if they are giving people who only have to wait 5 days free covers are they giving people who have to wait 5 weeks a nano?

Just talked to a CS rep...he said he could not explain why others that ordered after me had already shipped and some had received theirs without mine even shipping or being prep'd to ship yet. He did however, as a good will gesture, refund the cost of my smart cover.

I though everyone saying that on here was full of BS...guess I was wrong. Just call and complain enough!

Just called CS and bitched again! Got a free AV adapter this time!

I set my alarm and ordered a 64GB Black Ipad2 at 12:45am PST. I live on the East Coast. At the time of the order, my expected delivery dates were March 17-25th, however it has not even shipped yet. No updates, no emails, nothing. My orange case did ship but has been stuck in Alaska for over 24 hours, so that's not arriving tomorrow as planned either. Ive made numerous trips into the local Apple store and they don't know anything, or are refusing to say. I've pretty much had it with this Apple culture of withholding information from its customers that drop close to a $1,000 on their products every few months.

Is it true Apple customer care is providing small refunds for our trouble?

yes. call and let them know that you are displeased that others who ordered after you are already recieving theirs and that someone you know was given a smartcover for free to make up for the inconvenience.

worked for me.

Wow the box is small, the screen is great a thin line of yellow tint on bottom but very thin might be the glue seems much brighter screen at half brightness ,might be the white.

Oh this is my first post from it.

I saw someones go from Lantau Island to Indianapolis in less than 24 hours the day after leaving Lantau they had it delivered. It really depends how close you live to the final flying destination because then they will be driven in the Fedex truck.

Yep, that's why mine was so quick. Flew from Lantau to Alaska, then to Memphis. Then flew from there to Atlanta and I live in Atlanta so it made it to me 6 hours after getting off the Plane at the ATL airport.

Dude, business days are Monday - Friday, everyone in the US understands what that means not sure why you don't - you seem to be a pretty smart guy. I haven't shipped yet, but Apple told me that when I ordered they'd ship in 3-5 BUSINESS days. I expected sooner, but they told me 3-5 and its been 3 going on 4 days. Come the close of business on TH and they haven't shipped, then I will complain, but until then I'll be disappointed but don't see how I can bit** and moan about them keeping their promise.

i understand the business days thing - my remark was more about the factories are operating 24/7, my order had to be near the front of the surge at 1:03am PST, so i was curious why, if i was arguably near the front of the surge, would people who ordered online hours later be getting deliveries while mine was still Not Yet Shipped, which means not only that it has not been picked up by fedex, but also that the item had not even been allocated in the production line at the factory... what this means is that other units, ordered way past the time i ordered mine, have managed to find their way into a box and out the door and onto a plane and delivered to an address, all before mine is even identified as mine yet. so despite being among the first to order online, 6 working days (4.5 business days) have transpired and i have not seen one glimmer of activity, despite obvious activity all around....

i mean whatever - its not life or death or anything. but you can't help but think about these things when you're stuck in such a situation, waiting for your name to be called, and knowing that you did your due diligence to line up at the appropriate time....

in hindsight, they probably should have offered the white in only one configuration for each type of service... 9 different models of white and black units is just crazy....

and in further hindsight, they probably should have just offered an entry level model (16GB) and a prosumer model (64GB) and left out the 32GB... if the only difference between the three is storage capacity, i'm not sure that's enough of a differentiator to warrant further distribution complication.... make the selection easy and the choices limited (but reasonable)... macbook or macbook pro, not macbook, macbook medium and macbook pro. imac 22 and imac 27, not imac 22, imac 25 and imac 27.

have you considered that they might be waiting on your bank?
I am not saying thats completely it but honestly a lot of banks take forever to clear and you know damn well that they wont send you the product until they
get their cash.

I agree 100% - thank you for taking the time to post this.

That's the crux of the problem currently. Stock is split across 18 different models and they stupidly have the international launch only 2 weeks later and need stock for that as well.

Just no way to meet demand for a hot product with that many different units needed.

They should have done like last time and just launched with one color, and maybe just wifi first, then 3g a month later, then international after that etc. and rolled out different colors etc. later.

That or don't rush launches and wait until they have a lot of stock before setting a release date. I think they really rushed to get the iPad 2 our a month or two earlier since the Xoom was out and the Playbook is coming etc. meaning they were finally starting to get some competition in the tablet market.

I disagree on not having 32gb though as that's the ideal size for me. At least as long as Apple is bending us over and screwing us in the ass on the prices they charge on memory. Absurd that it's $100 to go from 16 to 32--especially when it's also $100 to got from 32 to 64 which is twice the increase!

Just got this info so far:

Does anyone think I'll get it earlier then the 18th? (estimated fedex date)

Lets keep our fingers crossed then!

I live in Northern Maine though, so it takes a day to get here (From Mass, NH, or S. Maine) all the way here itself!

32GB Black AT&T 3G... 1:17a/Apple.com

No change in my status. Not Shipped Yet.

iPad 2, 32GB AT&T 3G, Black, No Engraving
Order from Apple
1:17a PST, 3/11
3-5 Day Estimate

Almost worth battling crowds at this point... except there's no stock.

The press release about "amazing response" is code for "we ran out of everything and can't keep up with demand." Trust me. I write press releases for a living.

No. I used debit. My bank was cleared right away and they have taken the $500-some for my iPad 2 (no, it was not a hold either). They got their cash.

I'd probably wait till Friday if I was you. You were not in the first wave.

Mine said 5-7 days and its shipped out... But you really should give it untill next Friday before you get too upset at an Apple CS lol. Alot of people who's are said 3-5 days havn't even shipped so who knows!

nope. Mine is with yours and mine isnt supposed to be delivered until the 22nd. So your location must be closer to a fedex than mine. I wouldnt get too hopeful about it getting there any earlier. are you needing it for a trip or something?

My 32gb white wifi just updated to Prepared for Shipment so those that are waiting for white 32gb wifis keep an eye on your orders!
