same with mine! i have the same tracking info as you, including the hold. mines supposed to be in chicago!

It will happen. AK to MA from 11 last night to 330 delivery today. Only a smart cover though, not what I really wanted. Time zone changes plus fast processing will get it done.

Quite a few of us have iPads in Ta Yuan right now. My tracking as well as many others here looks exactly like yours.

Well My Estimated Delivery is the 22nd so it better get here by then! Even if a flight doesnt come to the US till Monday they better speed things up and get it to me for the 22nd.

Mines so close, I can taste it. It's in Alaska with a due date of the 22nd, and they held it back from a flight coming to California tonight.

I'm gonna go listen to some Guns & Roses.

I guess we could look at it one of two ways, our iPads are almost to Alaska or sitting in a warehouse. With the way everything has gone with my order so far, I bet that they're sitting in a warehouse.

But what about the people who ordered later in the day .. they will not be getting theirs on time because the international launch is next week. I better have mine on or before the 22nd.

they gave us a 3-5 day shipping but look how far out the delivery was 18th-25th (7-14days after launch) wth
I think plan B was always to "ship" to a local warehouse in AISA and then figure it out and roll out the actual deliveries. They built the extra week in so they would not p**s people off, but I think they will anyway now that we are seeing what they are really doing.

For those of us stuck in Taiwan...

I checked the FedEx (FX) flight schedule out of Taiwan on 18-Mar (their time)...here it is:
Date Time Flight Via Destination A/C Status
03/18 01:15 FX0026 Osaka Kansai - Auckland MD11 Departed
03/18 17:30 FX5264 Osaka Kansai - Auckland MD11 On Time
03/18 20:35 FX0014 Anchorage - Memphis MD11 On Time
03/18 20:40 FX5196 - Clark MD11 On Time

So I'm betting/hoping we will be on FedEx 14 to Memphis via Anchorage, departing at around 8:35am Eastern time on 18-Mar. The only other viable alternative is that we'll be put on FedEx 5264 and get transferred to another aircraft in Osaka...I hope that doesn't happen. But we'll know by 5:30am Eastern on 18-Mar.

This isn't necessarily the most transparent and pleasing process, but before we rip Apple for botching the release and all this, do we have anyone whose iPad hasn't been delivered in the promised window? Mine was supposed to ship in 3-5 business days and did so early on the 3rd. It was supposed to deliver by the 25th and is slated for delivery on the 22nd. I would have loved to have it sooner, but they haven't lied to me yet.

Agreed, technically they are OK, but I expected better. Shipping to Taiwan to meet the deadline and letting it stay there or in Alaska for a day or two with no movement isn't cool. That's a Verizon or Microsoft thing to do, not Apple.

You are in Alaska and scheduled to deliver on the 22... I am still sitting in China and scheduled to deliver on the 22. Kinda makes me wonder if this is just a big game of hurry up and wait. Here's hoping your's comes a little early and maybe mine makes it on time.

They have 4 hrs and 10 minutes to get mine shipped...then I will let you know. Ordered at 12:43am pacific on 3/11.

same annoying waiting here

I was awake and kept refreshing the web screen every few minutes the morning online Internet sales started.

My order was completed according to their system on: Mar 11, 2011 at 12:49 AM PDT, or 03:49am EST.
All 3 accessories have shipped, the only item that has not shipped is the IPAD WI-FI 3G 32GB BLACK-USA.

Clearly my email order acknowledgment reads,

IPAD WI-FI 3G 32GB BLACK-USA
Ships: 3 - 5 business days
Delivers Mar 18 - Mar 25 by Standard Shipping

My order was clearly one of the early ones placed on Apples website.

Since I ordered on a Friday, when they say ships in 5 business days, is Friday considered to be the first business day? If so, Apple has let me down.

If Friday is not considered the first business day, they then have 24 hours to send me an email which say's my iPad has been schedule for shipping.

Is there anyone else who ordered within the first few minutes of their website opening up for sales that has not received a shipping notification?

I did not have any engraving done to the iPad.

Frustrated Apple customer

Then there is this article which tends to backup my statements.

iPad 2 launch: not Apple's finest hour

http://www.tuaw.com/2011/03/17/ipad-2-launch-not-apples-finest-hour/

I agree with the ending of this article.

"Not Keeping Promises: Jason reported that he ordered an iPad2 online. He found the ordering page one minute before it was supposed to go up, and was promised three to five-day shipping. It's now the fifth day and it still hasn't shipped. I'm sure that his problem will be worse than what happened to me. I ordered a MacBook Pro online on the 12th with a promise of one to three-day shipping. It finally shipped on the fourth day. This is not the biggest of deals, but Apple usually under-promises and over-delivers. in the past I got used to Apple shipping the next day after being given a three day window. Not this time.

It wouldn't take a brain surgeon to solve all of these problems. All Apple needs to do is to be straight with its customers and give them some useful information, as has so often been the case in the past. The larger problem is that Apple booting this roll-out so dramatically, and having it so vociferously covered in the press, is going to shrink an awful lot of good will that Apple has traded so heavily in over the years."

