MASSIVE UPDATE - READ THIS:
Just called Customer Service for a second time.
This time I lied and said I had a friend next to me who just called and had his shipping upgraded to 2-day so they couldn't deny me.
The guy was very friendly and said right away "Ah, no problem man- I will upgrade you to 2 day shipping"
I said "Do you know how Apple is sending these out- it obviously isnt first come, first served"
Him: "Well, it is and it isn't. Was your friend's iPad 2 engraved?"
Me: "Yeah"
Him: "Okay, well his is shipping directly from the manufacturer overseas. Yours is backordered in the United States"
Me: "What do you mean backordered?"
Him: "Well, the ones getting engraved come from overseas. Yours will be coming from a warehouse in the United States,"
Me: "Really, from where- California?"
Him: "It doesn't tell me exactly where, just that yours is coming from the US. The regular iPads, not personalized, ship from the US. They are in huge demand right now, so that's why it's backordered. Don't worry, though, you should be getting a shipping update tomorrow because it will be your 5th day (it will actually be my 4th day, but whatever). So, expect the March 18-25 delivery range to be kicked back 2 days."
Me: "Hm, okay, this is all new news to me. But you're definitely giving me the shipping upgrade then?"
Him: "Definitely. I put that in for you."
There you have it- take it as you will I guess....
