mine arrived in memphis early today morning from anchorage. has a deliver date of 3/31 in st louis!! not sure why so long when its already in memphis, expect it by monday or is it that fedex does not move shipments on weekends??

It should be safe to ignore the estimated delivery date in this case. That's just an outside limit that Fedex set, and they're currently beating it in most cases. My iads came in 48 and 72 hours, Shenzhen to the front door, and were 4 and 5 days before Fedex's estimate, respectively.

My iPad has finally made it to Chattanooga and is out for delivery as of 7:46am EST. Too bad I have class tonight and won't be able to play with it until after 8

Curious though Apple email says "Delivers by Mar 30, 2011", whereas Fedex is estimating 3/31. Anyone know which is more accurate? I would guess Fedex, but my smart cover actually came a day earlier that Fedex predicted and it spent many days on LANTAU ISLAND. Here's hoping that doesn't happen again!!

iPad 2 32GB Wifi 3G AT&T

I ordered Fri, March 11, 2011 5:12:28 AM and received my iPad 2 Friday March 25.

I am in Abilene, Texas. I had Fed Ex Hold the iPad2 at the local Fed Ex store that used to be Kinkos.

I like that I had the option to have my iPad 2 held even before they attempted the first delivery and I was able to pick the location with extended hours.

I never know what time I am going to get off from work. If I had been off I would have to set around the house scared I was going to miss the Fed Ex person. Also my iPad 2 was at the store at 9:16 am.

I was prepared for shipment on Tuesday night and it's been almost 72 hours at this point and I'm still waiting. :-/

That stinks. The 50 hours ended Friday 12:10AM so I haven't received yet. Lucky for me it was picked up and quickly on a plane out of the Island to Alaska. Arrived there about an hour ago...

It seems like this is taking forever. Fort Worth is not 11 hours away from Kansas City. And that's after it sat in TX for over 24 hours.

Judging from other postings, Fedex's Ft. Worth hub has been having notable problems forwarding parcels on a timely basis, especially to Wichita and Kansas City. Trackers have consistently showed a lack of connecting Fedex flights out of that hub, and several people have said that their iPads were eventually trucked to Kansas. The nature of the problems is unknown, but they seem to be unique to that hub.

FDX86 is not really a factor here since it's an Oakland flight that took off at 4:54 pm AKDT. As for the other two possibilities, which concern Memphis flights, two things are pertinent. First, the scans shown on the Fedex trackers are for actual departure times and not scheduled departure times. Second, the time shown by the scans are typically within one minute of the reported actual departure time shown on the flight trackers that cover airline activity.

If you have a departure scan for 3:10 pm AKDT, the closest match is FDX14, which had an actual departure time of 3:11 pm AKDT. I imagine that the time data is being generated by atomic clocks at some level, but I've also seen some drift in the times actually reported by such clocks. So a one minute difference is not significant, either theoretically or in practice.

Since FDX72 departed at 3:16 pm AKDT, it's possible but unlikely that the 3:10 scan was really for that flight. I've seen at least one instance where the reported departure time differed from the scan time by 4-5 minutes, but that wasn't in Anchorage.

Parsing the data to this extent probably doesn't have much value so long as your iPad is headed toward Memphis this evening. If it became vital to get the exact flight number for your package, I imagine a Fedex data center could pull up a detailed record that shows such data. Alternatively, one of the forum members could just call a Fedex friend in Anchorage and ask him or her to verify which scan went with which flight.

Thanks for the info. I know it's not vital to know what plane my iPad is on. It's just my morbid curiosity.

I ordered it with a smart cover. The smart cover has shipped. It is in Anchorage, Alaska now. Got some international shipment release around 1PM.

Credit card company thought the charge for the iPad was fraudulent. Very annoying because I ordered it through the credit card shopping website. Go figure. One call to the credit card and one to Apple sales support seemed to do the trick. Status changed to Prepared for Shipment last night (Pacific time) and it has been like that until now.

Mine was ordered 3/12 @ 7PM PDT, 16GB AT&T White. Since I saw the first March 12 prepared for shipment, I too have been a bit edgy and quite often checking my order status. So far, no movement absolutely nothing. No matter, I've already started downloading APPS--LOL about 15 so far.
