing but praise for ios7 even in twitter and from family member but different strokes for different folks. So if you like ios6 better then that's awesome. No need for people to get upset with the op. His choice.

Overall, tasks take longer to accomplish => functional failure IMO. Of course control center was a huge benefit; no one would argue with that.

This is one of the silliest things I've ever heard.

I've not timed them of course, but it hasn't slowed me down at all. What tasks take longer to accomplish? (Genuinely curious)

edit: I take that back, things take me much longer to accomplish because I'm screwing around with all the settings.... it's driving my wife nuts.

Badly chosen color palettes and painfully slow animations are pretty much the 2 causes of the lacking functionality.

I'd say this affects EVERYTHING. Typing, switching apps, closing apps, going to the home screen, new browser tabs, scrolling, flicking, finding elements on the UI. The flatness is horrendous; some aspects of a UI should have more emphasis aesthetically so that you can focus on them faster, and easier. The overall look and feel is just a downgrade for so many tasks.

I downgraded last night too. There were just too many issues that slowed me down and I really dislike the new icons and colors.

Main issues:
Animations are way too slow.
Safari bookmarks are on the wrong side now, you have to reach with other hand.
Double clicking only shows you TWO recent apps instead of six.
Colors look awful
Icons look awful

Well that's a bummer. I actually really like it, but they keyboard is taking a bit to get used too, that's for sure. For some reason, it's difficult to type on.
