Sort of. I get my son this weekend And we're taking a trip down to SD Zoo. I'd like to have him watch a movie or something on it on the way down.

He's 5.

yeah that certainly makes sense. I am in central cali. LOVE the sd zoo and wild animal park.

My baby is only 4 months but I know how antsy kids can be when they are in the car.

While we're all waiting.....
Q for folks here. Which size is ideal for you. 32GB or 64GB? With so much limitations on the way in which one can move and store into an iPad, what is ideal size. I'm torn between 32 and 64. My iPhone 4 is 32GB but then that's my music player as well, which this might not be. Have ordered both but not sure. From your past usage on iPad v1 or 2, what are the thoughts?

honestly 16GB is good enough for some videos, pics and all apps + content.
32GB if you are going to have tons of videos, tons of musics + apps and other content.
64GB if you're going to go all out on the iPad.

I researched a lot between 16 and 32 and decided on 16. I have 16GB iPhone and with songs + 5-6 videos I still have space available.

x3... they just told me I would see it next Tuesday :(

...but they did just credit back my amex account the 2 covers I have here waiting :)

(They arrived yesterday and today... same web order, and also came from Shenzen)

you and I are in the same boat. I ordered at 12:59 and the cord came today the cover comes tomorrow and they gave me a tuesday delivery date for my ipad. Maybe I should jump on the bandwagon and get my free stuff too.

I got a 16gb this time around as I had only used 9 gbs on my original 32gb iPad. If I get close to going over this time around I'll get a 32gb for iPad 3.

Went from 64 on v1, to 32 on v2.... with airplay and my AppleTV's I can stream more than before, so extra space is not needed... it's nice, but not needed, and since my $$ tree has not blossomed yet ;)

Don't know what's going on with apple and my order. Two days ago the authorization they took from my card on the 11th was returned in full even though they had shipped my cover and av adapter. Then a few hours later they charged me again for the entire order.

Today they returned the full amount of my order even though I have my red case in hand and my av adapter will be here on Friday. My 64g ATT white iPad is still not shipped.

I have to imagine this is going to throw up some red flags with my credit card company. Guess we'll see.

A gig is not what it used to be, and I really don't want to have to go buy a new ipad just to get more memory.

64 for me

And where do you see expedited shipping? The tracking info still says Economy Shipping...

Yes, it does say that but they are definitely shipping faster than economy. You think people will be getting their iPad this fast with just economy. I am sure that I will have mine before Tuesday. My Smart-Cover is on 2day shipping with a delivery date ahead of my iPad but both of them are at the same location right now.

Ofd

This is the complete detail of my ipads trip so far.....

Still waiting axiously

I ordered my Black 64gig wifi G3 iPad2 exactly 8 minutes after it went on sale online. That was 6 days ago and I am still waiting for the "order details" page to tell me it is in transit...but it still says "not shipped yet", but does say "ships in 3 to 5 days". Why, if I followed all the guidelines for ordering online, on time, have I not received my product?

Well if FedEx is gonna deliver it, its gonna be after 4:30 now. I gotta go to work, so I'll just have to wait till tomorrow for it. And hope they show up before 4:30 then...

Ordered a white 32GB wifi at 1:02 PST and still stuck in not yet shipped. Called customer service last night to complain and they gave me apple tv as "goodwill" and credited my account for the purchase of the smart cover. Can't complain now since technically they are still within the window.

I don’t think this post is real... I ordered 2 ipads and called apple earlier this morning and was given 1 free leather cover for the inconvenience. After reading these posts about other free stuff I called back and acted like they told me that I was getting 2 leather covers, but that it was only showing 1 on my order status... The CSR rep said that he was really sorry and that the first CSR must have misspoken b/c they are only allowed to give out $100 worth of goodwill... He then offered me the dock, which I gladly accepted. He said that the demand has been approx. 5 times greater than apple anticipated..but I’m guessing he just made this stat up.. I bet the real number is 20x... I’m just pissed that I ordered at 12:47 and mine haven’t even changed to prepared for shipping, yet others have already received theirs! But these gift make up for it so I can wait!

I can't help but wonder whether the haphazard, out-of-line-order shipping has something to do with the new order number randomization (described at https://www.macrumors.com/2011/03/1...d-2-orders-placed-through-apple-now-arriving/). Could it be as simple as that they're shipping the orders in sequential order number instead of by order time? Used to be, there was a monotonic relationship between the time and the order number. Sounds like a hack some inventory programmer would use, and the randomization broke it.

I dont think so. I ordered 2, in the same order. Same model, but one was black, the other white. One has shipped, the other is still "Not yet shipped". Same order number.

64 for me

Most of my beyond 32gb was video from movies that I just copied over, so stream works for me now... that and as mem needs grow over time, new models will also get released and I can adjust as I go. I know i will update when iPad3 hits. :)

I had 64 since last June, it was overkill for me...ymmv :)

Everyone delivered a day earlier?

Is everyone getting theirs delivered a day earlier than estimated by FedEx, or is that just a few people?

A lot of people must have taken the day off to wait in line for theirs. Why don't you just take the day off from work to play with it? If you don't, you are (some how) cheating the magic that is iPad 2 - and yourself! (and your boss too, but who cares?)

ipad 2 arrived this afternoon

I ordered my ipad just after 4am on the 11th. My girlfriend called around 1pm to inform me it arrived. I live in Brooklyn, New York. The package went from Shenzhen, Cn>Lantau Island, HK>Memphis, TN>Newark, NJ>Jamaica, NY>Brooklyn, NY

I didn't think I would be getting it so soon as I had a credit card snafu with Chase. It seems they thought my purchase was a fraudulent charge and canceled the order. Being 4am and dead asleep I didn't think to wait for the conformation email. Chase called me at 10:30am to let me know about the charge when I blew up at them for canceling first then asking questions.

The rep called Apple got a CR on the phone and reinstated my order. By this point Apple was listing shipping as 2-3 weeks. I got extremely luck and in 20 minutes I'm heading home to check out my new device. Good luck to others who are still waiting on their shipments.

(Also wanted to mention that Apple estimated the delivery date as March 18th.)

ordering as a "business" customer

Absolutely false. Mine was ordered that way at 12:46 and its still "not yet shipped". Idk why people are trying to find logic in their methods, when there isn't one to be found...

Yours was ordered online that way? I assume that any online orders will be slow as molasses currently; but this supposed "workaround" is to place your "business" order directly via an Apple Store.
I'm certainly not saying this will work, but my friend is trying it and was specifically told that his in-store order will take precedence over all the poor souls who are queuing outside every morning with hopes that a shipment came in. Kind of sad if this is true, actually...

I think if it goes out of AK in the afternoon local AK time you should get it the next day. Mine was a day early.

My case is another story
