"left the ramp" - does that mean on a flight?

Amazing -- I ordered at 12:54AM on 3/11 -- Black AT&T 64GB, and it's STILL stuck with a HK status (maybe it left, but hasn't scanned elsewhere yet). I'm getting really upset about this now -- how the heck is it supposed to make it to socal by the scheduled delivery of 3/23 at this rate? People who ordered long after me have received theirs

Would you know if "left the ramp" means got into a cargo area on a plane? I'm a skeptic by now having watched my iPad2 in its pallet at Lantau Island for 4+ days and "Prepared for Shipment" for 3 1/2 days - I'd be really happy if it were finally on a flight.

My iPad has similar scan history, and I am pretty sure we are on FDX 14 to Anchorage which is scheduled to arrive around noon Anchorage time. Should have enough time to transfer to flight to lower 48. We still have a shot at tomorrow. Fingers crossed.

Mine as well. FedEx still has estimated delivery of 3/23 and if they didn't think they could meet that, I think they would have updated it by now.

I put a sign on the door that said " Knock loud enough to make the dog bark". The FedEx guy thought it was so funny he actually stayed on the porch until I got to the door.

Personally I "redirect" most FedEx shipments to my local FedEx shipping center, which isn't much of a redirect since all FedEx Express (not FedEx Ground though) shipments in my area pass through it. The center is a 5 minute drive from my workplace so I get shipments faster than I would if I waited around for them to be delivered.

I did the same thing for the iPad, so assuming it flies out from AK today, I should get it tomorrow.

What really makes me angry is the one I ordered (same exact model) 3 hours after mine for my incompetent mother-in-law has landed in Alaska this morning

what time and what model did you order? I'm just curious since I was early in that time frame but havent seen any movement yet.

Yes "left the ramp" means it is on a plane. Especially if it has had that status for more than an hr. The next tracking you see will more than likely be "At FedEx Location" wherever the plane lands

Mine on teh same boat. its just got to AK after beeing in HK for 4 days. MY date is still schedule for tomorrow. I had called fedex this morning and she told me it was moving out of HK , but website never said left HK, just arrived in AK at 6am. So i still on for tomorrow hopefully. I am in DC and waiting for my 32g white AT&T one..

It is so frustrating the lack of organization to get first sold to be first shipped.

Add me to the list of stuck in HK for days with a 24th deliver date that seems plainly impossible.

My solace is this thread of the likewise in misery/anticipation. Please someone make a better product so that Apple actually feels financial motivation to treat customers well. Plainly Apple is shipping enough units to justify shoving things out in the market before they are logistically prepared over proper execution and core customer satisfaction. They don't need to make their core customers happy, the numb and dumb masses will be buying theirs at Walmart in a 2 months no matter what The numb and dumb buyer is what Apple is now after.

Don't be surprised when you see that all the 23rd delivery date people (who were stuck on Lantau for 4+ days) start to post that we all received our iPads as planned. Ours just left HK early this morning... you have no reason to believe that your estimated delivery date on FedEx's site is "impossible".

Exactly. People with a ship date of the 23rd were still in Hong Kong late last night. If you're still in Lantau Island, the 24th is doable.

I ordered mine on March 11 at 7:22AM PST and haven't received the pending charge or any notification on shipping yet. My Smart Cover shipped on the 18th and has been hanging out at Lantau Island since the 20th. It still says my iPad will ship April 1.

Good to hear some of you who were in that same shipping date pretty close to when I ordered are starting to get updates. Hopefully I'll see some action in the next day or two.

Firstly for actual delivery go by what FedEx site says, secondly if you haven't already done so, call Apple CS and simply express (in a friendly way) that you are "concerned that the Apple delivery date is different than the FedEx date"... have them track your order to see for themselves that it is indeed different... they will more than likely throw you a free cover or something...

The destination is Chattanooga, TN so it still has a distance to go. Apple gave me a delivery date of March 23rd, while Fedex is showing a March 24th delivery date. I'm just wondering how many people are still waiting for iPads that purchased before the 1am online store launch?

The supervisor from Fed Ex (that was apparently a much smarter person that some people thought) called me this morning. She wanted to let me know that the shipment had finally be loaded on to an Anchorage flight last night and was currently being sorted in Anchorage. This same person told me the night I called that she thought it would be loaded first on the Anchorage flight. She turned out to be pretty smart. She also was kind enough to call me this morning and said she would continue to update until the package had arrived. She said she was tracing it.

Thank you Velma Williams. I think your a great employee for Fed Ex and a woman of your word.

Mine went from Hong Kong to AK to Fort Worth to Tulsa to my door overnight...once it get to the states things seem to speed up. The only thing that would hold things up is if it doesnt clear customs in time for a connection or the aircraft is not working right. Everything gets held up on the Island...that is what everyone was complaining about last week...and it sounds like it is what is being talked about this week.

hehehe yeah, my poor doggie. I came back from a jog and it was my intention to walk her... then I checked my status...

She settled for a nice jaunt in the backyard and I promise to walk her before I open my ipad =)

I had to take a shower, but I'm a guy, and it takes me 2 minutes. So, I did risk that, but there was no harm... at least, he didn't leave a sticker on the door... =)

But I really wonder how common it actually is to actually be home and miss the knock.

The first thing I did was pre-sign for my shipment. You print out the paper and attach it to your door... The fedex guy takes the paper and leaves your package wherever you instruct on the paper. Simple and secure... for your nerves anyway.

it became "prepared to ship" Sunday night around 9pm PST

i'm hoping it will get sent to FedEx today/tonight.

my delivery date range from Apple is 22nd to 29th, so we'll see.
