The iPad has been in Memphis for over 30 hours now. FEDEX website says I'll receive by 10:30AM today. FEDEX automated phone systems says the same. FEDEX rep says that unusual volume in Memphis has delayed the inbound customs processing there, and that I should "check back tomorrow morning for an update". WTH?

Anyone else in Memphis with me?

Mine took the same path yours has. Is your estimated arrival for tomorrow also? Seems like enough time to get here by then.

Yeah, I'm for tomorrow as well... And I agree with you, especially based on the number of people here saying they made it easily from HK to the US in a day. Seems to me the time spent in Anchorage to clear customs is shrinking, in a general sense (since there are a few who are still having extended stays).

Yes, I have been tracking on FedEx's site, as well as Yahoo, but I just called the automated system to get the real information. Here is what they all say:

Yahoo: "Held at Sort Facility" - Anchorage, AK
FedEx: "In transit" - Anchorage, AK
Phone: On it's way to the delivery station for delivery today.

Interesting how they can all be so different, but the phone seems to be the most accurate (and hopeful!)

I hate to burst your bubble like this (seriously, I really am sorry), but for the hell of it I just called FedEx's 800 number to track both of my iPad's, both due tomorrow. Here's what I'm getting:

Yahoo: 3/23 7:49pm local time - Left FedEx Ramp - Narita
FedEx: 3/22 11:20pm local time - At Lantau Island
Phone: En route to my local shipping center, in New York

So I suppose that while technically it is en route from Narita to the Upper West Side of Manhattan, we know there will be a couple of additional stops in there, not to mention customs-clearing. Guessing yours is still in Anchorage...

Just got off the phone with FedEx. They said that their website is way behind, and even though it says my iPad is still on LANTAU ISLAND and Yahoo says NARITA-SHI, it is on its way to Pittsburgh and will be delivered tomorrow afternoon, right on time!

FEDEX Lies

Just spoke with Gail Bailey (sp) from FEDEX. She (and the person I spoke to before her) tried to blame the "In transit" (Memphis) status on the "delay" on clearing customs in Alaska.

Strange how 4 days on Lantau Island played no part in the delay.

Please note - neither Yahoo Business tracker or FEDEX tracking indicate the delivery date has been shoved to tomorrow.

This is probably the worst "service" I have ever experienced with FEDEX.

If anything Apple and subsequently FedEx's behavior has been predictable...as everyone has said -- I'd see movement on my iPad the day prior to the promised delivery date by FedEx and this rang true. Left FedEx Ramp 'Chek Lap Kok'/'Lantau Island' at 20:01:00 and 20:05:00 respectively. Assume it is either en route to Memphis or Anchorage for an on-time delivery by 4:30p tomorrow (destination: Atlanta, GA).

I'm in the same boat. Delivering to Atlanta by Tomorrow 1630.

Yahoo shows it left Narita and FedEx still shows it is in Lantau. It left Narita at 1945 and there is a flight 74 to Anchorage that left at 1945. Should land in about 2 1/2 hours.

There still should be enough time to make the delivery by tomorrow. Fingers crossed...

Ordered four 16GB GSM (two white, two black) on March 11th at 7:03 and 7:09 AM PDT. Original ship date was April 1.

Just got shipping notices for them this morning (3/23) at 7:03 and 7:23 AM CDT, estimated delivery is next Tuesday (3/29).

No word yet on the black 64GB GSM which was ordered on March 13th at 11:52 AM PDT. Still shows an April 11th ship date. But this makes me optimistic that it'll ship early as well.

My husband waited until the 12th to order mine. The apple site says it won't ship until April 11th. Any chance it might ship sooner? It's my first iPad and I am growing impatient already. Thanks!

FedEx site and Yahoo both have been very slow to update. If you call the International FedEx tracking number and talk to a representative, they will tell you the exact status. Mine still says it is in China, but the rep said it is on it's way to Pittsburgh and will definitely be delivered tomorrow.
