Received Official O2 MMS Activation Message

Interestingly, someone just sent me an MMS and instead of receiving the usual text from O2 saying "you have been sent a media message, please visit o2.co.uk/m to view it.." it came up on the screen saying:

You have a new MMS from:
+44 07........

And a big green "Dismiss" button at the bottom.

I couldn't actually see the picture though, and the message did not show within messages at all which is strange. I also still cannot send MMS messages, just gives me an error saying it failed?

O2 are definitely doing something though, which could be a sign of OS 3.0 coming sooner than we think!
 
I just spoke with someone at O2, of course she didnt have a clue what I was talking about.

Anyway she put me through to someone at Apple who told me and I quote "The new 3.0 software is coming out very soon".

Just thought you all might like to know :)
 
I also got this MMS message this morning.

I can now send MMS messages. The MMS messages were automatically updated on my iPhone.

Running 3.0 beta 5.

AT&T Stopped Sweeping

They have stopped sweeping accounts that have the MMS enabled, for those using 3.0. I stick to my prediction that it will be released soon after WWDC.

Sorry if this answered what I'm about to ask, but I don't know what "sweeping accounts" means. Feel free to educate me. :D

Is this (MMS being re-enabled) happening for anyone in the US on AT&T yet? It's clearly happening on O2, but has anyone on AT&T gotten the message(s) yet?

This gave me a reply saying "Thanks. We'll set up picture messaging now and let you know when it's ready. You'll need the latest iPhone software from iTunes, so make sure you've got it."

I then got another one saying "Setting up picture messaging on your iPhone doesn't seem to be working. Give Customer Service a ring and we'll sort it out for you."

So... what next? I have got OS 3.0 and the updated carrier file.

Try sending a text to 1010. This may activate MMS.

Didn't work for me. I even phoned them and wouldn't activate my mms said it was not an option ! Glad it worked for others though !
 
I'm seconding. Texting active works, took me a couple of tries but eventually worked!

I tried it on my 2G and i got a reply saying i can't do it, but they'll set it up so i can receive.

I'm not running 3.0 though.

are you on a contract or pay as you go, coz my spare iphone has a pay as you go sim and it has yet not been activated?:D
