I've been "Lost on Lantau Island" since the 17th! No hope in site.
Promised delivery 3/23/11.
Yet my cover was shipped 6 hrs before my Ipad and its out for delivery today.

Once it makes it to Alaska, it should be delivered the next day. At least that's what happened with the Cover I ordered and I'm on the East Coast.

That said, I don't think any of the iPads still in Lantau will make it by 3/23. My iPad reached Lantua on 3/18. It's still there and my delivery data is listed as 3/24.

My cover made it from Anchorage to Orlando in 24 hours. So if the iPad makes it to Anchorage by some point tomorrow, I should still have it on Wednesday.

We'll see if that's true though.

Fedex is still showing 3/23. I know the time is a joke because Fedex didn't show up until 6:00 pm to deliver the cover on Friday and I had to go pick up it at the local Fedex office. I fully except them to be late on the 23rd.
 
I finally received my iPad after waiting since 3/11/11 @ 12:46 PST. I ordered the 64 GB white wifi. Here is my tracking info just FYI, it really only applies to orders that are "IP Direct Distribution."

I've been following this thread since last week. It has certainly been informative and quite entertaining. I received by iPad 2 this morning here at work. Just sitting here setting it up.

Placed my order on 3/11/11 @ 4:10 am EST

Ordered 64 GB Black WiFi only and Black Leather Smart Cover.

I received my cover on 3/18/11. Below is the travel itinerary for my iPad (Which was slightly different from the smart cover). Oh yeah, she did spend a few days vacationing on Lantau Island. But I will forgive her for that I suppose! LOL!!!

Lantau Island Prisoners

I called Fed Ex and talked to Apple, don't bother calling Apple. Apple is rude and useless. They are now trying to tell me that my original delivery date (18-22) is now the 24th. I am trying to get this stupid iPad for vacation and we leave on Saturday the 26th. I spoke with Ron and Phillip at Apple. Very rude and pretty arrogant. I really was very calm and factual when I called them and let them know that I talked to Fed Ex first and we could not get any answers. They are not willing to help.

Our pallet (people who have now been on Lantau Island for four days) is a large pallet of 700 ipads. Fed Ex does not know why this pallet (when many others have moved) is still sitting on Lantau Island. The representative I spoke with said that she guesses that it is because it is a very large pallet and there is no room on the planes to add this large pallet. Many of the smaller pallets made their way out on planes. I was told to call back later today to find out why that particular pallet is just sitting and scans at the same location.

Call Fed Ex and complain. Here is the international number and get some answers. I am calling back today. 1-800-455-4588 FED EX International

So I live in Fairfield and my iPad has finally made it to Pacheco, which is a trip down the 680. When I checked its status yesterday, it was in transit from Oakland, so I assume I would be getting it today. The following is what I see on the tracking page:

"Package not due for delivery."

ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!?!?!?!? :eek:
 
So getting along with business. Since the stranded Ipads aren't shipping today. Does anyone know when the next possible flights off of Lantau Island are?

=( no more flight today. But I think it will go directly to Alaska and to Oakland and out for delivery right away... Fedex really keeps its promise. 23rd is 23rd... not a second earlier !!

Thank you for calling and getting some information from FedEx. Since my delivery date, according to FedEx, is the 23rd, they'll tell me that they are still "on schedule"

It's kind of ridiculous that they are letting sit 700 iPads in some warehouse for 4 days.

This has been my worst ordering experience with Apple EVER!
I don't know who's running the show now that Steve is on LOA but this is a FAIL!
I was very happy with my iPad first gen order when it came right on time and was delivered on same day as launch day. Why they went this different route I don't know but some said they wanted the media attention of long lines.
Well the Quake in Japan and Libya war got top billing on that so even that was a fail for Apple and let me not even start with all the disappointed people here with their shipping and problems.

If I ever go to China I am going to visit Lantau Island and see what all the fuss is about.
