Yeah, really don't get why everything had to be changed with iOS7. Apple owns the rights to iOS6, not Scott Forstall and team. Why change how the battery charging indicator works? Let's make a little lightning bolt just so it's not like prior iOSes.

People moan that Apple(*) aren't "innovating" when they don't change something. People moan that they don't like the new changes when Apple do change stuff. Not all changes are good but you have to take a few risks.

(*) Or actually, Microsoft, or Google, or any other company.

I instantly felt so much better about owning an iPhone. You can feel better right now too. Apple is still signing 6.1.4. Here are simple steps you can take right now to enjoy your device the way it was meant to be.

1. Download appropriate 6.1.4 IPSW file for your device. Direct links from Apple's servers.

2. Open iTunes, connect your phone, and put your phone into DFU mode.

3. Once iTunes recognizes your device in Restore mode CTRL+Click Restore on windows or OPTION+Click Restore on mac.

4. Wait 5 minutes for your upgrade back to 6.1.4

5. Enjoy your new upgraded Apple iPhone and know that Steve Jobs is smiling from heaven.
apple is still signing 6.1.3 as well...how? cause I just did mine...

If ios7 upsets you all so much, I have a Newton you can fondle...

LOL...why are you so upset that people are downgrading? I like ios7, but I don't like the lag. Perhaps my iPad3 is not able to handle 7, or perhaps it is not optimized for the iPad yet. I'll try again when they release and update.

It's not. As has been noted many many times over.

And that is why I downgraded. LOL...it's like some people are personally offended by the fact some have decided to downgrade.

It's not like I said "screw Apple" and traded the iPad for an Android tablet.

I'm downgrading my 4S and my iPad at this very minute. Apple is still signing the old firmware. I had a hard time getting them into DFU mode so I used Recboot.

I have a 4S and my only iTunes backup is from when I updated my phone to iOS7.

Can I downgrade back to iOS6 and still use the backup from iOS7 to have all my apps/photos back on the phone?

No. You have to set it as a new device. I downgraded an iPad yesterday and iTunes said it can't use the iOS 7 backup to restore it on iOS 6.

Downgrade….ENGAGE!

I fought with iOS 7 on my 4 for five hours that I will never have back. Now I am upgrading to 6.0.3 so I can actually use my iPhone again. If I wanted a Windows phone I would go buy a Windows phone. Maybe the 7 experience is different on a iPhone 5, but I just want my 7 nightmare to go away.

Some things I experienced:

1) Overall confusion trying to figure out what does what and where everything is at. I've been an iPhone user since day one with the original iPhone and have never felt so lost in an interface!

2) Phantom Genius Playlists appeared in my "Music" app! 29 phantom lists to be exact!

3) Movies no longer have names?

4) Takes too long to scroll through playlists due to unnecessary artwork. I liked the "list" mode. Don't force me to deal with pretty pictures.

5) Speaking of pretty…what is up with all the flat, blah design of the icons. It looks like a bloody droid.

So glad I found this thread.

So my mum calls and says she and dad cannot read anything on her iphone, its too bright for 50yo eyes. I told her to go to the apple store as I always do.

I upgraded my 5 and ipad3 just before heading to the parents home and now know what my mum said. Stupid sister upgraded everyones phone in the house. Now I need to fix their problems and mine.

Thank you OP. I also find ios7 hard to read, to much white everywhere and there is no definite area for buttons/layout. plus lock screen fonts are insanely huge, I could only see 1.5 calendar entries, and had to scroll for more. previously i had 4 entries without scrolling.

I should say, IOS7 did look and feel more like 4.3 on my work GS4. just 4.3 feels much more refined.
If only Control Center was released with ios6 skin. if only....

I wonder what the Apple store guys would have told your parents. Probably something like "I don't see any problem" and "you cannot downgrade". To make things worse, the latter is posted on too many websites. Spread the word to make sure more people can fix their devices.

And a lot of people have multiple songs from the same album which means you'll see the same artwork repeatedly. Such a daft feature....

That's what bothered me in some Android versions. So far it seems Jony Ive is a big android fan and wants to androidify iOS at all costs.

Don't you just just hate the new Facebook too? It's so confusing!
