Waking from sleep works flawlessly in both cases (auto sleep & lid close). It's instantaneous . I have not hibernated yet, so someone else will have to speak to whether or not that works.

What mode did you set your sleep to?

$ sudo pmset -g | grep hibernatemode
hibernatemode x
x=1, 2, oe 3

This is very uplifting. I hear problems with sleep on both the Intel 510 and C300. It's refreshing to see the usually unreliable OCZ working so well.

bit harsh...lol

I believe there latest f/w has addressed the sleep issues the old v2 drives had, hence the delay in the release of v3 - they underwent extensive testing to try yo iron out as many probs as they could foresee before officially staring to ship the drives.

The latest Vertex 2 firmware (v1.32) does indeed address hibernation issues, however the wake from inactivity/auto-sleep remains problematic. At least on my vanilla Early 2011 i5 MBP, in both the optical and HD locations.

ahh ok, i stand corrected!

Most of my V2 buddies reported that the latest f/w has fixed the sleep issue also

It all seems so hit n' miss!

My owc 120gb is working perfectly with the 360 f/w - yet others on MR report they are still experiencing sleep issues, again with the SSD in the hdd location

I have the apple 512gb ssd and get 210 write and 212 read in AJA. I want this vertex 3. waiting for the 240gb to come in stock. 512gb going in ultrabay!

But it won't hit those high speeds unless it's on SATA 3, and the Optibay is SATA 2, isn't that correct?

The apple 512gb ssd only has a sata 2 3gb interface so its fine in the optibay. The vertex 3 would go on the main 6gb interface.

What sort of optimization/customizations have you guys done after receiving your Vertex SSDs? Disable noatime? Resetting sleep mode? What else?

i agree.

dont enable trim. once i disabled trim (from trim enabler app), i havent gotten a single beach ball (i hope i didnt jinx myself!)

i also disable safe sleep mode 3 and set it to regular sleep 0 (ram powered by battery but does not write contents from ram to HD) just to cut back on unecessary read/writes everytime i put the laptop to sleep. probably wont affect long term durability of the drive. just me being paranoid. plus i hardly let my computer go into hibernate mode (usually plugged in always and i always quit my apps before i go into sleep mode or walk away from my computer) plus since the unibody design is in effect, there is never a need to swap batteries during sleep mode!

just a word of caution

i installed osx from scratch on the new vertex 3 that i got today. word of warning. do NOT use the 10.6 install disc that you can purchase. install the os from the disc that came with your macbook pro. i got a kernel panic when trying to boot off the vertex after installing from the 10.6 disc. i bet that disc didn't know how to handle sandy bridge i7.

otherwise, enjoying my vertex 3 240gb with maxupgrades "optibay" with 750gb 5400rpm drive. aja testing got about ~415 MB/s read and write times. i suspect the rate will speed up after a few days.

Here are my results for with the 2011 MBP 17'' and the 120GB Vertex 3 on a new install:

Why do you suspect that?

my old 2010 mbp with stock 320gb 5400rpm hdd would boot in 25secs
my owc 120gb will boot in 7-9secs

so at least x3 in my case

Total nonesense. Post a video and prove me wrong. I just installed a 120GB Vertex 3 in my 2011 Macbook Pro 17" and it booted in about 19 sec before I migrated everything from my old system. Now it boots in about 24sec. It absolutely screams. Any Mac will take 7-9 sec before you even see the Apple logo come up.

So so very very far from being true. My new mac has safari open in 13 seconds and has my mobile mouse server for my iPhone 4 in 11. I could have safari open in 11 too but i cant click the dam icon fast enough. 19 seconds with a vertex 3 is way slow, i have the apple 128 so ha :D:rolleyes::confused::eek:
