Those whose iPad shipped consider yourself lucky

I was awake and kept refreshing the web screen every few minutes the morning online Internet sales started.

My order was completed according to their system on: Mar 11, 2011 at 12:49 AM PDT, or 03:49am EST.
All 3 accessories have shipped, the only item that has not shipped is the IPAD WI-FI 3G 32GB BLACK-USA.

Clearly my email order acknowledgment reads,

IPAD WI-FI 3G 32GB BLACK-USA
Ships: 3 - 5 business days
Delivers Mar 18 - Mar 25 by Standard Shipping

My order was clearly one of the early ones placed on Apples website.

Since I ordered on a Friday, when they say ships in 5 business days, is Friday considered to be the first business day? If so, Apple has let me down.

If Friday is not considered the first business day, they then have 24 hours to send me an email which say's my iPad has been schedule for shipping.

Is there anyone else who ordered within the first few minutes of their website opening up for sales that has not received a shipping notification?

I did not have any engraving done to the iPad.

Frustrated Apple customer

Then there is this article which tends to backup my statements.

iPad 2 launch: not Apple's finest hour

http://www.tuaw.com/2011/03/17/ipad-2-launch-not-apples-finest-hour/

I agree with the ending of this article.

"Not Keeping Promises: Jason reported that he ordered an iPad2 online. He found the ordering page one minute before it was supposed to go up, and was promised three to five-day shipping. It's now the fifth day and it still hasn't shipped. I'm sure that his problem will be worse than what happened to me. I ordered a MacBook Pro online on the 12th with a promise of one to three-day shipping. It finally shipped on the fourth day. This is not the biggest of deals, but Apple usually under-promises and over-delivers. in the past I got used to Apple shipping the next day after being given a three day window. Not this time.

It wouldn't take a brain surgeon to solve all of these problems. All Apple needs to do is to be straight with its customers and give them some useful information, as has so often been the case in the past. The larger problem is that Apple booting this roll-out so dramatically, and having it so vociferously covered in the press, is going to shrink an awful lot of good will that Apple has traded so heavily in over the years."

I checked the flight history and fedex don't have any international flights out on Fridays and Sundays. Lets hope our iPads are on an en route flight or one that touched down.

So, at 12:43 am PDT tonight my order will officially be over 5 days from order. It went into "prepared for ship" a little over 24 hrs ago. If it doesn't ship by 12:43 am tonight what do you recommend I do? I have one of those elusive ATT 3G iPads that they can't seem to get a grasp on... Getting a little pissed now that I ordered mine before 95% of the people on this forum and several have already received theirs and mine has yet to even ship... Seriously f'ed up system by Apple.

At least I know I'm not alone. I'm trying to see if it could have left "Ta Yuan" and go to Anchorage, however I'm not a pro on the FlightAware website, not yet at least.

I'm with you all too in Taiwan...my 64-White-Wifi-engraved was "shipped" by Apple on 15-Mar, but still hasn't left the Far East...Geez. I wonder where our iPads will be going next?

My iPad shipped early Tuesday morning and it is not here yet. It is not even in the states to make matters worst. Apple promised 3-5 days to ship and it was fulfilled. I'm starting to think they just sent it out to ease some of the phone calls because people iPads that shipped yesterday and today has caught up with mine. Tomorrow they are going to ship all the other 3-5 day shipments but they still going to take forever to get to there destination. This is ridiculous !!!!! They might as well held mine until Friday also because Imma still get it when the people whose iPads ship out tomorrow get theirs.

All of our iPads are catching up with one another because too many shipped and there isn't room.

Do all of you have a 3/21 or 3/22 delivery date? I do and have the same status. I have posted previously and still have a sinking feeling they packaged them up to beat the 5 day shipping they promised and got them out of China and have deep sixed them in storage in TW for a day or two. I hope I am just being too cynical and am wrong.

for the other poster, my smart cover did make it from AK to MA from 11 last night to 3:30 delivery today so if you are in AK and promised delivery tomorrow don't give up yet they will make it.

Same here. Ordered at 1:11amPT 64gb AT&T black. Finally went to prepared for shipment last night at 8pm, and predictably, absolutely nothing has happened.

I am 100% sure I will not get my iPad on time, nor will it ship by apples promise of "3-5 business days"

This will go down in business history as one of the biggest clusterf*ck product launches of all time..... All because apple wanted huge lines and huge demand to show off over Xoom.

Quite a few of us have iPads in Ta Yuan right now. My tracking as well as many others here looks exactly like yours.

I checked the flight history and fedex don't have any international flights out on Fridays and Sundays. Lets hope our iPads are on an en route flight or one that touched down.
Well My Estimated Delivery is the 22nd so it better get here by then! Even if a flight doesnt come to the US till Monday they better speed things up and get it to me for the 22nd.

Too funny, see my post # 5247 written at almost the same time. I would bet the are packing pallets full of IPADS and getting them out of Shenzhen and ditching them at other less busy airports where they have space and will let them sit there for a day or two. They will meet the letter of the their promise of shipping and delivery but clearly not the spirit or service I expect from Apple.

My 2 16gig at&t iPads finally shipped (ordered at March 11 1:04am). "Prepared to ship" since early Monday morning. Now the real journey begins I guess.

I ordered at exactly 1:00am pst and went into to prepared for shipment at 8pm last night. No engraving or anything.

Then i read this

It's unfortunate and only makes matters worse.

This isn't necessarily the most transparent and pleasing process, but before we rip Apple for botching the release and all this, do we have anyone whose iPad hasn't been delivered in the promised window? Mine was supposed to ship in 3-5 business days and did so early on the 3rd. It was supposed to deliver by the 25th and is slated for delivery on the 22nd. I would have loved to have it sooner, but they haven't lied to me yet.

Wanna bet you ship tomorrow and end up spending the weekend in Taiwan with the rest of us? Seems that's where Apple stockpiles IPADS for delivery next week. Is it really considered shipped when you send it less than 100 miles from the factory and let them sit there????

I guess we could look at it one of two ways, our iPads are almost to Alaska or sitting in a warehouse. With the way everything has gone with my order so far, I bet that they're sitting in a warehouse.
