Has anyone who is in sothern Calif. and had their shipment arrive in Oakland last night around 10 p.m. had an update today yet?

My ipad had just made it to my home town. It doesn't say out for delivery, but it is just 7:30, so it should get on a truck this morning.

Mine has landed - Yahoo says it's left the FedEx sort facility - so I suppose the next I'll see is "on the truck for delivery." I hope it gets here before I have to leave at 2pm. Then I can plug it into charge (see how much its battery drained over the long time since it was "prepared for shipment" and it reaches me.) Set up my email accounts, WIFI etc. - and then tomorrow start downloading apps (or maybe tonight although I don't get home until late); I've made a list of the first downloads. Its arrival before I leave today would be very very nice. I hope the iCarbons skin arrives by tomorrow. The smart cover (black leather) has been waiting for it for days. I'm ready.

Mine immediately turned around and went to the local facility and then on the truck for delivery.

As of 10:16, it was delivered. Now it just needs to work its way up to me from the mail room. Of course, they'll probably deliver it to the wrong Ian again, but not all of us will have that problem!

Ordered four 16GB GSM (two white, two black) on March 11th at 7:03 and 7:09 AM PDT. Original ship date was April 1.

Just got shipping notices for them this morning (3/23) at 7:03 and 7:23 AM CDT, estimated delivery is next Tuesday (3/29).

No word yet on the black 64GB GSM which was ordered on March 13th at 11:52 AM PDT. Still shows an April 11th ship date. But this makes me optimistic that it'll ship early as well.

Really? I ordered my black 16GB wifi at 6:30am PDT and havent heard a peep 😕

Hey all, been following this thread for a few days now, my 32 GB Black WiFi was also stuck on the island. Just for the fun of it I decided to check Yahoo tracking, and saw that it left NARITA-SHI a few hours ago, yet FedEx site didn't have a change since yesterday morning, didn't even list the CHEK LAP KOK stop it made. I still have hopes for a 3/24 by 4:30 delivery to Pittsburgh!

And as Randy Jackson says...."32GB AT&T iPAD2...You're going to Hollywood!!!!!" Left the LAX ramp and hopefully on its way to its final sorting destination. Still a chance I can get it today (scheduled delivery is 4:30pm) but I'm just going to pretend its supposed to come tomorrow. For all you doubters out there, have confidence that FedEx will honor the delivery date that shows on your tracking (not necessarily what your Apple Order status says).... I just received both the Blk-64-Att iPads I ordered. Both left Lantau at 1AM EST on 3-22 and were received today (3-23) about 33hrs later

Some may be lucky enough to get theirs early based on logistics, but for the sake of your own sanity, don't expect that this will happen to you, just call it a bonus if it happens.

Thanks to everyone who contributed, I found this thread to be helpful in significantly reducing the anxiety of anticipation...

Good luck everyone... it's been real (lets not do this again ever!😀)

This is completely ridiculous. My delivery date is supposed to be today and FedEx still lists it as such. After talking to a representative, she says that it has not cleared customs and is still in Anchorage (even though their website lists at as "In Transit") and may be delivered tomorrow, but won't be delivered today. She couldn't tell me why the package was listed as released for delivery even though it has not cleared customs. If there is a more incompetent shipping company than FedEx, I would be excited to see it.

The long journey is finally over! My Black 64 gb ATT + WiFi arrived at my company mailroom just moments ago. I'm pacing for them to log it in and give it up to me!! 😛 For the record, I was in the "first group" (though it certainly didn't always feel like it), having ordered on 3/11 at 1:17 AM PDT.

Yes, it has arrived at my local facility. Looks like it will make it today! Unbelievable after 4days in Lantau Island, it's traveling over night to makeup the lost time.....

Yes, I have been tracking on FedEx's site, as well as Yahoo, but I just called the automated system to get the real information. Here is what they all say:

Yahoo: "Held at Sort Facility" - Anchorage, AK
FedEx: "In transit" - Anchorage, AK
Phone: On it's way to the delivery station for delivery today.

Interesting how they can all be so different, but the phone seems to be the most accurate (and hopeful!)

Despite the automated system saying it "will be delivered today", I asked to speak to a representative who said: 'Sorry, the package is still in customs. It will not deliver today.'

Me: 'Do you have a new estimated delivery date.'

Representative: 'No.'

Great... the waiting game continues.

So the iPad 2 (Black 64 GB AT&T 3G) I ordered around 5:30 AM on March 11th showed up today (March 23th).

This whole launch has been sadly lacking in any kind of logic.

I guess I should have indicated that mine was a 64GB WIFI+3G that was ordered @ 1:23 AM PDT. I don't know why mine didn't go through Lantau/Anchorage... it went from Sennan-Shi directly to Memphis. Hope you get yours soon!

If anything Apple and subsequently FedEx's behavior has been predictable...as everyone has said -- I'd see movement on my iPad the day prior to the promised delivery date by FedEx and this rang true. Left FedEx Ramp 'Chek Lap Kok'/'Lantau Island' at 20:01:00 and 20:05:00 respectively. Assume it is either en route to Memphis or Anchorage for an on-time delivery by 4:30p tomorrow (destination: Atlanta, GA).🙂

Complain about import regulations, customs, and border security not the launch itself. The launch has been a huge success for Apple, exactly as they had hoped. If people have to wait a bit to get theirs, too bad. Demand >Supply = Profit. Fedex is very good at getting an item from the other side of the world to in your hands in a fairly timely manner but unless you opted for faster shipping you're still getting the last priority spot on the plane.

From a customer standpoint, I would disagree. Filling orders way out of sequence with no rhyme or reason, not allowing pre-orderes, not waiting a week or two to have enough stock to fill demand. These have nothing to do with fedex. And in my opinion is a botched launch.

Now the fedex site shows no estimated delivery date and still says "international shipment release" Memphis, TN. WTF!!