Ordered at 01:32 AM PDT one 32gb black ATT iPad 2 and a smart cover. The smart cover arrived yesterday, shipped from China on March 12. My iPad changed yesterday late afternoon to "prepared for shipping". Nothing happened since then, as was predictable. I am sure Apple will not ship before the 5 business days deadline. And if we should receive a shipping notification on Friday, I bet the iPads will still not move. Sorry, I can't believe anymore what Apple states. It is so frustrating sitting here and waiting for an expensive gadget while others are already playing with their new toy.:mad::mad:

While I was typing this post the unbelievable just happened: Apple has sent me a friendly shipping notice at 11:26 PM EST. Shipping method is "International Economy Distribution". Will see how long it will take...

Anybody with the same problem?
Mine's estimated to arrive on the 22nd but im hoping to get it sooner since some other ipads that were on the same plane to Alaska have a Mar 18 estimated delivery day.
Any help or insight is greatly appreciated.

Released for Delivery means it has cleared customs.....

Ok.
My Ipad left Anchorage this afternoon. The Log in the tracker says left Fedex Sort Facility 4:01 PM

I found two flights that it could have possibly left on:
FDX 92 left at 4:06 to Newark
FDX28 left at 4:01 to Memphis

Is the time that appears in the tracker the exact time the flight takes off? Does that mean its on the Memphis? Or is that just the time when the plane leaves the gate or what not.

I really hope its going to Newark because that's just a 4 hour truck ride to my house. They claim and it has not changed since this started delivery tomorrow by 4:30.

A friend who ordered right when I did and lives in the same town got hers today and hers went from Anchorage to Newark. Does that mean that mine likely did too?

They have 4 hrs and 10 minutes to get mine shipped...then I will let you know. Ordered at 12:43am pacific on 3/11.

Mine shipped at about 1am Eastern today. Remember: it's about quarter of noon in Shenzhen right now. Also, they have until close of business Friday. It's been reported repeatedly that Apple is counting Monday as the first business day (standard procedure not to count the day the order is placed), so they have until tomorrow night until they're outside of their justifiable timeframe.

Finally shipped....

Wow, a big day. My 32G 3G BLK ATT ifinally went into Shipped status...
Scheduled to deliver on 23rd, a day before my trip, yes....

Now I will be staring at the fedex tracking page from now on. Hope there will be no delay.....

32GB 3G AT&T Black
Ordered: 3/11 1:05am PST
Prepared for Shipment: ~4:00pm 3/16
Shipped: 8:18pm 3/17

FedEx estimated delivery: 3/23 by 4:30pm
I leave for vacation: 3/23 8:00am

Fingers crossed for another early delivery.

Yea! An Update!

2011-03-18 10:56:00 In transit LANTAU ISLAND,
2011-03-17 21:37:00 Left FedEx Origin Location SHENZHEN,
2011-03-17 21:11:00 Package received after FedEx cutoff time SHENZHEN,

My black 16gb AT&T has been "prepared for shipment" since Monday. Hoping to jinx myself with this reply and it will be shipped sooooooooon.

I should have jinxed myself sooner as I received my tracking number a few minutes ago. Fedex says it will be delivered on the 23rd. There is also a claimer in big red letters on the tracking page saying the earthquake in japan has effected fedex service.

Ok.

I would say that yours is most likely on the flight to Memphis. My last update was leaving a ramp at 22:12 and that is the exact time that a plane took off to Memphis. From what I have seen that seems to be how it works.

So my package was "received after FedEx cutoff", but hasn't had any movement since 11pm last night. I'm pretty sure FedEx Shenzhen starts work at like, 4AM, so why is my box still sitting still at 11?

Ordered at March 11 3:39 PDT 64-Black-wifi only still Not yet shipped status. Supposed to ship 5-7 business days.

64GB with 3G ordered within 10 mins of yours, and still 'not yet shipped'

Even I'm starting to get a little annoyed. Friday means it's the start of that 5th day.

About time...

Ordered Black 64 GB ATT at 12:59 PST on 3/11

Went to PFS yesterday afternoon, got shipping notification about 20 min ago, parcel is headed to Louisiana, expected 3/23

Agreed, technically they are OK, but I expected better. Shipping to Taiwan to meet the deadline and letting it stay there or in Alaska for a day or two with no movement isn't cool. That's a Verizon or Microsoft thing to do, not Apple.

You know this for a fact? You must have worked for FedEx and know that if a package isn't moving it must be sitting there in a holding facility and that Apple just did that to meet their deadline. You would know that it has nothing to do with customs, cargo security, bulk loading, dispatch procedures, and weight and balance of aircraft. Brilliant. Enlighten us.

Look folks, if they were really doing that, it would be on FedEx, not Apple. Once Apple hands off to FedEx, they are paying shipping and FedEx is responsible for getting it to its destination. And there would be a separate shipping to and from the holding facility. And oh yeah, FedEx is telling you that the earthquake has affected their operations, a natural disaster where thousands have lost lives. You know what they owe you? Nothing.

I agree that Apple didn't handle this launch as well as they should, however, just because you ordered online and have to wait while others bought their product from a different source and already have it doesn't mean you get to be pissed off. When you ordered, it said it would be delivered in a large window: March 18-25th right? Unless your iPad is not in your hands on the 25th, stop whining. They didn't break any promises. They haven't met part of the shipping deadline, but theres nothing to prove it wont get to you in time yet.

Let's not make this out to be the worst thing thats ever happened to us okay?
